I'm currently investigating the possibility to connect rails applicatrion with exchange for getting user information. I think to create rails page with user profile, and get profile information from exchange.
I found this: Outlook Social Connector
As I understand, this is an API for getting information about user (contact list, updates, new e.g.) from exchange, isn't it?
So, please, help me to understand this thing...
Is it possible to get facebook-updates of my outlook-contacts using some of EWS/Social Connector APIs ?
No, the Outlook Social Connector is a way that Outlook can connect to social networks. It sounds like you want to access data in the Exchange server. Have you looked at the REST APIs? There's a Rails sample here: https://github.com/jasonjoh/o365-vcftool. The code from that sample is also wrapped in the ruby_outlook gem.

I would like to show a company's feed/updates/post on a website. I am the owner/admin of the LinkedIn page. Most of the related questions are old and uses V1. This similar questions also seems unanswered (LinkedIn Company Feed in API v2?). LinkedIn support are of no help and they instruct me to ask questions on Stackoverflow.
I created an App on LinkedIn and they assigned default permissions (r_emailaddress, r_liteprofile, w_member_social). But these permissions are of no use to me since I just want to show the company feeds on the website. Neither I want any user to login to LinkedIn nor I want to read the users/visitors email addresses or profile. Already went through a lot of their documentation but there is no clear mentioning of how to do this.
I read that company updates can be retrieved using the /ugcPosts API. GET https://api.linkedin.com/v2/ugcPosts?q=authors&authors=List(url-encoded organization Urn). But in order to do that I need r_organization_social permission. How to get this permission?
Also in this scenario, since I just want to retrieve company posts, I can use 2 legged oauth: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/linkedin/shared/authentication/client-credentials-flow?context=linkedin/context instead of 3 legged oauth. But when I try to generate access token I get error "access_denied: This application is not allowed to create application tokens"
https://www.linkedin.com/oauth/v2/accessToken?grant_type=client_credentials&client_id=xxxxx&client_secret=xxxxx&redirect_uri=http://xxxxx.local/&state=fasdfasdfs
Does anyone know how to achieve this?
Thanks!
You need to apply for the LinkedIn Marketing Partner Program. You can do so by adding this product to the app you have created.
Once you have access, you can read the company feed using the following API endpoint:
https://api.linkedin.com/v2/shares?q=owners&owners=urn:li:organization:12345&sharesPerOwner=100&count=25
Hope this helps.
I retrieved an access token from my server and have connected the JavaScript SDk chat client like so. I have created a channel like so. The next step I'd like to invite a user like this. In that example they invite the user 'elmo'. Where do I get 'elmo' or how do I present the user with a selection of possible 'elmo's? The client sdk has no list users functionality.
Edit:
It looks like the REST API has a list users method. But can't find any examples of it used. Should the 1st person chat client be using the REST API as well to supplement gaps in the client SDK or should it get the identity from backend? Our team has different interpretations of the docs: twilio REST API is strictly for backend vs. twilio REST API can and should be used any where. Moved to twilio REST API: strictly backend?
Twilio developer evangelist here.
In my opinion Twilio's Chat API should not be the central source of truth of the users in your system. I don't know anything more about your application than what you've written here, but I would expect that you have a user model within your own system that you have used to generate or create an identity that is then used by the Chat API as well as how your user logs in to your system. I would then use that user model to connect users and provide their identities so that they can join chats together.
I know I'm probably going to get a "no, you can't do that" but it doesn't seem reasonable to me.
My client uses Quickbooks Online and wants to be able to have his customers sign in to his web site and see how much they owe, and then pay their invoices with a credit card.
Obviously, the customers themselves can't be signing into Quickbooks Online. We want the web server to be able to directly access the data via the api.
I've found the api but I'm not sure if it's possible to have the webserver connecting to it and getting the data it needs.
I know this can be done with other systems. I've done it with GMail and Salesforce using OAuth2.
The biggest piece I want to load from quickbooks as well might be something unavailable as I couldn't find it in the API anywhere. When my client opens Quickbooks Online, he can send an email to any customer that will include a link to pay online by credit card. We'd like to be able to find that link and redirect the user to it. But I'm not sure if it's available via the api.
I could go with webhooks but that would require storing all that data on our webserver, and syncing it for existing data. Not to mention what happens if an update happens to fail.
You're misunderstanding how OAuth works a bit, which is what is causing the confusion here.
The person who owns the QuickBooks company logs in, not the end-user. They log in ONCE, and that gets you OAuth tokens that you can use to make server-to-server calls forever going forward.
Soooo...
I know I'm probably going to get a "no, you can't do that" but it doesn't seem reasonable to me.
You can do what you're trying to do, you're just going about it the wrong way.
Obviously, the customers themselves can't be signing into Quickbooks Online.
Correct.
We want the web server to be able to directly access the data via the api.
That's fine, and totally do-able.
I've found the api but I'm not sure if it's possible to have the webserver connecting to it and getting the data it needs.
It is do-able.
The key understanding here is that you're going to have an OAuth connection process that the person who owns QuickBooks is going to go through just once, to get you OAuth tokens.
You're then going to store those OAuth tokens server-side (e.g. in your database).
You can then use those stored OAuth tokens to make future server-to-server API calls whenever you want.
When my client opens Quickbooks Online, he can send an email to any customer that will include a link to pay online by credit card. We'd like to be able to find that link and redirect the user to it. But I'm not sure if it's available via the api.
I don't think this information is available via the API right now.
There is an API endpoint to send an email invoice, if that's helpful:

I am attempting to connect a Google Assistant app using DialogFlow(Api.AI) with Firebase Auth. My App uses Firebase Auth to maintain user accounts and the realtime database to store data. I would like to be able to make changes to a user's data through the Google Assistant, maybe using something like a cloud function. In order to make any user changes through Google Assistant, I need to link the user's Google Assistant account with their Firebase Auth account. The current mechanism appears to be using an OAuth flow documented here.
The question I have is, what is the best way to accomplish this? Do I need to set up a custom OAuth server? There is a lot of documentation on Google's cloud website about OAuth, but it all appears to be related to using OAuth to access Google's APIs, and I can't really see a simple way to host this linking mechanism in GCP.
There is this question that is pretty close, but the difference I have is that I don't have an external API, I just want to authenticate my user and be able to modify their data in the realtime database.
Thank you for your help!
here is an example: https://github.com/malikasinger1/Quiz-Assistant
i have done it myself with following best practices,
feel free to comment if you don't understand something.
All I need is like so,
I want to use Ruby and Google API to retrieve MY adsense report (like page views, CTR ...) and save it into my database. (I want it to be automatic)
When an user requests to my page, I will show my saved report to him.
I think it was simple but it's not actually because OAuth 2.0 needs users to authenticate with google. I dont know how I can do it because I dont have any browsers on my server. Is it possible to do so? Can anyone show me how to do it?
The AdSense Management API can be used with the "Installed application" OAuth2 scenario. You just need to generate the refresh token once (you don't need browsers on your server and no human interaction is needed after this).
Here's the generic guide:
https://developers.google.com/adsense/management/getting_started#auth
And the Ruby client library, with the adsense sample:
https://github.com/google/google-api-ruby-client-samples/tree/master/adsense
The client library handles auth for you.
