How to automatically copy and paste cells Google Sheets - google-sheets

My goal is to write information in one column, and have it duplicated to another column. Lets say I have my data in cell =A3. I would like this data to automatically be copied into cell =Z50. The only way I know to do this without manually and writing the data or copy and pasting the cells is to go to cell =Z50 and in the function bar set it equal to =A3. I was hoping someone might know of a way to automate this process. By setting the column Z equal to the A column with the same row.

I was looking for the same thing, and even though I haven't tried the ArrayFormula solution, this could be another way to get this automatically copying done:
=QUERY(MySheet!B1:B100,"SELECT *")
Use this formula where you have planned to get the information copied.
"MySheet!B1:B100" = This will be the sheet you want to get data copied from.
"SELECT *" = This will get everything in this interval copied, in case you want any specific data into the interval, you have the option of choosing as well.

This formula might work in cell Z50 (or anywhere else on the sheet that you want the data copied to):
=ArrayFormula(IF(A3:A="",,A3:A))

Align imported Data with manually added data

We are filling Point 1 - 4 manually. The data in A,B,C is sorted through C and will change every now and then. The problem I am noticing now is that A,B,C is moving. But D:G will stay in the same column.
We want to use this file to fill in the data since its our main file. So using the initial =query to also take into account D:G is not an option.
Would there be any other way to "link" D:G to the corresponding values in A:C?
Looking at your sheet I noticed you try a VLOOKUP formula.
Please try the following formula
=INDEX(IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A1:A;Blad1!A2:I;{6\7\8\9};0)))
Of course your approach would cause problems. You're trying to map manual data to some data that is bound to change. You can't expect the manual data to move or change in sync when the imported data changes.
You could probably make it work at least if the imported data does not change in order, and instead gets any new data appended. Even then, it doesn't help you if any of the imported rows gets deleted.
There are only two ways I could see to make this work:
Map your manual data as part of the original sheet where your other data is imported from. In other words, make D:G part of the source of A:C, if possible. This is the best approach. Works even when some imported rows get deleted or changed.
Don't sort A:C at source. Simply append new rows, and import as is. Keep your Blad1 sheet as the local source sheet, and add your manual data to D:G here. Then create a new sheet for sorting or do any other thing you'd like, and use this new sheet to feed your Blad2 sheet. This doesn't work if some of the imported rows get deleted or changed.

Google sheets, two-sheet dependent conditional formatting

My problem is probably trivial ... However, I was looking for similar problems and their solutions either do not work for me or I can not apply them.
I have 2 sheets - SheetA and SheetB. They are identical. I want to select every cell in SheetA that is no longer identical to Sheet B.
I was able to use (found here on Stack Overflow) such a function in conditional formatting:
= A1 <> INDIRECT ("SheetB! A" & ROW ())
It works if the range is column A. I know that I can apply this function to each column separately, but there is certainly a way that I can apply the same formula to the whole worksheet.
Will there be anyone who can show me the correct formula?
Edit: I tried to use above formula to every column... And my file become to work very slow... So whoever wants to do the same... think again.
After some tries I decided to move everything from SheetB to SheetA. I paste it a 1000 rows under data of Sheet A. Works fine without "indirect" function. No slow downs. It is not a perfect solution but it works.
But even after my problem is solved different way, I would like to know what is the correct formula for my problem... it might be useful for the future with smaller amount of data.

You should be able to use the Address function to get the address of the current cell from its row and column:
=A1<>indirect("sheetB!"&address(row(),column()))
or for case-sensitive match:
=not(exact(A1,indirect("sheetB!"&address(row(),column()))))

Google Forms changes cell reference on different sheet in Google Sheets

I'm building a spreadsheet to track my macronutrients and calories. I made a google form for inputting information and it populates a "responses" sheet on google sheets. I made a different sheet within the same spreadsheet to perform all the calculation and generate graphs.
But every time I enter a new response into the form, it creates a new row and changes all the cell references in the calculations sheet. For example, I reference cell A2 from the responses
='Form Responses'!A2
and when I actually fill out the form and it populates, A2 in the responses sheet is filled in but the reference in my calculations sheet has been changed to A3.
='Form Responses'!A3
I tried using $ but it did the same thing, automatically changes the cell that I referenced.
Any way to have my calcuations sheet reference the newly created rows automatically?
In a new tab use for example, = {'Form Responses'! A: Z} and use this data to do your calculations and you will have no problems!
Solution
To avoid the row value to change reference when adding a new response, you will need to add the $ next to the number instead of next to the column value (A):
='Form Responses'!A$2
Moreover, an easy way to reference your whole column is to reference a range instead such as:
='Form Responses'!A:A
And then just drag it through your column. If you want it to be more specific (select the range you want):
='Form Responses'!A2:A999

Google Sheets - Vlookup not updating formulas automatically when new sheet reference is created [duplicate]

I have this formula in a cell in a 'Summary' sheet which is waiting for a new sheet to be created with its name being a date:
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP($A3, INDIRECT("'"&TEXT(BN$2,"m/d/yyyy")&"'!$E$6:$o$100"), 11, false), "")
However, when I add the new sheet with the name that would match, then it doesn't automatically recalculate and pull in the values from the new sheet.
The weird thing is if I add a column to the left of this column that has the formula shown above, then it recalculates ... and all is well. Another weird thing is if I add a column far enough away from the column in question then it doesn't recalculate in the same way that it does when I add a column near the column in question (hmmmm....).
What is going on here? And how can I work around it? Seems Google has some major bugs around this area or something ...
This is due to INDIRECT.
A partial workaround:
=IFERROR(INDIRECT("'"&C9&"'!A1"),RAND())
Use this instead of just INDIRECT in your formula. It still won't update on opening and closing. But it'll update, Whenever there's a edit anywhere in the sheet (making this a double volatile combo with RAND()).
Also, Try turning on recalculations every 6 hours or so in spreadsheet settings.
PS: Your Spreadsheet might burn🔥🔥 due to the heavy volatility.
Sorry for the late response, but I believe I have a solution that works a little better. I was experiencing the same problem with formulas involving almost exactly the same set of formulas.
Basically, just add in a check to see if now() equals an impossible time (0), and when it fails (every time), have it execute the formula that won't update on its own.

based on idea similar to TheMaster I defined a named range refresh and refered to it in the else portion of the IFERROR formula.
Whenever I create a new sheet, rename an existing one, or feel the need to make sure all indirects are updated I simply edit the content of refresh, and put it back to blank.
=arrayformula(iferror(indirect(B11&"!D42:H42");refresh))
I used Berteh's idea, but found that putting the refresh range within the else portion of the iferror removed the benefit of having a way to have a blank cell if there is no value, or what ever else you'd want to use the else for.
So, to maintain that, I put this together which seems gets us the benefit of preserving the benefit of using iferror and forcing the indirect to update.
=IF(refresh!$A$1=1,IFERROR(VLOOKUP($B68,INDIRECT(D$66&"A1:aa2000"),8,0),""))
Updating the value of the refresh range will force a recalculation (I change the value of cell A1 from 1 to a 0 and then back to 1). I've implemented this on multiple rows across multiple sheets and not found this to blow up the Google Sheet.

Link columns so data updates are properly reflected

I have a column with data values and I want to link it to other columns in the same and different sheets but in the same spreadsheet. This is, having the same data in different columns in a spreadsheet while keeping all linked so updates on the source one would affect all of them.
I've tried with:
=SheetName!ColumnIndex:ColumnIndex
(e.g. =Sheet1!A:A) but, although it works, it is a cell reference not a column reference.
What is the best way to achieve it?
Maybe what you want is just the array version of what you have already tried:
=arrayformula(Sheet1!A:A)
(If not, please clarify!)
