Mqtt: How to install mosquitto old version - mqtt

I have installed mosquitto using the command apt-get install mosquitto. It is installed successfully on my system, but I got version "1.4.5". I want to downgrade to version 1.4.4, so I was trying using the source tar file. Under folder, I am running the command make and it is throwing an error:
set -e; for d in lib client src; do make -C ${d}; done
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/ubuntu/org.eclipse.mosquitto-1.4.4/lib'

make[1]: *** [mosquitto.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/ubuntu/org.eclipse.mosquitto-1.4.4/lib'

What is going wrong here?. Is there any another way to install 1.4.4 version of mosquitto?
Thanks

You're missing dependencies needed for compilation.
Try:
apt-get install libc-ares-dev libssl-dev libwrap0-dev uthash-dev uuid-dev
If you want libwebsockets support you can either install libwebsockets-dev, or better install it manually from source - that will get you version 1.5 instead of the old 1.2 that is in Debian/Ubuntu.
If you install the manually compiled version with
make prefix=/usr install
then it will overwrite the existing binary and you can use it with the existing system services.

Setting up environment for group project, getting error when running "make install"

I am setting up the environment for a group project which requires the "make install" command to install ruby and gems. I had to install an older version of Ruby per the project instructions (Ruby 2.7.2) and had to the following first:
rbenv (brew install rbenv) v1.2.0
Docker v20.10.17
Docker Compose v1.29.2
When I run "make install", I get the following error:

Still can't get past the "make install" error. I tried googling the error, no luck. Should I be doing the setup inside the docker app instead of terminal?

How to install llvm#13 with Homerew on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6? Got "Built target lldELF" error

Although High Sierra is no longer supported by Homebrew, but I need to install llvm#13 formula as a dependency for other formulas. So I tried to install it this way:

How can I fix that compilation error?
Install llvm with debug mode enabled:
$ brew install --debug llvm
Installation process encounters with the same error mentioned in the question, but some options are provided to fix the issue. Choose option 5:
- raise
- ignore
- backtrace
- irb
- shell
Choose an action: 5
It gives a shell access to the current build directory of llvm formula. Find the current folder:
$ pwd
/private/tmp/llvm-20211109-12151-m0zvtm/llvm-project-13.0.0.src
Change the location to the build directory:
cd llvm/build
Edit the HostInfoMacOSX.mm and remove the second part of condition:
vi ../../lldb/source/Host/macosx/objcxx/HostInfoMacOSX.mm
You need to change the line 246 from:
if (cputype == CPU_TYPE_ARM64 && cpusubtype == CPU_SUBTYPE_ARM64E) {
to:
if (cputype == CPU_TYPE_ARM64) {
Then re-run the last command:
$ cmake --build .
It takes some time to be completed:

==> Caveats
To use the bundled libc++ please add the following LDFLAGS:
LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/opt/llvm/lib -Wl,-rpath,/usr/local/opt/llvm/lib"
llvm is keg-only, which means it was not symlinked into /usr/local,
because macOS already provides this software and installing another version in
parallel can cause all kinds of trouble.
If you need to have llvm first in your PATH, run:
echo 'export PATH="/usr/local/opt/llvm/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.zshrc
For compilers to find llvm you may need to set:
export LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/opt/llvm/lib"
export CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/opt/llvm/include"
==> Summary
🍺 /usr/local/Cellar/llvm/13.0.0_1: 10,907 files, 1.8GB, built in 1418 minutes 39 seconds
It can be verified this way, the default llvm#10 pre-installed:
$ /usr/bin/clang --version
Apple LLVM version 10.0.0 (clang-1000.11.45.5)
Target: x86_64-apple-darwin17.7.0
Thread model: posix
InstalledDir: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin
And the new Homebrew version of llvm#13:
$ /usr/local/opt/llvm/bin/clang --version
Homebrew clang version 13.0.0
Target: x86_64-apple-darwin17.7.0
Thread model: posix
InstalledDir: /usr/local/opt/llvm/bin
#HamidRohani provides a great solution for those still tinkering in High Sierra (10.13). Getting a recent version of LLVM to compile on my old MAC with an older XCode (clang version 10.0.1 in my case) was a great help. My nominal contribution...
Alternatively, you could define the symbol after line 41 in HostInfoMacOSX.mm:
// Kludge: Symbol definition extracted from a modern machine.h
#ifndef CPU_SUBTYPE_ARM64E
# define CPU_SUBTYPE_ARM64E ((cpu_subtype_t) 2)
#endif
Now, there's no need to modify line 246. And the definition would resolve any (possible) subsequent references. And let me aggregate the steps shown above conducted in brew's debug-shell:
cmake . -DLLVM_CREATE_XCODE_TOOLCHAIN=On
cmake --build .
cmake --build . --target install
cmake --build . --target install-xcode-toolchain
Regarding the LLVM-related variable, setting LLVM_CREATE_XCODE_TOOLCHAIN to On directs CMake to generate a target named 'install-xcode-toolchain'. 1 The target is a work-around to System Integrity Protection (SIP); "Xcode toolchains are a mostly-undocumented feature that allows multiple copies of low level tools to be installed to different locations, and users can easily switch between them." 2
Brew's Caveats
Brew gives you few caveats necessary to use the new compiler: "because macOS already provides this software and installing another version in parallel can cause all kinds of trouble." To use your new compiler, "You need to have llvm first in your PATH and for compilers to find llvm you may need to set" LDFLAGS and CDFLAGS. But since these gems-of-wisdom appear near the end of a million-lines of output, let me re-iterate here:
export PATH="/usr/local/opt/llvm/bin:$PATH"
export LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/opt/llvm/lib"
export CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/opt/llvm/include"
Setting PATH is straight forward. I however, didn't need to set LDFLAGS or CPPFLAGS. Further, no joy with this additional caveat, "To use the bundled libc++ please add the following LDFLAGS":
export LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/opt/llvm/lib -Wl,-rpath,/usr/local/opt/llvm/lib"
Anyway, moving on... To demonstrate that all's good, a C++ foo program that incorporates <filesystem>; a library not in High Sierra:
#include <iostream>
// C++17: Modern C++ compiler has std filesystem
#include <filesystem>
namespace fs = std::filesystem;
typedef std::filesystem::path my_path;
using namespace std;
int main ()
{
fs::path path{"/tmp"};
path /= "foo.txt";
ofstream ofs(path);
ofs << "Hello World." << endl;
ofs.close();
return 0;
}
Clearly, a nonsensical program, But to compile:
unset CPPFLAGS
unset LDFLAGS
clang++ -std=c++17 -L/usr/local/opt/llvm/lib foo.cpp -o foo
Again, showing That I didn't need CPPFLAGS and LDFLAGS. And so, The executable links to the correct libc++ library:
MacIntel:c++fs mjo$ otool -L foo
foo:
/usr/local/opt/llvm/lib/libc++.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0)
/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1252.50.4)
Enjoy.

Does anyone know how to solve this?
Unfortunately installation of mumps package with brew is very problematic at this moment. You have two different ways to install mumps
Method 1:
brew tap brewsci/science
brew install mumps
if that didn't work, download mumps.rb from here
brew install ./mumps.rb
Method 2
brew tap dpo/openblas
brew install mumps
The second method might lead to some issues with scalapack later.
Update: Unfortunately the above method might not work properly anymore. I have updated the installation method here.

BUILD FAILED
Am I missing any dependency or package?
I hit the same problem. On my ubuntu 14.04 system /usr/include/asm didn't exist. It was called asm-generic instead. I sym-linked it and the build was able to continue.
cd /usr/include
sudo ln -s asm-generic/ asm
The build was able to continue after that.
This is probably because you're trying to build an application without some of the include paths correctly set, for example using a 32-bit gcc on a 64-bit platform.
To resolve:
sudo apt-get install gcc-multilib
I'm not sure why this happens, but sometimes /usr/include/asm gets deleted. My teammates who looked at their Ubuntu x86-64 workstations found that the asm symlink was:
0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 May 22 2013 /usr/include/asm -> x86_64-linux-gnu/asm
And the command to recreate it is:
$ cd /usr/include
$ sudo ln -s x86_64-linux-gnu/asm asm
The files in /usr/include/asm-generic are sometimes, but not always, equivalent to the files in the x86-64 specific directory; so it's difficult to recommend symlinking it as a workaround.

Any ideas?? This is only the umpteenth time I've had issues installing imagemagick on a computer. Seems they change little things here and there all the time (for instance, I've never heard of "magickwand" before now).
I complied ImageMagick according to http://www.imagemagick.org/script/install-source.php#unix
Then I followed http://verysimple.com/2011/12/21/install-image-magick-for-php-on-osx/
Had the following error fatal error: 'wand/MagickWand.h' file not found
Then I found http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=22644
Had to find the solution in config.m4, it was exporting pkgconfig:
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH="`MagickWand-config --prefix`/lib/pkgconfig/"
Then I configured with the following:
LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/lib" CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/include" ./configure --with-imagick=/usr/local
