Can't set Custom UITableViewCell property - iOS - ios

First of all I want to apologize for my bad english.
I'm having trouble to set the properties of my custom UITableViewCell (HistoricoCell).
When I try to set a property of my cell I get: Signal SIGABRT error:
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
// Dequeue the cell.
HistoricoCell *cell = (HistoricoCell *)[self.tblHistorico dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:#"CellIdentifier" forIndexPath:indexPath];
// Fetch Item
NSDictionary *item = [self.dbManager.arrColumnNames objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
// Configure Table View Cell
[cell.lblCodigo setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%#", item[#"codigo"]]];
[cell.btnFavoritar addTarget:self action:#selector(didTapButton:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
return cell;
}
I followed a lot of tutorials and questions on the web but I stil with my error.
Can someone help me?
My code:

You should set cell indentifier "CellIdentifier" for your cell in File Inspector
Or register your nib file if you add cell with nib:
UINib *itemNib = [UINib nibWithNibName:#"yourCell" bundle:nil];
[self.tableView registerNib:itemNib forCellReuseIdentifier:#"yourCellReuseIndentifier"];

I think your problem is in your cell creation: you try to dequeue a cell if it exists (i.e. recycle a previously used cell). that is OK, but, especially when the TableView is displayed for the first time, no previously used cell for this table exists. So, you have to create one if the dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier call return nil.
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
// Dequeue the cell.
HistoricoCell *cell = (HistoricoCell *)[self.tblHistorico dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:#"HistoricoCellIdentifier" forIndexPath:indexPath];
if( cell == nil ) // no queuded cell to dequeue
{
// you have to create a fresh new one
cell = [HistoricoCell alloc] initWithStyle:<your cell style> reuseIdentifier:#"HistoricoCellIdentifier"];
}
// Fetch Item
NSDictionary *item = [self.dbManager.arrColumnNames objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
// Configure Table View Cell
[cell.lblCodigo setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%#", item[#"codigo"]]];
[cell.btnFavoritar addTarget:self action:#selector(didTapButton:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
return cell;
}

UiCollcetionViewCell specific segue to connect TableView show specific content within TableView

Hi there the question i would like to ask is there a way of creating such code in Objective C that will allow me to select a single UICollectionViewCell within a UICollectionViewController and link it to a table view that shows UICollectionViewCell specific content based upon what UICollectionViewCell has been selected without creating hundreds of UITableViewControllers?
A know this is not code but this is what i want the code to achieve if it is possible:
on click of collection view cell dresses show table view.
then on the table view...
if collection view clicked was dresses display dresses table view.
surely this is possible?
Also if possible i would like the code to somehow group things togethers as this will be done on a large scale i have 106 collection view cells that need linking to table views of which need to contain a minimum of 30 TableViewCells each.
I tried your question for getting solution.Finally I successfully got the solution.Below code works perfectly.

Populate UITableView from NSMutableArray

Having an issue where the array values do not display in my tableview cells, but can be printed out correctly with NSLog. Thanks in advance for your help!
TableViewCell .h
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#interface TableViewCell : UITableViewCell
#property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *image;
#property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UILabel *label;
#end
TableViewController.h
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#interface TableViewController : UITableViewController <UITableViewDataSource, UITableViewDelegate>
#property(nonatomic, strong) NSMutableArray *imagesArray;
#property(nonatomic, strong) NSMutableArray *namesArray;
#end
TableViewController.m
#import "TableViewController.h"
#import "TableViewCell.h"
#interface TableViewController ()
#end
#implementation TableViewController
#synthesize primaryWeaponNames = _primaryWeaponNames;
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[super viewDidLoad];
[self setupArrays];
}
- (void)setupArrays {
_namesArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:
#"NAME1", #"NAME2", #"NAME3"
nil];
self.imagesArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:
#"IMG1", #"IMG2", #"IMG3"
nil];
}
- (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning {
[super didReceiveMemoryWarning];
// Dispose of any resources that can be recreated.
}
#pragma mark - Table view data source
- (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView {
// Return the number of sections.
return 1;
}
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section {
// Return the number of rows in the section.
return _namesArray.count;
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"TableViewCell";
TableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[TableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator;
}
cell.nameLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%#", [_namesArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]];
NSLog(#"%#", _namesArray[indexPath.row]);
cell.image.image = [self.imagesArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
[cell setAccessoryType: UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator];
return cell;
}
When you make the cell in a xib file, you should register the nib in viewDidLoad. Since you didn't do that, the dequeue method will return nil, and you're just creating a default cell (in the if (cell == nil) clause) instead of your custom cell. The default cell doesn't have a nameLabel or image property, so the lines to set the values of those outlets won't do anything.
[self.tableView registerNib:[UINib nibWithNibName:#"Your nib name here" bundle:nil] forCellReuseIdentifier:#"TableViewCell];
In your TableViewController class, you need to include
self.tableView.delegate = self;
self.tableView.datasource = self;
in your viewDidLoad method. Or you can do this in interface builder by right click dragging the table view in your tableview controller to file's owner and setting delegate, then repeat for datasource

Using a delegate to transfer data

I have a view controller with a static cell named 'Make' I have two controllers one called "AddCarTableViewController" and "MakeTableViewController" when you click on the static cell named 'Make' it presents the make table view controller where you can select the make, then pops the view controller and am trying to store the selected value in the detailTextLabel of the static cell. here is my code for all the controllers.
The problem I'm having is once I select the make everything happens as it should I even log the selected item and it saves it after popping the view controller, but I can't figure out how to implement selected item into the detailTextLabel. Any help will be much appreciated!
"MakeTableViewController.h"
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#import "AddCarTableViewController.h"
#protocol CarMakeDelegate <NSObject>
- (void)updateCarMake:(NSString *)updateMake;
#end
#interface MakeTableViewController : UITableViewController
#property (nonatomic, strong) NSArray *carMakes;
#property (nonatomic, weak) id <CarMakeDelegate> delegate;
#end
MakeTableViewController.m
#import "MakeTableViewController.h"
#interface MakeTableViewController ()
#end
#implementation MakeTableViewController {
NSIndexPath *oldIndexPath;
}
- (id)initWithStyle:(UITableViewStyle)style
{
self = [super initWithStyle:style];
if (self) {
// Custom initialization
}
return self;
}
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
self.carMakes = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:#"Acura", #"Aston Martin", nil];
}
- (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning
{
[super didReceiveMemoryWarning];
// Dispose of any resources that can be recreated.
}
#pragma mark - Table view data source
- (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView
{
// Return the number of sections.
return 1;
}
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
// Return the number of rows in the section.
return [self.carMakes count];
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *cellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:cellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:cellIdentifier];
}
cell.textLabel.text = [self.carMakes objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
return cell;
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:NO];
oldIndexPath = indexPath;
NSString *addMake = self.carMakes[indexPath.row];
[self.delegate updateCarMake:addMake];
NSLog(#"%#", addMake );
[[self navigationController] popViewControllerAnimated:YES];
}
#end
AddCarTableViewController.h
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#import "MakeTableViewController.h"
#interface AddCarTableViewController : UITableViewController
#property (strong, nonatomic) NSString *makeName;
#property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITableViewCell *makeCell;
#end
AddCarTableViewController.m
#import "AddCarTableViewController.h"
#interface AddCarTableViewController ()
#end
#implementation AddCarTableViewController
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
}
#pragma mark - Table view data source
- (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView
{
// Return the number of sections.
return 1;
}
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
// Return the number of rows in the section.
return 4;
}
-(void)updateCarMake:(NSString *)updateMake {
self.makeCell.detailTextLabel.text = updateMake;
}
#end
You don't need to use delegate in this case. Just update the underlying data model. and call
[tableview reloadData];
When the makeViewController is popped.
In the AddCarVC's cellForRowAtIndex, add another line to check if current indexPath corresponds to Make cell and if it does update the detailLabel text.

How to make a Sub Table view in a TableViewCell

I have a TableView displaying a list of domain :
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
// Do any additional setup after loading the view.
self.tableView.dataSource = mainClass.domainList;
}
The domain list is set up like that :
-(NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
return [self.domainList count];
}
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
UITableViewCell *cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] init];
cell.textLabel.text = [[self.domainList objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] name];
return cell;
}
This works perfectly, it displays each domain in a row of my table view.
Now i would like to add a "Sub TableView" in each cell of my Table View to display a list of documents related to the domain.
I tried that :
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
UITableView *table = [[UITableView alloc] init];
table.dataSource = [self.domainList objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
UITableViewCell *cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] init];
cell.textLabel.text = [[self.domainList objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] name];
[cell.contentView addSubView table]
return cell;
}
It doesn't crash but it doesn't work neither. I mean the sublist doesn't appear anywhere.
What am i doing wrong?
datasource must be a class implementing the protocol UITableViewDataSource. It looks like you are setting it to a custom object. Create a separate class with the code you used to implement the first table, then set the sublist as source data. In the objc.io article “clean table view code” they explain how to make reusable datasources. Or you can just give it a try on your own.
Consider this code:
// ARRAYDATASOURCE.H
#import <Foundation/Foundation.h>
typedef void (^TableViewCellConfigureBlock)(id cell, id item);
#interface ArrayDataSource : NSObject <UITableViewDataSource>
-(id) init __attribute__((unavailable("disabled, try initWithItems:cellIdentifier:configureCellBlock")));
- (id) initWithItems:(NSArray *)anItems
cellIdentifier:(NSString *)aCellIdentifier
configureCellBlock:(TableViewCellConfigureBlock)aConfigureCellBlock;
- (id)itemAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath;
#end
// ARRAYDATASOURCE.M
#import "ArrayDataSource.h"
#interface ArrayDataSource ()
#property (nonatomic, strong) NSArray *items;
#property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *cellIdentifier;
#property (nonatomic, copy) TableViewCellConfigureBlock configureCellBlock;
#end
#implementation ArrayDataSource
- (id)initWithItems:(NSArray *)anItems
cellIdentifier:(NSString *)aCellIdentifier
configureCellBlock:(TableViewCellConfigureBlock)aConfigureCellBlock
{
self = [super init];
if (self) {
self.items = anItems;
self.cellIdentifier = aCellIdentifier;
self.configureCellBlock = [aConfigureCellBlock copy];
}
return self;
}
- (id)itemAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
return self.items[(NSUInteger) indexPath.row];
}
#pragma mark UITableViewDataSource
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
return self.items.count;
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:self.cellIdentifier
forIndexPath:indexPath];
id item = [self itemAtIndexPath:indexPath];
self.configureCellBlock(cell, item);
return cell;
}
#end

Method "tableView:didSelectedRowAtIndexPath" in a UITableView embedded into a UIViewController

I've a UITableView embedded into a UIViewController, I've followed all the steps needed to display a list into the table view and this is working
I've a problem with the following method, it looks like it is invoked but it return null instead of the item of the list
-(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSLog(#"%#",[self.list objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]);
}
thank you to everyone for its thoughts
Alessandro
Here below the code, the list is correctly displayed so the outlet and protocol method are set up (delegate, datasource).
The method tableview:didSelectRowAtIndexPath: it prints out (null) instead of the right element in the list
