Last year I have developed an iPhone app that works well in iPhone 5 and 4 (iOS 7), it was compiled in sdk 7.
Now I am updating the app to compile it under sdk 8, in order the app works well in iOS 8. My question is: should I customize my app for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus?. I am afraid if I don't do it Apple could reject my app.
There are some great comments on this question.
How does an app with lower base sdk work?
"Apple never changes / deletes / renames classes or methods. They only
add new ones. If they don't want you to use it anymore, they mark it
as deprecated.
This is a very important point. At compile-time, the compiler checks
if all classes and method signatures are available in the SDK your
building your app with.
If that's the case, you can build and deploy your app. Because those
classes and methods will never be deleted from newer versions of the
framework, your app will run just fine."

As the title said. I had done some search but most of them seem for users not for developer.
Any way for checking compatibility or finding breaking changes between iOS versions?
My app is targeting to iOS 10 and now I want to change to 13 for new app upload due to
"Starting April 2020, all new apps and app updates will need to be built with the iOS 13 SDK and support the all-screen design of iPhone XS Max or later."
https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=09102019a
How to check whether my swift code is working fine in different iOS
version?
You have many ways:
Manual QA.
Run your UI and Unit Tests.
Read your libraries' documentation if there's breaking features.
To explain further, Apple's note, which you seem got a little bit confused of:
Starting April 2020, all new apps and app updates will need to be
built with the iOS 13 SDK and support the all-screen design of iPhone
XS Max or later.
It only means that you should build your app with iOS 13 SDK - which does not necessarily mean you need to make your app/project target a minimum iOS 13.0 version.

Do we require latest iphone model 6 or 6 plus to test apps or any model of iphone will do just fine ?
Hi I am new to the Apple ecosystem and trying to learn to make apps. Although i have coded simple games like classic snake and ran it on my iphone 4 as it gives us real time info on how well the apps is doing on a device.
Since Iphone 6 and 6 plus have launched and has lots of improved features, i wanted to know from a developer perspective that any device like iphone 4, iphone 4s or 5s will do for creating simple apps and deploy in the app store? OR do i have to have a latest iphone 6 or 6 plus.
question 2 : What role does a device plays (iphones and not simulators) when it comes developing and testing Iphone Apps??
A goggle search and indepth search of different forum did not yield any useful information.
Developers, users at stackflow, it will great if you can clear my doubt.
additional information
currently an individual developer and have a macbook air. Will be making apps like "recipe" and probably a health app and app like "we heart it"
If your app do not use hardware related function, there is no need to buy latest iphone.
For example, if your app need to use BLE or touch ID,you have to use iphone/ipad support this.

Swift can be used for writing applications that run on iOS 7 and prior or Mac OS X 10.9 and prior. Why do we have to wait with submitting applications to App Store until fall when iOS 8 and Mac OS X 10.10 is released?
Learning Swift today and using it in 4-5 months is inefficient. Also writing new code in Objective-C instead of Swift is counterproductive when Swift will be probably the future of Apple platforms.
Probably due to the fact that you need Xcode 6, which is still in beta and won't be ready before iOS 8 / Yosemite ships.

My Friend is trying to sell off some of his old tech and I'm thinking of buying his iPod touch 2G for development purposes, is it still supported in any way (i.e. will I find any dev kits that will build to it)?
Using a 2nd gen iPod touch is only useful if you wish to download old versions of Xcode and you only want to learn 2-year old iOS app development.
If you want to learn modern iOS development then you need an iOS device that runs iOS 6.0 or later. This requires at least a 4th gen iPod touch, iPad 2, or iPhone 3GS.
