I'm trying to debug my rails application with the derailed_benchmarks gem. I am following the instructions on their Github. I can run my server locally in production, but when I try to execute the command derailed exec perf:mem_over_time I get the following error:

My application uses puma, so I had to specify that when I ran the command.

I'm new to Jekyll and I'm having a hard time installing the jekyll-polyglot plugin. My latest issues is the following, when trying to run "bundle exec" in the terminal. What is this 'helper x86_64-darwin-19'?

I am writing a Ruby on Rails web application to be deployed on Heroku.
The development database is SQLite and the production database is PostgreSQL.
Everything works locally in the development and test environments, and worked on Heroku up until the last batch of revisions. Suddenly, attempting to create an instance of the Customer model is throwing
'NoMethodError undefined method `each' for nil:nilclass'.
The migrations have definitely been run, I have tried pg:reset and re-running migrations, and I have also tried restarting heroku.
If I open the rails console on heroku and try to call any of the following methods I get the same error
Customer.count
Customer.create(...)
Customer.new
Can anyone help resolve this issue?

So it turned out the problem was due to the inclusion of gem 'transaction_faker' in my gem-file, which added the module descriptive_statistics (the source of the problem). My GUESS is that it must override the sum method of the Enumerable module used in the conversion from migration to Postgres, or something along those lines.
so first time working with rails i work with django
I tried deploying the local server and it failed because of a key error known as s3_bucket_name because I didn't have the ENV file which contained the variables
so then i got the ENV file and placed it in the root of the application.
then I tried to launch the app with no go.
Then I ran the command rake.
Which it complained:

The error is caused by using Hash#fetch in config/initializers/s3.rb. That's a good thing. Don't change that. Your app requires that ENV value to work correctly, so it breaks if it's not set. (Everything within config/initializers/ runs on startup. This s3.rb file is not part of Rails core and was added by the app's author.)
Make sure your Gemfile has dotenv-rails specified. If it doesn't, add it (see https://github.com/bkeepers/dotenv) and type bundle in the terminal from your Rails root directory. (Note that dotenv-rails is also not part of Rails core.)
The root of your Rails app is the directory containing containing the files Gemfile, Gemfile.lock, etc. and the directories app/, bin/, config/, db/, lib/, etc. (i.e. C:/Users/chris/Documents/suitsandtables/). You can confirm by jumping into the Rails console (rails c or bundle exec rails c in the terminal) and typing Rails.root.
The env file should be named .env (thus the name of gem: dotenv) and should be located in your Rails root directory.
You can test your .env file through rails c by typing:

If you have any Rails servers or tasks running, restart them to pick up these changes.

When I run ruby -v I get the following:
ruby 1.9.1p376 (2009-12-07 revision 26041) [i686-linux]
I had this problem.
The solution is to downgrade rubygems to a version you support.
I needed version 1.3.5 (for rails 2.3.5)
So you need to do:
gem install rubygems-update -v 1.3.5
update_rubygems --version=1.3.5
And now rake should work.
This worked for me.
rvm rubygems 1.6.2
I'm having a similar problem to this gentleman here.
I've been trying to run a cucumber feature via a rake task. And I've been picking up the specified error in the title.

the dev/null was in config/initializers/quiet_assets and I replaced dev/null with logger.txt
if you are working on the same application on *nix and windows you could replace '/dev/null'
with RUBY_PLATFORM != 'i386-mingw32' ? '/dev/null' : 'NUL'
for me it was in quiet_assets.rb and I replaced
Rails.application.assets.logger = Logger.new('/dev/null')
with
Rails.application.assets.logger = Logger.new(RUBY_PLATFORM != 'i386-mingw32' ? '/dev/null' : 'NUL')
I actually figured it out. There was a configuration setting in the application I'm working on in one of the slightly obscured files. It set the path of the logger to "/dev/null". I just changed it to "logger.txt" and it works now.
