I'm running sqlpackage.exe as park of an automated deployment script creation process, however we have synonyms in the database, which are different depending on the environment (Dev/Test/Live). The problem is that the database project has the synonyms as they are in the Dev environment, but when I run sqlpackage to compare against Test or Live, the synonyms are different and so they get scripted to be dropped and re-added to point to Dev.
I've seen on http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ssdt/archive/2015/02/23/new-advanced-publish-options-to-specify-object-types-to-exclude-or-not-drop.aspx that apparently there's a new parameter "ExcludeObjectType", but when I try running it using that parameter it gives me an error 'ExcludeObjectType' is not a valid argument for the 'Script' action (and I have the latest version of sqlpackage.exe).
Any ideas on what I can do here?
After downloading the latest SSDT for Visual Studio I still had the same issue. Next I downloaded Data-Tier Application Framework (May 2015) and used the new SqlPackage installed at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\120\DAC\bin\sqlpackage.exe and the error went away and worked as expected.
Thank you sir! When I created the deployment script in VS, no change detected but when I tried to deploy using sqlpackage I got the error:
* The object [x] already exists in database with a different definition and will not be altered.
After adding the ExcludeObjectTypes switch I got the following error:
* 'ExcludeObjectTypes' is not a valid argument for the 'Publish' action.
But after downloading and installing latest Data-Tier App framework all works as expected with no errors.

Using Visual Studio 2019 to publish an update to an existing windows store application. This worked a week ago.
Our solution builds without error. When I go to create the setup package I get an error "Failed to sign 'D:\dev\MeyerMusic\MeyerTablet\TabletDistribution\bin\AnyCPU\Release\MeyerMusicTabletSetup_2.6.6.0_AnyCPU.msix'."
We are distributing the application as a Microsoft Store app under the existing app name.
Last week on this same development computer I built version 2.6.5 as well as many packages before that.
The error number is blank or missing. I do not have a reason for the failure. I only see one fact in the error message and that points to line 4574 in the file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2019\Enterprise\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v16.0\AppxPackage\Microsoft.AppXPackage.Targets
That line is this:
<SignAppxPackage Condition="'$(AppxPackageSigningEnabled)' == 'true'"
AppxPackageToSign="$(AppxMainPackageOutput)"
CertificateThumbprint="$(PackageCertificateThumbprint)"
CertificateFile="$(PackageCertificateKeyFile)"
CertificatePassword="$(PackageCertificatePassword)"
HashAlgorithmId="$(AppxHashAlgorithmId)"
EnableSigningChecks="$(EnableSigningChecks)"
SignAppxPackageExeFullPath="$(SignAppxPackageExeFullPath)"
TempCertificateFilePath="$(TempCertificateFilePath)"
VsTelemetrySession="$(VsTelemetrySession)"
SigningTimestampServerUrl="$(AppxPackageSigningTimestampServerUrl)"
SigningTimestampDigestAlgorithm="$(AppxPackageSigningTimestampDigestAlgorithm)"
/>
Troubleshooting steps:
Attempted to build a side load package. Results in same error
Successfully built a side load package that was not signed
I have restarted Visual Studio
I have rebooted the machine
I have deleted OBJ, BIN for the entire solution
I have looked for errors in the event log but none have been found so far.
After uninstalling KB4535996 the problem was resolved.
I found this via a tip from the following post: https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/problem/934967/uwp-error-failed-to-sign.html
I am trying to run a .tcl file originally configured for 2014.4 on 2016.4 version of Vivado. However I am getting the following error:
while executing
"create_bd_cell -type ip -vlnv xilinx.com:ip:mig mig_0 "
(procedure "create_root_design" line 111)
invoked from within
"create_root_design """
(file "all.tcl" line 405)
The tcl file uses the part 'xcku040-ffva1156-2' and tries to access the IP 'mig' which I believe is renamed/changed on later versions. Is there any workaround for this?
Steps I have done till now:
Changed the version number to 2016.4
tried replacing target boards.
tried on the same board with an alternate IP for mig.
tried on both 2016.4 and 2015.4 versions
None of these have worked so far
Attaching the '.tcl' file for reference : all.tcl
Since with every version upgrade of the Vivado Design Suite, parts are renamed or removed, it is not possible to run a .tcl file meant for an earlier version in newer releases. So I ran the above query on Xilinx Community Forums and found a workaround:
Run this script on the previous version(2014 in this case), generate the design and then open the same design using the next major release(2015 version). The 2015 version will automatically suggest upgrades to the discontinued/renamed IPs. Repeat the same to get to 2016 version. That's the only way to get this done. Also have to keep checking if the core functionality of the IP is the same after automated upgrades by Vivado Design Suite.
I've created a tiny project [0] to reproduce an error in a controlled environment. The facts, I'm using jenkins to build my project, a big one, I'd like to make some parallel builds. Let me make it graphically
[MyBasicPackage] -----> [MyPackageTester] ------> [MyBasicApp]
.
.
+-----> [...]
+-----> [...]
this is the organization I've made on [0], I have a class TMyUnit (MyBasicPackage) registered on spring container to be tested. I build it and generate its .dcu, .bpl, and so on.
The second stage I build my MyPackageTester that requires MyBasicPackage. Finally I build the app that requires MyPackageTester. So far so good.
When I try to build my MyBasicPackage on, say PC-00, get the artifacts and try to build the the MyPackageTester on PC-06 (same arch, same OS, same IDE, same spring4d version), and a nice error arise:
Unit TMyUnit was compiled with a different version of Spring.Container.Registration
so, I update my spring4d on both machines (PC-00 and PC-06) and build them. Run... and same error arise.
check the library path options (C:\Program Files (x86)\Embarcadero\Studio\14.0\Componentes\spring4d\Library\DelphiXE6\Win32\Debug), delete dcu files and build them once again on both machines, same error.
copy dcu files from PC-00 to PC-06 to avoid any kind of system configuration and the same error arise.
Probably I'm trying to do something that's not possible so far. I've googled a couple of days without luck.
Any ideas?
Please feel free to fork or pull request the example ;)

In your case you need to build with the Spring.Core runtime package. Not only will that prevent this error but your code will actually work.
If you do not then all modules will hold their own version of the GlobalContainer instance you are using and nothing will work.
Maybe one solution is put all your libraries in a centralized repository and pull them to compile your projects. It should resolve the different version error.
I recently installed SpringSource Tool Suite. And I want to start working with Grails projects. So, I went to the Dashboard -> Extension, where I saw two extensions: Grails (current production release) and Grails Support as in the image below.
But when I try to install them, I get the following errors :
Problems occurred while performing installation: Operation details
Operation details
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software currently installed: Shared profile 1.0.0.1340820181092 (SharedProfile_com.springsource.sts.ide 1.0.0.1340820181092)
Missing requirement: Shared profile 1.0.0.1340820181092 (SharedProfile_com.springsource.sts.ide 1.0.0.1340820181092) requires 'org.maven.ide.eclipse [1.0.100.20110804-1717]' but it could not be found
What can I do to resolve this error ? Or are there any other options I can follow to install Grails extension?
Thank you!
I would switch to the new "Groovy/Grails Tool Suite" that was recently announced (see http://www.springsource.org/node/3582). Go to the standard download page at http://www.springsource.org/downloads/sts and click "Other Downloads >". Download the version for your OS under "Milestone Version - Groovy/Grails Tool Suite 3.0.0.M2".
It is a beta/milestone release but I've been using it since it was released and it's as stable as a final release so far. It's convenient since the Groovy-Eclipse plugin and the Grails support are already configured for you, in addition to the latest Grails (2.0.4). Any other plugins that you need from the standard STS can always be installed using the standard install/update procedure.
Yes, what #BurtBeckwith said. You should move to the new GGTS.
However, to address your particular problem, you installed STS into a read-only directory (or in C:\Program files). You need to re-install it somewhere else.
The Eclipse p2 installer cannot handle installing feature patches into a read-only directory. Groovy-Eclipse ships with a feature patch to extend the JDT compiler. I believe that this problem was fixed in the Juno release of Eclipse (4.2), which came out last week.
Deleting corresponding application from Windows memory removed the problem (Grails extension in SpringSource Tool Suite errors). Double running applications (earlier and new) could also be reason why GGS or STS sometimes cannot save .groovy files (with error message or without).
Anyone knows how to fix this ?
It works fine on my env (Me being the developer) and doesn't work on my colleagues machine who unzips the whole
Welcome to Grails null - http://grails.org/
Licensed under Apache Standard License 2.0
Grails home is set to: C:\abc\products\grails-1.1
Base Directory: C:\abc\products\foo\bar
Running script C:\abc\products\grails-1.1\scripts\RunApp.groovy
Environment set to development
Application expects grails version [1.1], but GRAILS_HOME is version [null] - us
e the correct Grails version or run 'grails upgrade' if this Grails version is n
ewer than the version your application expects.
Some clarifications
1) There has been no Grails version change , either on my machine or my colleagues machine. In fact some of them are installing for the first time
2) Under C:\Documents and Settings\myfriend.grails I can see a folder called 'null'
I tried removing this folder - but it gets created he runs my application
3) The way I am giving him the release is- I unzip the whole folder and he unzips it
SO there are three steps
A_ grails create-app to create the APp
B_ Unzip my folder to replace the generated folder
C_ Grails run-app
Things are fine after the step A- but degenerate after Step C
It appears that his Grails installation is corrupted or not set up correctly. I would have him reinstall a fresh copy of Grails - http://www.grails.org/Installation and try again.
The error that you are getting is telling us that the application that you are trying to run is identified as version 1.1 and I assume that this is correct. The fact that Grails is not able to identify what version is installed makes me point to a corrupted or mis-configured Grails installation
If he types 'grails' at the command line what does he see?
I found the problem.
This was because I had added a file- build.properties
And since the file was there- it was expecting it to have certain properties defined in it
Once I renamed it to something else- it started to work
