I am working on integrating IDMPhotoBrowser into my app that uses an AWSS3 bucket. If I enter the link into my browser, it properly downloads the image. If I pass the link through an AWSS3TransferManager it also works. It even works when I use SDWebImage and specify the url.
For some reason however, when I put the url into IDMPhotoBrowser, it will not load. I have tested it with other images not located in the bucket and they will load fine. I also have checked that the bucket is set to public, as are its objects.
I am about to attempt to use the MWPhotoBrowser since it uses SDWebImage. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know!
I was not able to determine why, but I found that AFNetworking as currently set up through IDMPhotoBrowser does not work with AWSS3.
There are two solutions. One was to use MWPhotoBrowser, which I implemented. The second was that there is a branch of IDMPhotoBrowser that another user has edited to use SDWebImage instead of AFNetworking. That repository can be found here: https://github.com/mythodeia/IDMPhotoBrowser
Hope this helps anyone else stuck on this problem even though I couldn't really solve it...only work around it.

I'm migrating from PHP 5+ to PHP 7+ on standard app engine.
To upload file, I'm making a POST request to an internal endpoint with all form data (text and file to upload).
Actually what I was doing on v5 to let this work:
Get the URL with CloudStorageTools::createUploadUrl
POST everything to the url returned from the step before
In this way, all posted form (text and file to upload) was posted correctly to my internal endpoint and file can be uploaded on google storage.
Migrating to php 7+ CloudStorageTools::createUploadUrl can't be used.
Direcly upload working fine, if file is not so bigger.
For bigger file I haven't still found a solution, a lot of people have this problem but seems no one actually solved it.
There is some workaround or some tips to solve it?
I've already tested different methods got from here: https://googleapis.github.io/google-cloud-php/#/docs/cloud-storage/v1.23.2/storage/readme
No one is actually working (I got URL where upload, but at the end of upload everything crash).
Google documentation about that is not so clear, they say you can't use the older library, but actually online I can find always the same basically code that it's not good for larger file.
I built a rails app and set up s3 and paperclip together. So far, the images are being posted into my s3 account. But on the live app it's not actually showing the image and just showing the broken file icon.
Any ideas why this is happening? Is it a paperclip error? is it Heroku? Is it my controller?
Here's the live app: http://petaluma-marin.herokuapp.com/Nutrition-Recipes
Here's my repo: https://github.com/Gcamara14/Recipe_app
Thanks!!
Your url to the images is wrong. The URL for your second image currently is this
http://s3.amazonaws.com/recipe-app-gio/recipes/images/000/000/009/medium/Screen_Shot_2017-05-30_at_1.19.49_PM.png?1496243164
What it needs to be is this
http://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/recipe-app-gio/recipes/images/000/000/009/medium/Screen_Shot_2017-05-30_at_1.19.49_PM.png?1496243164
Notice instead of http://s3.aws... at the beginning you need http://s3-us-west-1.aws...
Whenever I have issues with S3 I find it is easiest to go to the bucket and look at the path and then inspect the image or asset and see if they match.
To give you a hint about what the issue might be, in your browser if you copy/paste the url for a photo you should see this message:
The bucket you are attempting to access must be addressed using the specified endpoint. Please send all future requests to this endpoint.
Take a look at your paperclip_defaults. You are missing the s3_host_name that would contain something like s3-us-west-1 (as mentioned in one of the prior answers).
Also looks like there is an issue already created in the paperclip repo that should help you out (here).
I am using AFHTTPNetworking In my tutorial.
I have one OutLet of ImageView
and I want to show some images from server.
I have server url like this link. I have not worked with this and i am new in iPhone. Can anyone suggest me a proper tutorial for this ?
I think you should read the tutorial: http://www.raywenderlich.com/59255/afnetworking-2-0-tutorial.
This is a tutorial is easy to understand about what should you need to solve your problems.
I would like to advice you to use SDWebImage library. It's among the best library I have used for Image caching.
Import UIImageView+Webcache in your project and use sd_setImageWithURL method.
I have been told this is possible to do but cannot get this to work.
Basically I am trying to cache and image using forge.file.cacheURL()
Now I can get the file just fine and display it in the page by creating a new Image object but what I want to do is use this cached image to change the image in the topbar.
When ever I try to do it I get an error saying "file not found" and after reading the docs a little more it seems that trigger may have "src/" coded into the class because if I put just "image/logo.png" the logo.png will show up in the header because its part of the app package.
I guess the question is.. Is my assumption correct?
Thanks!
The native UI elements (topbar/tabbar) load images directly from your apps package, not through a URL in the same ways images are shown in the webview.
What this means is that currently you can only use images included in your app in the topbar/tabbar modules.
in case anyone is interested in this, the ability was added a while ago to the API so you can now use a cached image or filesaveURL feature of forge to change the header image dynamically.
I am using appfile:/. The path is correct; if I put it on screen and copy-paste it in the explorer it links to the image.
Is there anything else I need to do?
UPDATED I have updated the library, now is more easy to use. Can you test it?
I am the author of the StageWebViewBridge class. There is a known problem if you are using Android. Anyway, I have a working solution I will update the next week.
If the problem is not in Android, then send me some code.
I am also confused on how to access locally packaged assets. I put them in the HTML folder as requested and when I send a signal to the StageWebViewBridge to set the .src attribute of a video I'm not sure how to do it.
Without StageWebViewBridge and entirely in a website I can just reference the file for a video object via JavaScript directly e.g. swvRef.src = 'file.mp4';. This works perfectly fine. When I try to tell flash to send a call via StageWebViewBridge it does receive the call to the StageWebView (I have JavaScript reporting it). However when I try to set the .src of a video object I can't figure out the correct path.
The documentation says to put all things in a 'html' folder. I did so. No reference to a .src of 'html/a.mp4' or 'a.mp4' or 'htmlCache/a.mp4' ever makes the new javascript html5 video class work.
Bridge otherwise is working perfectly sending AS->JS and JS->AS. I'm just looking for info on how to reference packaged files. I want to play a video I put in the /html folder and so far, I just can't do it.
Got the same issue and fixed it with "appfile:/"
Why do you require "appfile:/ for a local html file ?
If the treated html/js/css is local and asset is relative (aka ../ or no http://) you should treat them as "appfile:/" ?
If the treated file is distant you do not have to handle assets ?
Is there a best practice to work with "appfile:/" ?
Actually I debug my html/js/css game in the browser but if I use appfile:/ it will no longer works. I will have to handle 2 behaviors.
