Parse.com query not working properly - ios

I am trying to filter the posts based on their profile. For instance, when I go to my profile I only want to see my posts, not all the posts in my database. I attempted to make a filter for that but the code below does not seem to work and I am unsure as to why that is. It may be something obvious but I can not seem to pinpoint the issue, any ideas?
I have attached a picture of the database to further assist anybody.
The code runs perfectly fine it just does not filter the usernames.

What you are doing here might work under some circumstances but will certainly bite you at some point.
What your code does:
show some arbitrary number of cells - probably based on self.bucketsArray.count or something similar
in each cell creation, run a parse query
when the query returns, customize the already displayed cell accordingly - without any usage of the requested query response
That will cause problems for a couple of reasons:
you perform too many requests, each cell requests some data, each new displayed cell requests its own data again
you display the old data in the cell until the new data is fetched which could take a few seconds due the amount of requests
you could encouter a problem where you requests some data for a cell, that cell moves off-screen, gets reused, then the first query returns, still holds the reference to it and will therefore display wrong data
How it can be solved
Do not requests the data in the cellForRowAtIndexPath.
Request the data once in viewDidLoad or similar. as soon as the data gets returned, parse it and initiate a tableView.reload().
In the cellForRowAtIndexPath make use of the already retrieved data, do not perform anymore async tasks.

Swift 4: Pagination using data from an array to make API call as user scrolls

Background
In my app, I store a bunch of object IDs. I use these IDs to make batch API calls. The API limits each call to 10 ID numbers. This data is rendered on a UITableView. The user can add and delete objects, which adds or removes the object ID from the database.
I’m using a Firestore database to store the object IDs on my end.
Current Implementation
Here’s what I’ve implemented so far, but it crashes the app when add & deleting objects. I haven’t been able to work out how to properly handle these cases & whether this is the right pattern to do something like this.

Adding or deleting objects:
The object ID is added or deleted from the Firestore database
The objectIds, chunkedObjectIds, offset and objects are cleared
The listener triggers a read of the data and the process repeats
The Issue & Question
This works well to load initial data. But duplication occurs when adding (and sometimes crashing). When deleting the app will crash because of out of range exceptions.
Is this the correct pattern to use in the first place? If so, what am I missing to handle cases after the first load, specifically the addition and deletion of new object IDs.

I have changed the implementation based on feedback in the comments. So now, the process is like this:
Setup listener to get data from Firestore
Loop through the object ids from Firestore and while the counter is < 10 or we reach object.count - Now I save the next offset and the next time it triggers this method, I initiate a loop from the next offset with the same while conditions
Fetch the objects from the 3rd party API
I kept using willDisplay cell method to trigger more data to load - it seemed to work more reliably than scrollDidEnd method.
So now the app doesn't crash anymore. There are some issues with the firestore listener, but I'll post that as a separate question.

Firebase query observing reshowing data

I have a firebase query that observes data from a posts child.

However, when a user posts something, it creates a more than one cell with the data. For instance, if I post "hello", a two new cards show up with the hello on it. However, when I exit the view and recall the fetch posts function, it shows the correct amount of cells. Also, when I delete a post from the database, it adds a new cell as well and creates two copies of it until I reload the view, then it shows the correct data from the database.
I suspect this has something to do with the observe(.value), as it might be getting the posts from the database and each time the database changes it creates a new array. Thus, when I add a new post, it is adding an array for the fact that the post was added and that it now exists in the database, and when I refresh the view it just collects the data directly from the database.
Also, sometimes the correct amount of cells show and other times there's multiple instances of random posts, regardless of whether I have just added them or not.
How can I change my query so that it initially loads all the posts from the database, and when some post is added it only creates one new cell instead of two?
Edit: The logic seeming to occur is that when the function loads, it gets all the posts as it calls the fetchPosts(). Then, when something is added to the database, it calls the fetchPosts() again and adds the new data to the array while getting all the old data. yet again.
One thing I always do when appending snapshots into an array with Firebase is check if it exists first. In your case I would add

You are right in thinking that the .value event type will return the entire array each time there is a change. What you really need is the query.observe(.childAdded) listener. That will fetch individual posts objects rather than the entire array. Call this in your viewDidAppear method.
You may also want to implement the query.observe(.childRemoved) listener as well to detect when posts are removed.
Another way would be to call observeSingleEvent(.value) on the initial load then add a listener query.queryLimited(toLast: 1).observe(.childAdded) to listen for the latest post.

Closure does not run in the main thread in swift

I want to show some images on UITableViewCell. However I got an error below

Wrap anything you want to run on the main queue in DispatchQueue.main.async{ ... }.
That said, your current approach likely won't work. This method gets called a lot. While the user is scrolling, this method gets called every time a cell is about to come on the screen (in iOS 10, sometimes a bit before it'll come on the screen). Cells are often recycled, and you're appending data to the titleArray and other arrays every time a cell is requested (they may not be in order; they might have already been fetched; this array isn't going to wind up in the right order).
You need to move all your data about a cell into a model object and out of the view controller. There shouldn't be a titleArray and an urlArray, etc. There should just be an Article, and the Article should take care of fetching itself and updating its properties. And the job of this method is to fetch the correct Article from your cache, or create a new one if needed, and assign it to an ArticleCell. The ArticleCell should watch the Article and update itself any time the Article changes (i.e. when the fetch completes). Almost no work should happen directly in this method since it gets called so often, and in possibly random orders.
The common way to build this kind of thing is with a simple model object (often a reference type so it can be observed; there are many other approaches that allow a struct, but they're a little more advanced so we'll keep this simple):

You can use KVO or Swift Observables or an ArticleDelegate protocol to let the cell observe the Article. When the Article updates, the cell updates itself.
Again, there are many ways to approach this. You could have a "PlaceHolderArticle" that all the cells share and when the real Article comes in, the cell replaces the whole thing (so that Articles are immutable rather than self-updating). You could use the more generic approaches described by Swift Talk. There are lots of ways. But the key is that there is this model that updates itself, independent of any particular UI, and a UI (views, view controllers) that watch the model and display what it holds.
If you want much, much more on this topic, search for "Massive View Controller." That's the common name for the anti-pattern you're currently using. There are lots of ways to fight that problem, so don't assume that any particular article you read on it is "the right way" (people have come up with some very elaborate, and over-elaborate, solutions). But all of them are based on separating the model from the UI.

How to Update uitableview from CloudKit using discoverAllIdentities

So, I am new to cloudKit and to working with multiple threads in general, which I think is the source of the problem here, so if I simply need to research more, please just comment so and I will take that to heart.
Here is my question:
I am working in Swift 3 Xcode 8.1
I have in my view controller this variable:

I apologize if I am missing or have an extra bracket somewhere. I have omitted some error checking code and so forth in order to get this down to bare-bones. So the goal of all that is to populate my contactsNearby Dictionary with data from CloudKit. A name as the key a location as the value. I want to use that data to populate a tableview. In the above code, the call to closeEnough is a call to another one of my view controllers methods to check if the contact from CloudKit has a location close enough to my user to be relevant to the apps purposes. Also myLocation is a variable that is populated before the segue. It holds the CLLocation of the app users current location.
The Problem:
The if statement:

Appears to succeed. But my view controllers variable:

Is never populated and I know there is data available in cloudKit.
If it's relevant here is some test code that I have in cellForRowAtIndexPath right now:

My rows alway populate with "nothing was there". I have seen answers where people have done CKQueries to update the UI, but in those answers, the user built the query themselves. That seems different from using a CloudKit function like discoverAllIdentities.
I have tried to be as specific as possible in asking this question. If this question could be improved please let me know. I think it's a question that could benefit the community.
Okay, I need to do some more testing, but I think I got it working. Thank you Paulw11 for your comment. It got me on the right track.
As it turns out there were 2 problems.
First, as pointed out I have an asynchronous call inside a for loop. As recommended, I used a dispatchGroup.
Inside the cloudKit call to discoverAllIdentities I declared a dispatchGroup, kind of like so:

Then just inside the for loop that is going to make an async call, I enter the dispatchGroup:

Then just before the end of the publicCloudDatabase.fetch completion handler I call:
icloudDispatchGroup.leave()
and
icloudDispatchGroup.wait()
Which, I believe, I'm still new to this remember, ends the dispatchGroup and causes the current thread to wait until that dispatchGroup finishes before allowing the current thread to continue.
The Above took care of the multithreading issue, but my contactsNearby[String:CLLocation]? Dictionary was still not being populated.
Which leads me to the 2nd problem
At the top of my view controller I declared my Dictionary:

This declared a dictionary, but does not initialize it, which I don't think I fully realized, so when I attempted to populate it:

It quietly failed because it is optional and returned nil
So, in viewDidLoad before I even call populateContactsNearby I initialize the dictionary:
contactsNearby = [String:CLLocation]()
This does not make it cease to be an optional, which Swift being strongly typed would not allow, but merely initializes contactsNearby as an optional empty Dictionary.
At least, that is my understanding of what is going on. If anyone has a more elegant solution, I am always trying to improve.
In case you are wondering how I then update the UI, I do so with a property observer on the contactsNearby Dictionary. So the declaration of the dictionary at the top of the view controller looks like this:

Handle large JSON files in TableView

I'm trying to parse a large JSON file (approx: 1000 rows containg a tuple with 8 strings) and display this in a UITableView. What I already have is working but I am looking for a more efficient way of displaying them.
At the moment my code looks likes this:

This does parse the data using SwiftJSON (see JSON(data : data!)), then when it comes to actually filling an array i use a class containing two attributes (one for the Main text in table and one for detail text)

I use a loop to get the data from the result callback in the GET method to append to an array of

This is very CPU intensive but I did not find another way to deal with this problem. I tried only displaying 50 rows in the table and only creating 50 class items for the rows. But none of that matters, what I fear is that the SwiftyJSON way of dealing with this problem is not the right one but i thought that maybe I am overlooking something.
If I understood your problem, you are worried about CPU / Energy Efficiency.
What you should consider, if it's not how your app already works, is implementing the parsing process in the background thread, make your [SomeClass] array observable and update the table when it changes (aka when the background parsing added an new value to it).
So first make your parsing function run in background (for instance with the Async GCD wrapper) :

You might have noticed the unusual syntax for the array appending method. That's because making your array "observable" is part of the solution. I advise you to get the Observable-Swift library to make it easier to observe.
Once added to your project, change your array declaration :

Now implement the method that will be called when your callback parsed a new item (for instance in your viewDidLoad:)

If you want to implement a power-friendly runtime, you might want to update the table every time 50 or 100 objects are added to the array. This can be done so (if you want to do so do not implement the method right above):

where 100 is the value of new object required to be added in order to update the table. With Observable-Swift, $0 represents the array before it was updated and $1 the array after its update.
One last thing : the rows array is no longer of type [SomeClass] but Observable<SomeClass>. If you want to access the [SomeClass] value, just replace rows by rows.value
Hope I didn't misunderstood your question. Anyway if I did, I think that can still help providing a better implementation of JSON parsing.
You should not be worried about how much of data you have to display in TableView.
TableView class handles everything for you as long as you pass the json object properly as a Tablesource.
It's actually a pretty good concern about how you use the resources. Normally, we will go with pagination if you don't want to query back whole amount of data from a request. Then, you will implement some proper logic based on the skip and limit in order to get further data.
As for the UITableView, there is nothing to worry about. Because, it's developed in an efficient way. The total number of cell in memory is the total number of cell visible. The UITableView will help populating the data via delegation methods. It's not like: you have 500 rows of data, then it has 500 UITableViewCell. It's reusability.
