Jenkins build throwing an out of memory error - jenkins

We have Jenkins running on an ec2 instance. When doing a build, we see the following error:

I researched on this topic and tried various settings such as increasing the heap memory, ram and PermGenSize. Here is my current memory setting on Jenkins:
-Xms256m -Xmx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
Are there any other things that I'm missing that's causing an OOM?

I've sold the same problem. (I have ec2, t2.micro, Ubuntu 14, Jenkins, Tomcat, Maven).
By default you don't have swap space.
To confirm this:
free -m
Just add some. Try with 1 GB for begin.
sudo fallocate -l 1G /swapfile
sudo chmod 600 /swapfile
sudo mkswap /swapfile
sudo swapon /swapfile
Check again:
free -m

This is not a memory issue on JVM level, but on OS level. The JVM tries to allocate 224MB, but this amount of memory isn't available on OS level. This happens when the -Xmx settings of a JVM are larger than the amount of free memory in a system. Check the amount of free memory in the OS, and either limit the memory of your current JVM so that fits within the free memory, or try to free up memory (by limiting the amount of memory other processes use) or try out an EC2 instance with more memory.

if you jules build failing for out of memory then follow below steps:
Increase memory size in manifest.yml file
Ex- memory:4270 M (increase here)
Add MAVEN_OPTS into config argument of jules.yml file

Error while installing the Minikube in AWS ubuntu 18.04 VM(t3.micro)

I am getting below error while installing/configuring conntrack-tools-1.4.6 using command ./configure --prefix=/usr.
I referered below links to install the minikube:

I tried setting the environment variable but still the same error.Please help to resolve the issue.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LIBNFNETLINK_CFLAGS

This could be caused by lack of memory in Your EC2 instance. The EC2 t3.micro only has 1GB of memory. Note that the article You are following uses instance that has only 1GB of memory and probably was barely enough for older minikube version.
Currently minikube requires at least 2GB of memory.
According to minikube:
What you’ll need
2GB of free memory
20GB of free disk space
Internet connection
Container or virtual machine manager, such as: Docker, Hyperkit, Hyper-V, KVM, Parallels, Podman, VirtualBox, or VMWare
I suggest retrying the instructions with additional memory (2gb in total) in Your instance.

Reducing Valgrind memory usage for embedded target

I'm trying to use Valgrind to debug a crashing program on an embedded Linux target. The system has roughly 31 MB of free memory when nothing is running, and my program uses about 2 MB of memory, leaving 29 MB for Valgrind. Unfortunately, when I try to run my program under Valgrind, Valgrind reports an error:
Valgrind's memory management: out of memory:
initialiseSector(TC)'s request for 27597024 bytes failed.
50,388,992 bytes have already been mmap-ed ANONYMOUS.
Valgrind cannot continue. Sorry.
Is there any way I can cut down Valgrind's memory usage so it will run successfully in this environment? Or am I just out of luck?
valgrind can be tuned to decrease (increase) its cpu/memory usage,
with an effect to decrease (increase) the information about problems/bugs.

Note however that running valgrind within 31MB (or so) seems an impossible task.

Getting insufficient memory for the Java Runtime Environment while running Jboss at Docker

We are getting below issue while running the Jboss at Runtime inside Docker.
We have created a .sh file to execute Jboss.

After starting hadoop, i cannot start mahout ..!

When Starting Mahout i got an error message like this

Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
i have installed openjdk0.6, Whether openjdk is supported by mahout
There's no OpenJDK 0.6 -- you mean 1.6. Yes Java 6 is supported, as you see in the project documentation. This does not seem to have anything to do with Mahout as it's an error from the JVM itself. The error itself says the problem: you requested a heap that's too large. So, I'd go see what heap you requested in Hadoop config and check it. This is the kind of info you should post in a question.
It's exactly what is says in the error message
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
check your your hadoop config files: hadoop-env.sh and
mapred-site.xml for any properties where you have allocated memory to JVM through the Xmx parameter and lower the values if you don't have enough physical memory.
If you have plenty of ram and you run java on 64-bit OS you need to add a -d64 java option to enforce 64-bit mode (it's not done by default in some cases)
Edit: for stand alone mode (your case) just use a proper Xmx value and -d64 if it is 64bits OS
JAVA_HEAP_MAX parameter in mahout file you're running should be lowered. It was 3GB in the mahout version I downloaded.

ANT_OPTS -Xmx1024m not working

I am setting ANT_OPTS in the environment to "-Xms256m -Xmx1024m". After setting this, I am not able to run ant files from command prompt. It throws me an error of:
"Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine."
Although I have enough physical memory available (more than 2048m available) to allot 1024m for ANT_OPTS, but still it throws the above error. Can there be any other reason why I cannot set Xmx to 1024m ?
Anyway, here is how to fix it:
Go to Start->Control Panel->System->Advanced(tab)->Environment Variables->System Variables->New:
Variable name: _JAVA_OPTIONS
Variable value: -Xmx512M
or
set _JAVA_OPTS="-Xmx512M"
or
Change the ant call as shown as below.
<exec>
<arg value="-J-Xmx512m" />
</exec>
then build the files again using the ant.
It worked for me.
You don't mention what OS you're running. If you're on Windows (especially 32-bit) I often see problems allocating more than, say, 800MB as heap, regardless of how much actual memory you have available. This isn't really Windows bashing: the Windows JVM wants to allocate all of its heap in a contiguous chunk and if it can't it fails to start.
I think Java maximum memory on Windows XP does a good job of explaining the problem and how you might try to solve it.
What ever you set initially as minimum heap, the JVM will try to allocate at start up.It seems in your machine (32 bit machine I assume) the JVM is unable to allocate and JVM start up fails. Try setting -Xms to 128 or less. It should work.
