I have an app that implements Horizontal gallery. I am able to display the image thumbnails. Now what I need to do is to enlarge the image when it is tapped. I am using EMNotificationPopup to display the enlarged image. Here's what I have so far:
This snippet is in my viewdidload:
UITapGestureRecognizer *singleTap;
UIImageView * imageview;
singleTap = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(handleImageTap:)];
[singleTap setNumberOfTouchesRequired:1];
[singleTap setNumberOfTapsRequired:1];
singleTap.delegate = self;
[imageview setUserInteractionEnabled:YES];
[imageview addGestureRecognizer:singleTap];
- (void) handleImageTap:(UIGestureRecognizer *)gestureRecognizer {
[self coreManagementWithPosition:EMNotificationPopupPositionCenter andType:EMNotificationPopupBig];
}
- (void) coreManagementWithPosition: (EMNotificationPopupPosition) position andType:(EMNotificationPopupType) notificationPopupType {
if (_notificationPopup.isVisible) {
[_notificationPopup dismissWithAnimation:YES];
_notificationPopup = NULL;
} else {
_notificationPopup = [[EMNotificationPopup alloc] initWithType:notificationPopupType enterDirection:EMNotificationPopupToDown exitDirection:EMNotificationPopupToLeft popupPosition:position];
_notificationPopup.delegate = self;
_notificationPopup.title = #"Sorry for this Alert message :)";
_notificationPopup.subtitle = #"Awesome message :)";
_notificationPopup.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"alert_image"];
if (notificationPopupType == EMNotificationPopupBigButton)
_notificationPopup.actionTitle = #"OK";
[_notificationPopup show];
}
}
My issue here is handleImageTap is not being initialised/called. How can enable the user interaction for imageview.

I added tapGesture for self.view and UILabel (subview of mainView), each performs different selectors.
But the only main view tapGesture is being called and label tapgesture is not being called. How it is handled?
Here is the code:
UITapGestureRecognizer *tapGesForSelf = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(tapGesForSelf:)];
[self.view addGestureRecognizer:tapGesForSelf];
UITapGestureRecognizer *tapLblClick = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(tapGesForLbl:)];
[lbl addGestureRecognizer:tapLblClick];
For two selectors only one method is called tapGesForSelf.
Here lbl is the subview of self.view.
Try this
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[super viewDidLoad];
[_lbl setUserInteractionEnabled:YES];
UITapGestureRecognizer *tapGesForSelf = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(tapGesForSelf:)];
[self.view addGestureRecognizer:tapGesForSelf];
UITapGestureRecognizer *tapLblClick = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(tapGesForLbl:)];
[_lbl addGestureRecognizer:tapLblClick];
[tapGesForSelf requireGestureRecognizerToFail:tapLblClick];
}
- (void)tapGesForSelf:(UITapGestureRecognizer *)gesture
{
NSLog(#"self");
}
- (void)tapGesForLbl:(UITapGestureRecognizer *)gesture
{
NSLog(#"label");
}
I post answer for your question now once I tried and it worked well.
First see the label in design.I set label text as "Tap Me"
Now I set the code for view and label
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
//TapGesture for Label
UITapGestureRecognizer *tapLabel = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(actionTapLabel:)];
tapLabel.delegate = self;
tapLabel.numberOfTapsRequired = 1;
lblTapMe.userInteractionEnabled = YES;
[lblTapMe addGestureRecognizer:tapLabel];
//TapGesture for View
UITapGestureRecognizer *tapMainView = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(actionTapMainView:)];
tapMainView.delegate = self;
tapMainView.numberOfTapsRequired = 1;
[self.view addGestureRecognizer:tapMainView];
}
//Action method for Label
-(void)actionTapLabel:(UITapGestureRecognizer *)gestureOnLabel{
UILabel *label = (UILabel *)gestureOnLabel.view;
NSLog(#"Lable text is - %#",label.text);
}
//Action method for View
-(void)actionTapMainView:(UITapGestureRecognizer *)gestureOnMainView{
NSLog(#"The Main view is tapped");
}
Output Screenshot
Please setUserInteractionEnabled:YES for interact the TapGesture
[lbl setUserInteractionEnabled:YES];
I'm trying to implement a zoom feature for an iCarousel item view. This is my code :
NSString *pathToHDImage = [documentsFolderPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:solution.localHDURL];
if (!view) {
view = [[AsyncImageView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds];
view.contentMode = UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit;
UIPinchGestureRecognizer *pinchGesture = [[UIPinchGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(handlePinch:)];
pinchGesture.cancelsTouchesInView = false;
UIPanGestureRecognizer *panGesture = [[UIPanGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(handlePan:)];
panGesture.cancelsTouchesInView = false;
pinchGesture.delegate = panGesture.delegate = self;
[view addGestureRecognizer:pinchGesture];
[view addGestureRecognizer:panGesture];
((AsyncImageView *)view).imageURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:pathToHDImage];
} else
((AsyncImageView *)view).imageURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:pathToHDImage];
The problem is that my handlePan: and handlePinch: never get called. How can I do? The main goal is to implement zoom feature for every iCarousel item view.
Try this Code:
- (BOOL)gestureRecognizer:(UIGestureRecognizer *)gestureRecognizer shouldRecognizeSimultaneouslyWithGestureRecognizer:(UIGestureRecognizer *)otherGestureRecognizer
{
return YES;
}
I did not test but I hope it helps.
In case it does not work check out this link1 and then this link2
I have code like this..
in loadView()
I have created the scrollview like this with no.of taps and max value
self.scrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds];
self.scrollView.delegate = self;
self.scrollView.maximumZoomScale = 2;
self.scrollView.autoresizingMask = self.view.autoresizingMask;
[self.view addSubview:self.scrollView];
UITapGestureRecognizer *tapOnce = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(handleSingleTap:)];
UITapGestureRecognizer *doubleTap = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(handleDoubleTap:)];
[tapOnce setNumberOfTouchesRequired:1];
[doubleTap setNumberOfTapsRequired:2];
[tapOnce requireGestureRecognizerToFail:doubleTap];
[self.scrollView addGestureRecognizer:tapOnce];
[self.scrollView addGestureRecognizer:doubleTap];
Method implementation:
- (void) handleSingleTap:(UIGestureRecognizer *)gestureRecognizer
{
//single tap in full screen mode it will dismiss the view
[self dismissViewControllerAnimated:YES completion:nil];
}
- (void)handleDoubleTap:(UIGestureRecognizer *)gestureRecognizer
{
//double tap will zoom the view to scrollview max value
[self.scrollView setZoomScale:self.scrollView.maximumZoomScale animated:NO];
}
Now I am able to "zoom" on tapping to full screen image and it will go in maxZoom value, but how to come back from zoomed to min value on double tap on the same, because I have functionality to dismiss the view on single tap. I need to handle one more double tap in the "handledoubleTap" method itself.
- (void)handleDoubleTap:(UIGestureRecognizer *)gestureRecognizer
{
if ( flag == 1 ){
flag = 0;
[self.scrollView setZoomScale:self.scrollView.maximumZoomScale animated:NO];
}
else {
flag = 1;
[self.scrollView setZoomScale:self.scrollView.minimumZoomScale animated:NO];
}
}
In the above method just set flag according to your need. Hope this helps.. :)
I am trying to add a tap gesture from a subclassed UIImageView and then control the tap from the View Controller. I am not getting any compiling errors but "addSubview" is not displaying any image. How can make the UIImageView to be displayed?
If I try to control the tap and pan gestures from the subclassed UIImageVIew I have no problems but I would like to control these functions from the View Controller
Relevant code looks like this.
UIImageView subclass
- (id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)aDecoder
{
self = [super initWithCoder:aDecoder];
if (self)
{
//self.userInteractionEnabled = YES;
previewController = [[PreviewController alloc]init];
[previewController self];
[self addSubview:character];
// Tap Initialization code
UITapGestureRecognizer *tap = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:(PreviewController *)self.previewController action:#selector(addCharacter:)];
[self addGestureRecognizer:tap];
self.userInteractionEnabled = YES;
}
return self;
}
View Controller
- (void)addCharacter:(UITapGestureRecognizer *)t
{
NSLog(#"add character");
imageNSArray = [NSMutableArray array];
uiImg = [UIImage imageNamed:#"homer.png"];
CGPoint loc = [t locationInView:self.view];
character = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:uiImg];
character.center = loc;
[imageNSArray addObject:character];
//Locate the imageNSArray on frameImageView area only.
[self.view addSubview:character];
UIPanGestureRecognizer *pan = [[UIPanGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(panCharacter:)];
[self.character addGestureRecognizer:pan];
character.userInteractionEnabled = YES;
}
put a view behind your subclassed imageView. Apply the gestureRecognition to the new View.
You can control your tap gesture from new view. Let me know if i am not clear, or if more info needed.
I think what you want is.. .you want to show a image when user taps on screen.
Do following steps:
1. drag & drop a tap gesture recognizer on default view of your view controller.
2. connect (ctrl +) gestureRecognizer with ViewController.m
Take a look at this code. (Just modified your code)
- (IBAction)onTap:(UITapGestureRecognizer *)sender {
NSLog(#"add character");
UIImage * uiImg = [UIImage imageNamed:#"sel.png"];
CGPoint loc = [sender locationInView:self.view];
UIImageView * character = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:uiImg];
character.center = loc;
[self.view addSubview:character];
}
Let me know if this is not what you want…
Edit
better go for this code… No need to do above steps.
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
// Do any additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib.
UITapGestureRecognizer *tap = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(onTap:)];
[self.view addGestureRecognizer:tap];
self.view.userInteractionEnabled = YES;
}
- (void)onTap:(UITapGestureRecognizer *)sender
{
NSLog(#"add character");
UIImage * uiImg = [UIImage imageNamed:#"sel.png"];
CGPoint loc = [sender locationInView:self.view];
UIImageView * character = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:uiImg];
character.center = loc;
[self.view addSubview:character];
}
I have trouble with creating list of ImageViews with tap gesture. When I create gesture, selector function is not called. When I create only one imageView function is called. Any idea why? It is all subview of a large scroll view.
This is my code:
UITapGestureRecognizer *singleTap = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(imageTaped:)];
singleTap.numberOfTapsRequired = 1;
singleTap.numberOfTouchesRequired = 1;
for(int k=0;k<MyList.count;k++){
for(int i=0;i<listSize;i++){
UIImageView *clickForDetail =[[UIImageView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(i*HELLO_WIDTH,k*LIST_ROW_HEIGH ,HELLO_WIDTH, LIST_ROW_HEIGH)];
clickForDetail.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
clickForDetail.tag = tag;
clickForDetail.userInteractionEnabled = YES;
[clickForDetail addGestureRecognizer:singleTap];
[myScroll addSubview:clickForDetail];
tag++;
}
}
and selector function:
-(void)imageTaped: (UITapGestureRecognizer *)recognizer
{
NSLog(#"single Tap on imageview");
}
Is it possible somehow to get tag of a ImageView that is clicked?
You need to put different tap gesture for each view object
for(int k=0;k<MyList.count;k++){
for(int i=0;i<listSize;i++){
UITapGestureRecognizer *singleTap = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(imageTaped:)];
singleTap.numberOfTapsRequired = 1;
singleTap.numberOfTouchesRequired = 1;
UIImageView *clickForDetail =[[UIImageView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(i*HELLO_WIDTH,k*LIST_ROW_HEIGH ,HELLO_WIDTH, LIST_ROW_HEIGH)];
clickForDetail.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
clickForDetail.tag = tag;
clickForDetail.userInteractionEnabled = YES;
[clickForDetail addGestureRecognizer:singleTap];
[epgScroll addSubview:clickForDetail];
tag++;
}
}
-(void)imageTaped: (UITapGestureRecognizer *)recognizer
{
NSLog(#"single Tap on imageview");
UIImageView *selectedTextView = (UIImageView *)recognizer.view;
}
