XCode keeps revoking all my provisioning profiles - ios

We're working on the same project 2 persons. I don't understand why Apple forces the use of a "Development" profile, since develop isn't really supposed to be signed but whatevs. My issue is each time we compile on our machines, XCode invalidate existing provisioning profiles and create a "Managed" one.
Obviously this isn't XCode fault, but we failed to understand how it is supposed to work. Can we get an step by step on how to set up both development and production on more than 1 machine, using the "Managed by XCode" option, so we don't have to create a CSR each time? Thanks in advance

The short answer? Don't manage your provisioning profiles with XCode, I myself and countless others have the same issue and the only way I found around it was to manage them myself or using something like Sigh

Xcode 8 A valid provisioning profile for this executable was not found

I know there are other questions asked like this here but I've followed all their solutions yet still end up with this error message.
I have a valid Apple Developer account with program active.
I have tried using managed and unmanaged provisioning with new/fresh bundle ID's (which get recreated provisioning profiles).
I have tried this: A valid provisioning profile for this executable was not found for debug mode
I have tried this: XCode :7 App installation failed :A valid provisioning profile for this executable was not found
I have deleted any old versions of the app from my phone.
I have confirmed my device ID on the developer portal is the same as in Xcode (was also useful for manual provisioning profile management to confirm)
I even tried another developer ID I have out of sheer desperation and yet the same error appears.
I even get this error when building for release scheme with my valid distribution certificate.
I've spent a ton of time trying to figure this out now I'm hoping someone else has felt my pain and actually solved this.
UPDATE: Adding screenshots for usefulness
UPDATE 2: I gave up trying to solve this problem, I created a new project and copied source files into the new project and I now have it working. Clearly something in the project configuration/settings files got corrupted somehow in the previous project which no obvious fix available. Will leave this question open, perhaps someone has a solution eventually. I have my old 'non-working' project so will continue to try those just for curiousities sake.
Before this error message, Build Succeeded is shown.
ATTENTION!
Who should read
If you were developing with a "Personal Team" and is switching to a paid team, then you'll get this error if you have not updated your other targets as well.
The cause
Since I'm using react-native, I happen to have a target for test (i.e. a target called appTests), and switching the team just in one target wasn't sufficient, and leads to this error. This error isn't informative enough to let you know there's an error in one of the targets, therefore leading to a long debugging time for myself.
Solution
1) On Xcode 9, go to every targets and update the team!
2) Unfortunately, the next steps aren't very reliable from my experience, you might have to do your best to clean the caches.
3) Stop every single running scheme/application by using the stop button
4) Go to Product -> Clean and cleans every schemes you use.
5) Quit and Restart Xcode
6) Run again and hopefully it works! If not, it's likely some cache are still present.
You can't install a build that was signed with the app store distribution provisioning profile and certificate (I'm assuming your release scheme is set to use your app store cert and profile). It will fail to install on the device if you try. You need to use either a development profile, or an enterprise distribution profile to install on test devices. The iOS Distribution certificate can only be used to build an app that will be installed via the App Store.
Thats a conflict of Xcode. The way I solved it is by deleting the derived data of Xcode.
Xcode > Preferences > Locations
You will see an arrow right from the path of the DerivedData which will open them in finder. Just erase everything in the folder.
Update: According to Chandler's comment check if there is a need to delete the test target.
I solved it by changing the build system to legacy in Xcode 10
File > Workspace Settings > Set Build system to "Legacy Build System"
It works when I also add the correct signing for myProjectTests. This was the last thing I did after trying all sort of solutions for 5 hours.
I followed many proposals but it didn't work until I unchecked Automatic signing for the TESTS
Clearing the DEVELOPMENT_TEAM and DevelopmentTeam entries in the xcodeproj/project.pbxproj file worked for me.
I'm on 8.2.1 and just had this same error. Deleting the original project folder and recreating it worked seamlessly. I verified that all of the signing and provisioning certificates were exactly the same as the last project. I'm not sure where the issue lies, but I believe your assumption of corrupted files is accurate.
In my case it was a conflict with the development team.
I've solved by opening my xcodeproj/project.pbxproj and emptying the following variables:
DevelopmentTeam
DEVELOPMENT_TEAM
We had a similar issue: we deleted the Unit Tests and it worked.
In my case, it was the problem when I setup my time manually two month earlier on my iPhone. But when I changed to set time automatically, it worked fine.
Setting -> General -> Date & Time -> set time automatically
GOTO: Targets->yourProjectNameTest and verify that team is the same as on yourProjectName
I had this problem too, and for me the solution was to sign in to https://developer.apple.com. There was a red bar, going like "our TOS have changed, you have to accept them again", I did, and then my provisioning profiles worked again immediately.
An easier fix is to uncheck the test target as part of the Analyze & Run steps in Edit Scheme > Build -> Build.
This is very specific to React Native projects, since this is how the projects are configured by default.
In my case it worked for me to follow the instructions in this article. Then disable Automatically manage signing inside xcode in the general tab.
Automatically manage signing disabled
And finally provide manually Provisioning Profile for Signing (Debug) and Signing (Release)
Note: The Provisioning Profile you must generate it from Apple Developer Program website, in the section Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles -> Provisioning Profiles
I hope you find it useful. regards
Step to be followed
must have a developer account - https://developer.apple.com
create a certificate for development
Add devices with UDID
add provisioning profile in development
sign in Xcode with your account
clean build
Build with any destination choose device I have done for iphone 6
the archive will be disabled first, the archive will be active by choosing
generic ios device from the right corner of Xcode for example ->
yourAppName>generic ios device
once archive is done build for development not ADHOC
done
I fixed it by setting in main Target / Build Settings / Section Signing
Code signing Identity: Debug and Release set to IOS Developer
Code Signing Style: Automatic
Provision Profile: all automatic.
I set this exactly same for Test Target.
Then i was able to run release version on my phone. Btw i dont know what is the difference between IOS Developer and iOS Distriobution though.
I had edited my app scheme Build Configuration from Debug to Release, and unchecked the Debug Executable.
I am not sure why, but if it makes a difference my signing details for Debug and Release were different. So after I reset those back to Debug and checked back the Debug Executable box, and all was fine again.
Edit: found out it was because I was trying to run release mode on my phone via App Store provisioning profile and App Store profile doesn't allow this. I switched to Ad Hoc and there is no more issues.
I guess you already tried this, but I just got the same error, and a quick restart of Xcode worked for me.
Just upgrade to Xcode 8.1. It solves the problem.

Organisation developer program update makes apps impossible to install

I recently updated my organisation developer program so I can use it one more year, but now my apps seem to be impossible to install, I got this famous error :
app_name can't be installed at this time
I got this problem on the App Store and for Ad Hoc distribution as well.
My certificates and my provisioning profiles are fine.
Did someone have the same issue recently ?
What could it be ?
Thanks in advance for your answers !
I believe you may have changed your app build settings and are likely not building with the enterprise distribution profile. That error usually means you are building with a regular development provisioning profile and the device's UDID is not in the list.
Verify your app's build settings are set to build using the Enterprise Distribution Profile.
If you do not believe that to be the case, post the Console logs from the device during an install attempt to find the actual error.
I finally found where the problem came from and it is a bit stupid. Actually, someone in my team recently changed our certificate on the Apple member center but didn't add this certificate to our build server.
After adding the certificate to the build server, everything worked as expected.

How to submit to iTunes Connect in XCode 6

This must be the worst question ever asked.
I'm almost ashamed to ask it but I can't wrap my head around this.
We are trying to push my app to itunes connect for beta testing.
Now there is no way to do this because XCode 6 gives all signing errors available.
We are able to run the app on the development device just as usual. We have the profiles.
But when we set the release sign identity to iOS Distribution, the hell breaks loose.
No matching identity was the first error. Fix issue releases another error:
No provisioning profiles with a valid signing identity were found.
It's useful to note that XCode knows this better than I do so it changes the code signing identity back to developer.
That's not me, I want to distribute.
Ok so at this time we're stuck at this error. We don't know where it came from, but we do know there was another error.
While pressing the submit button in the organizer the error was:
"You already have a valid provisioning profile"
According to the apple documentation I should press the revoke & request button but that isn't there.
So here we are, totally stuck and have no idea where to go now. The apple docs are incomplete, the signing gives errors but no logs. Errors messages change, but are consistent.
What the hell should we do now?
Reinstall OSX and remove all existing profiles? What will happen with current clients running apps on those profiles?
Have a look in yoru account and check that the provisioning profiles are active and not invalid. You might need to regenerate it.
You might also want to download them manually and install them yourself.
Sometimes I've had to archive the app then submit 'manually' using application loader.
I would recommend going back to basics:
check your development and distribution profiles on the developer site. if you have recently renewed your annual subscription, you might need to recreate them.
when you are archiving make sure you chose the real testing device, not a simulator.
if both doesn't work, create a new empty project and sign it with the profiles and archive. if that works, then check if you altered the bundle settings. if it doesn't work, delete your profiles and recreate them.
I hope that helps.
Hmm. I understand the plight of having to deal with the overly complex process of app submission which should have been rather simple.
Two things:
Make sure you delete all the provisioning profiles. Revoke and request a new one. Create a new certificate with distribution licence (you can make upto 3).
Once you've done that go to tour XCode > Preferences > Accounts and open up the apple id you find there. Refresh and that should download and fix redundancies.
For more I think you should also give this a read.
How do you beta test an iphone app?
About you second issue. What would happen to apps packed with previous profiles?
Well, your app is not bundled with a particular profile and so you can create a new one and use that without pain

xcode error "is not signed with an apple submission certificate"

I have tried EVERYTHING.
From removing the certivicated, invalidating them, redownloading all certificates etc.
Nothing seems to be working.
I have been trying all resolutions (using search) but none seem to fix this problem for me. Does anyone have another suggestion? or something i can do to resolve this?
It is driving me nuts! :)
Thanks in advance.
Did you use the iPhone Configuration Utility to better control which profiles are installed on your mac?
If you have not used yet, you can download it for free here
iPhone Configuration Utility lets you easily create, maintain,
encrypt, and install configuration profiles, track and install
provisioning profiles and authorized applications, and capture device
information including console logs.
And here you can see your Provisioning Profiles
~/Library/MobileDevice/Provisioning Profiles

iOS - cannot validate my app "No identities are available for signing" [duplicate]

I have an error "No identities are available for signing" when try to validate my app in Xcode 5. I tried all: Recreate certificates and provisioning profiles, all methods which have been described on this site and another resources; I'm confused, because when I try to distribute my app as Ad-hoc, it successfully create and install on test device an IPA file. But when I try validate my app or submit to AppStore, all the time I have an error. Maybe someone can help me with this issue.
All you need to do is:
go to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles in the Developer Center
create a new provisioning profile in "Provisioning Profiles" / "Distribution"
download the profile and open it
restart Xcode
Please make sure you are using distribution provisioning profiles, rather than Development.
And the code sign setting in Xcode is compatible with the distribution provisioning profiles.
The validation process does not work with Ad-hoc profiles. Need to create a Distribution provisioning profile. It is not specified in the instructions for beta testing. I agonized all day until realized.
Use the Application Loader (Xcode -> Open Developer Tool -> Application Loader).

Restarting Xcode solved the problem for me! Restart and/or clean solves 99% of all issues...
#CainaSouza 's comment above worked for me. I didn't even have to create any new provisioning profiles.
I just had to go to Xcode > Preferences > Accounts > (Apple ID) > View Details and hit the refresh button. After a minute or two it was done and had loaded my provisioning profiles. I didn't even have to select it in my project options, it had already selected my most recently generated one.
Clean your Product Build Folder (with Alt button)
Restart Xcode
It solved my same issue
I had a similar issue. Found out that the bundle identifier did not match the app id that was on itunes connect - it was capitalized differently. Fixed the issue by making the identifiers match.
Yes the appID and bundle identifier must match. Remember it is CASE-SENSITIVE. That was the problem for me.
I updated to Maverick and Xcode 5 and had the same issue even though I had everything ok in Profiles. I created a new Distribution profile (identical to the old one), added it by refreshing profiles and the issue was solved without rebuilding.
Apple Decided to "Magically Dissapear" my distribution provisioning profile from their site after upgrading to a newer Xcode, giving me this problem too.
Solution is obvious only once I had discovered this fact!
-Create new Distribution Provisioning Profile
-Download & install it / Refresh Xcode preferences under account details
I fixed this issue by delete the old development/distribute profiles and create new one with new names.
I had a mismatch between the Bundle Identifier within Xcode and the App ID on Developer.Apple.Com (Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles). This StackOverflow post was a great help to me. For a little extra info check out this blog post. The official documentation for the touch command can be found here. I had quit Xcode before doing the below. Upon completion of the details below and reopening Xcode my issue was resolved.
Use a text editor to update the bundle identifier to match the App ID, the Info.plist file is located:
ProjectName > ProjectName > ProjectName > ProjectName-Info.plist
Your looking for the following lines:
<key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
<string>MyCompany.${PRODUCT_NAME:rfc1034identifier}</string>
Update the value to match you App ID, eg:
<string>com.MyCompany</string>
Use the terminal to issue the touch command, ensure your within the above listed directory:
touch ProjectName-Info.plist
If you are using Xcode 5.1 or above (which you would be now), this helped me: Code signing broken on Xcode 5.1 + iOS 7.1
The key is to delete the old provisioning profile on your mac and create a new one (with a different name?) from Apple web site and download it. Looks like Xcode 5.1 corrupts the existing provisioning profile and it does not help even if you re-download it again.
My solution was to go into the dev center, find the distribution provisioning profile, and it had expired. So i tapped edit on it, and renewed it, downloaded it, installed it, chose the profile in the build settings, and it worked.
HTH someone.
Of all the development issues I've faced over my 20+ years as a software developer, none have wasted so much time as the code-signing/provisioning profile rubbish in Xcode.
This week, I have wasted 8+ hours trying to build an Ad-hoc release of our iPhone app. In the past, it just worked, I could Archive, stick a download button on our in-house webpage, and users could just install our app from this page.
But, this week, I was facing the same "No identities are available" issue, described here.
EVENTUALLY, here's what solved the issue for me:
When I logged into the hopeless Apple Developers website, it showed that our company had 2 "iOS Distribution" certificates. They were valid, their expiry dates are months away, and in the Keychain Access application, the certificates were installed and valid... no problems here.
But what fixed my issue was to delete these two certificates, recreate a new one, then recreate my "In house" Provisioning Profile (as the original one was now showing as being invalid, as it used the old "iOS Distribution" certificate).
I also went into the "Keychain Access" application on my MacBook, and deleted all "iOS Distribution" keychains.
Then, I downloaded the new certificates & provisioning profiles, now, finally, Xcode would report that there was an identity which I could code-sign with.
To the Xcode development team:
Please. Get this fixed.
If a developer like myself, is up against a wall, unable to get a valid Provisioning Profile, which will result in a downloadable app, which will fail each time on "The app couldn't be downloaded at this time" message.. DON'T allow the Archive function to be used.
Instead, TELL the user what the problem is. HELP them resolve it, rather than going through the motions, and happily allowing them to create Archives which will never be useable.
And if an Ad-Hoc install is invalid, please put something in the Log to explain what's gone wrong, and make this accessible from Xcode. Currently your "The app can't be downloaded at this time" message is both useless and misleading.
One last thing (if this helps):
Our company accidentally let its Developer Enterprise Program license expire last month. We did then renew, everything was seemingly okay again, but perhaps, behind the scenes, this messed up our "iOS Distribution" certificate ? And perhaps, not. From the Apple website's point of view, everything was fine.
My issue was that I had none.myApp in my Bundle Identifier whereas in the AppID, I had com.myApp.
This drove me crazy for hours.
I ran into this issue today and it seems to be related to the face that the profile started with a number. I deleted the profile and recreated it exactly the same way (after a lot of other troubleshooting steps found on SO) EXCEPT this time I started with a word instead of a number. Coincidence? Not sure but worth trying.
Had this yesterday and could not figure it out, no matter what I did! To solve the problem, I went to both the Project and the Target in Xcode, and under code signing, chose
Code signing identity: Don't code sign
Provisioning profile: None
Build, and then Product > Archive, and now Organizer chose the correct code signing identities and profiles to allow it to get to the Validation step. Woohoo!
It happen to me after update Xcode.
I fixed doing the follow
change the sign in to "no sign"
restart Xcode
set it to the correct sign
re-archive the build
I hope it helps
Apple Documentation
"If Xcode doesn’t find signing identities, a dialog stating “No identities are available for signing” appears. Verify that you have a distribution certificate and an ad hoc provisioning profile before continuing.
If your ad hoc provisioning profile doesn’t appear in the Provisioning Profile pop-up menu when you create the iOS App Store Package, refresh the profiles in Xcode, as described in “Refreshing Provisioning Profiles in Xcode.”"
In my case, the adhoc provisioning that I wanted to set was not selectable in Code Signing in Build Settings. Though, I created and downloaded the adhoc provisioning from developer store. The answers mentioned here didn't work for me. Fix Issue button in General tab fixed the issue by downloading the required adhoc provisioning file by itself.
Creating a new certificate, Profile in Apple development center did not work for me! I tried editing a profile/certificates and download again and double click to install in KeyChain, but still did not work. I restarted XCode (Version 7 and Mac on El Capitan), restarted Mac but still did not work!
What worked for me is:
XCode -> Preferences -> Accounts - Then I deleted the Apple ID.
Shutdown my Mac, and restarted it.
Started my XCode, added the Apple ID, went to view details in Apple ID's and downloaded the Provisional Profile again and only then it started working!
Restarting solved my problem. I have a new mac and tried downloading the profiles, which should've transferred anyways. restarting solved it.
