We are using Google analytics and looking for a way to find how many users installed an app for a marketing campaign.
It's quite simple with android, you just append campaign parameters to the links that users would click.
It seems complex or impossible to do this in iOS unless I join ad-network or show advertisement in my app?
It is possible without incorporating ads in your app. I have used the guidelines listed here to successfully track user interactions and events in iOS apps.
If you just need details on app installations, iTunesConnect's App Analytics might be sufficient.

I've installed google Hangouts, and then installed google Meet (two separate apps).
I logged in on Hangouts, and when I opened Meet, it asked whether I want to sign in with the same account. Same happens on Youtube, Gmail and other google apps.
I don't see this entered google account on "Accounts" tab in iOS Settings, so I suppose they use some reliable device tracking mechanism across all their apps. So the questions I have are:
Which mechanism/APIs are they using?
Does the same account show up to google when I visit google services from Safari and other WebKit browsers?
Although convenient for the end user, wouldn't it be a breach of user's privacy and iOS privacy policies?
Thanks
Apps from the same developer can share files, user defaults, and keychain items. You have to add the right entitlements to the apps and you have to be quite careful as a developer with keychain items, but it’s not difficult.
I don’t think end users can’t see this in any way. Apple could reject the apps if they think the use of this feature is inappropriate but in your case I’d expect no problem.
The feature is also often needed when you add any extensions to your app.
Hoping this community can help. We have a mobile app on iOS only. So, we haven't implemented any IDFA libraries to track conversions via Google Ads and relied solely on the Vendor Identifier. However, we're seeing a significant drop in performance/conversion tracking within Google Ads compared to 2019 where we'd see thousands of installs.
Per Google Ads support recommendation, we updated the Firebase SDK with the SKAdNetwork automatically calling registerAppForAdNetworkAttribution, but still seeing no conversions registered in Google Ads. All integrations within Firebase are correct.
Without having to add in the IDFA libraries, is there any other recommendation you have? Adding a specific plist dictionary for Google Ads or additional API calls? I found one for AdMods but we don't do any in-app advertising so assuming that's not applicable to us.
Any assistance would help!
Thanks in advance.
I need to get monthly uninstall count for iOS using Firebase. I know that for Android, there's app_remove event that I can use even if it's not really accurate, but it's enough for now.
From iTunesConnect or Playstore, they only give user retention data like how many user still use your app after x days, or daily uninstalls, which is not what i'm looking for.
Right now, you can't track app uninstalls on iOS using Firebase Analytics. It's not a trivial change (I think most SDKs do this by keeping track of messages they get back from the APNs feedback service), but I'll put in a feature request on your behalf.
Apple has added the deletion metrics recently by which we can see the number of uninstalls. We can add filters to find uninstalls for geographic range, app versions, by device and so on.
For reference: in iTunes connect app analytics in metrics under usage we can see the deletions.

I am developing a free app about marine life conservation. I am working with a foundation to help them raise money. I have an paid app in the iOS store now. While i am certain of the answer, i would like to ask and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.
Is it possible to create an app that is only available via an in app purchase? I would like of offer my app with the foundations' logos throughout the app, instead of my own, but i do not want this special app to be readily available on it's own.
Possible via any creative measures?
An interesting problem, a possible solution could be:
You will have your existing application with the in-app purchases that will give the user either a promo code or a deep link to your other application.
The other application will be essentially empty if someone random opens it, then will 'unlock' when a user has a code/link opens it.
If you did want to try the deep-linking, i've used Branch before that is quite easy to use. Link: https://branch.io
I'm building a small app where users can browse cheap accessories like lipstick, nail polish, etc. I have Login With Amazon (http://login.amazon.com/) implemented because I originally thought that I could allow users to buy the accessories directly from my app.
But I soon realized that Apple has actually restricted that functionality. The purchase ability is available on Android and for web developers, but unfortunately not yet for iOS.
Is there some hacky way that I can allow users to make a purchase from my app (or from a web view in my app)? I have a little bit of experience with Python so I'm guessing there might be a way to write a script that presses different buttons on the Amazon web page in a web view in my app. The user is already logged in with Amazon.
You can use Shopelia SDK which enables in-app purchase of physical goods using one click payment. It is available for Amazon but also for any kind of retailers.
It works using a combinaison of automation and monetics to inject the order and process the payment.
Right now (October 2013), the product is in beta stage and can be demonstrated on Shopelia website http://www.shopelia.com
Integration is available through SDK for Android and iOS.
