I have an UITableView with varying height, and when pressing reorder control, in the cell view structure a new view appears. Normally it is not a problem, but sometimes its height is quite big, and it overlaps, with cell below.
Why this view appears?
How can I get rid of it?
Or prevent to overlap other cells?
This view is part of the reorder mechanism and can't be removed. It is used to hide the cell content while you drag a screenshot view above the tableview.
If you set the cell clipsToBounds as YES, it should prevent it's content overlapping other cells.

I'm trying to make a fullscreen tableView but also have some space at the top when the viewcontroller first appears for a searchbar which disappears when you scroll the tableView, right now I'm hacking it by making an invisible cell at top, however is there a way for it to do so that only when you first load the viewcontroller, the first cell is about one row lower but can still scroll up to reach the full height of the viewcontroller, so the top of viewcontroller when you scroll back to top?

As I understand you don't want the search bar to stick at the top of your view, so it must be in one of the tableView Cells, if this is true if you want to have an empty space under the search bar you can have another custom cell which you can customize its height in tableView(_:heightForRowAt) function.
I have a UITableView and below the custom cell (in IB) I have inserted a UIView. The UIView gets set to hidden when viewDidLoad() gets called and is only displayed when there is no data in the UITableView. This works great and servers my purpose.
The problem is that even when the UIView is hidden, the scrolling on the UITableView considers the view to be present. i.e. The vertical scroll with scroll well below the last cell, covering the area where the UIView exists - even though its blank and nothing is displayed.
I have tried to hide the UIView but this doesn't help either. How do I get the scroll to not extend to the area covered by the UIView?

The image on the left is how IB looks. I have added a UIView as a subview of the TableView. The image on the right is the large scroll space below the last cell.
Expected behavior: When the view is hidden, the scroll view only scrolls until the last cell.
If your view is displayed only when there is no cells, you could just add it over your UITableView (or behind it if your UITableView's background is clear) and hide it when you have cells to display. Just be sure to add your view as a sibling of your UITableView and not as a child view of your UITableView.
I have a UITableView in which I have several custom cells and my last cell contains a UISearchbar in it. I have wired up the appropriate delegates and referencing outlets and can get the keyboard to show up.
The problem I am facing is that the searchbar is at the very bottom of my tableview i.e. it is part of the very last cell. So even though the keyboard gets shown, the searchbar is hidden below it as I suspect it is unable to scroll to that location since its the last cell in the view.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this and how to overcome this situation.
The easiest solution is to have your view controller be a subclass of UITableViewController. This type of view controller will handle issues exactly like these.
If you cannot, you should listen to keyboard will show/hide notifications and set contentInset and scrollviewIndicatorInsets bottom of the table view to the keyboard height. Then you can scroll the specific cell into visible. When the keyboard hides, set the bottom to the previous value.
Yes....Two ways
1) either you can change the frame of whole tableView and pull the whole table up by decreasing the y position of tableView
[tableView setFrame:CGRectMake(100,100,100,100)];
or
2) You can change the contentOffset of the table to programatically scroll the tableView's last cell so that it is visible to the user.
[tableView setContentOffset:CGPointMake(0,400) animated:YES]

I have an UITableView that does not fill the whole screen, so there is some space at the top and the bottom of the screen. This table uses table.clipToBounds = NO and table.bounces = YES.
But when scrolling the cells outside the original frame of the table, the cells are hidden. I know that's the normal behavior of UITableView to increase performance. But is it possible to define an area at the top/bottom of UITableView within which the cells are not hidden? Or even set a cell property to be "always" visible?
Subviews outside bounds of superview are hidden (table view's cells are also its subviews). That's just how iOS view hierarchy works, not really about performance. And it doesn't make any sense when a subview/cell is displayed on the screen while user cannot interact with it (because it's out of bounds). In particular, table view reuses cells that go out of its bounds, so no, you cannot set a cell to be "always visible".
Has anyone seen a script like this or would be willing to help out with one?
Collapse/Expand Button
The uitableview cell to be expanded partially open (giving a preview in essence)
After the button is pressed then the cell of table would expand to show the entire contents (with a nice fade effect). If you chose to collapse the cell then it would return to the original offset (preview) height.
Has anyone seen anything like this? I've found a plethora of these scripts that fully expand or collapse, but not like this

you have to make custom cell class. While creating cell give the height of the cell as maximum you want (i.e when it expands) and when creating the custom cell drag a UIView and put all the contents in this view and hides this view. Then when button is being Tapped just you have to make it unhidden.
