Heroku push fog error - ruby-on-rails

When i push my app to heroku server below error was occur and did not start thin server, it works early master push, But unfortunately it has stopped pushing. Blow i added the error log,
But in localhost it is working and start thin server , Is that heroku error?.
Here is my Procfile info
web: bundle exec thin start -p $PORT
The heroku error log
Could not detect rake tasks
ensure you can run `$ bundle exec rake -P` against your app with no environment variables present
and using the production group of your Gemfile.
This may be intentional, if you expected rake tasks to be run
cancel the build (CTRL+C) and fix the error then commit the fix:
rake aborted!
NameError: uninitialized constant Fog::Service
/tmp/build_4daef779061b871c10200675ed5cb467/vendor/bundle/ruby/2.0.0/gems/fog- aws-0.1.2/lib/fog/aws/storage.rb:3:in `<module:Storage>'

We made a small change to simplify requires which accidentally introduced this issue. I think if you remove the require: "fog/aws/storage" part of the gemfile, such that it just uses fog normally, that it should work for you. See also: https://github.com/fog/fog-aws/issues/83

Delayed Job in Rails 4 with Capistrano

I cant figure how to start Delayed Jobs on a dedicated Ubuntu server.
It works fine on my localhost but when I run on my server
sudo RAILS_ENV=production bin/delayed_job restart
I get
sudo: bin/delayed_job: command not found
On top of that, if I run the "rake jobs:work RAILS_ENV=production" command Im getting the following error:
PG::FeatureNotSupported: ERROR: SELECT FOR UPDATE/SHARE is not allowed in subqueries
Apparently theres an issue with my psql version.
Is there any way I can get the script to work? Any effective Capistrano recipes available? All ive found on the web are old recipes for Rails 3 and older versions of capistrano.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT:
I have already bundled install the daemons gem and generated "delayed_job:active_record" on my local machine, then proceded to cap deploy which bundle installed and migrated in the production server.
The bin/delayed_job file exists in the server yet it fails with command not found.
And add this to config/environment.rb:
ENV['RAILS_ENV'] ||= 'production'
Then at your production server:
RAILS_ENV=production rake db:migrate
RAILS_ENV=test production generate delayed_job:active_record && RAILS_ENV=production rake db:migrate
Now after you do that:
RAILS_ENV=production script/delayed_job start
As for Capistrano error you are facing, please try to add the command like:
run "cd #{current_path}; #{sudo} RACK_ENV=production bundle exec #{current_path}/bin/delayed_job start"
You must run this on target server:
bundle exec rails generate delayed_job

Precompiling assets with capistrano gives error during deployment

I am trying to deploy my rails app to a digital ocean server using the capistrano gem, and I'm getting the error :
The deploy has failed with an error: #<SSHKit::Command::Failed: RAILS_ENV= bundle exec rake assets:precompile exit status: 256
RAILS_ENV= bundle exec rake assets:precompile stdout: Nothing written
RAILS_ENV= bundle exec rake assets:precompile stderr: rake aborted!
ActiveRecord::AdapterNotSpecified: database configuration does not specify adapter
Even though the local config/database.yml and shared/config/database.yml file on the server are both configured, and have production databases set.
In case I run the rake db:create command on the server, it does create the database successfully. So, can't really find the issue.
Using rails 4.0.2, ruby 2.1.0, capsitrano 3.1.0
Sorry - I don't have the rep to comment.
It's a bit short on detail about your deploy configuration, you probably need to share.
RAILS_ENV= bundle exec rake assets:precompile stdout: Nothing written
Would suggest to me that there is no RAILS_ENV set. I don't think there is an issue with the database .yml
Infact - this post might be relevant: Capistrano 3, Rails 4, database configuration does not specify adapter

Rails server hangs when started with foreman

Here's what my Procfile looks like:
web: bundle exec rails server thin -p $PORT -e $RACK_ENV
worker: bundle exec rake jobs:work
I intend to add a worker process because I wish to run some background jobs. I'm following these instructions
This is what I noticed:
No problems encountered if the worker is started separately.
When I keep the second line in the Procfile and don't not change anything else, the rails server serves a couple of requests and hangs after that
As mentioned here , I've added STDOUT.sync = true to config/environments/development.rb and verified the same in the rails console. Did not work.
Tailed log/development.log and compared it against the stuff that foreman outputted to the shell and noticed that both matched for a couple of requests and then foreman stopped printing out stuff to the shell - the next request would then hang
I updated foreman using foreman.pkg as mentioned here and verified the same with [6]
It was mentioned here that this might be caused due to a stray debug statement. I'm not using the debugger and I do not have the pry gem or the ruby-debug gem in my Gemfile.lock
I believe the symptoms are similar to this related unanswered question
Please help!
[6]:
which foreman
/usr/bin/foreman
ls -lah /usr/bin/foreman # checked the updated date
Tracked and resolved here:
https://github.com/ddollar/foreman/issues/244
TL;DR: Install the gem, don't use foreman.pkg
I'll add than if you're using Heroku, the foreman version included with the heroku toolbelt has the same issue.
Use the one you can get with gem install foreman instead.

Tutorial demo_app won't work on heroku

I'm trying to run the chapter two demo_app from the Ruby on Rails 3 Tutorial book on Heroku and it is not working. gws-demp-app.heroku.com gives the default Rails page, but gws-demo-app.heroku.com/users gives a web page that says "We're sorry, but something went wrong." On my desktop it works fine. I'm using the tools from RailsInstaller.org.
I had problems with heroku rake db:migrate at the end of the chapter not finding the activerecord-postgresql-adapter so I did install gem pg, bundle install, and updated the Gemfile and repositories. Everything is on github at https://github.com/gwshaw/demo_app.
What looks like the same problem appears at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7619551/heroku-rake-dbmigrate-success-but-not-showing-in-app
I tried heroku restart recommended there, but that causes: Restarting processes... C:/RailsInstaller/Ruby1.9.2/lib/ruby/1.9.1/net/http.rb:6
44:in `initialize': getaddrinfo: No such host is known. (SocketError)
I tried what is claimed to work, precompiling assets with bundle exec rake assets:precompile, but that generates an error: C:/RailsInstaller/Ruby1.9.2/bin/ruby.exe C:/RailsInstaller/Ruby1.9.2/bin/rake as
sets:precompile:all RAILS_ENV=production RAILS_GROUPS=assets
rake aborted!
TypeError: Object doesn't support this property or method
(in C:/Sites/rails_projects/demo_app/app/assets/javascripts/application.js)
I'm new to ruby and rails so I'm at a loss. Any ideas?
Solved below.
Yes , this worked for me too after installing the pg gem, I ran the following:
bundle exec rake assets:precompile
git add .
git commit -am "add a note reflecting changes made"
git push
heroku create
git push heroku master
heroku rake db:migrate
heroku db:push
after invoking these commands, I was able to successfully open the demo_app on heroku.
Thanks for your post — I'm new to Rails, but reading your post helped me with a very similar issue.
Here's what worked for me:
Install pg gem to use postgreSQL on Heroku: (related article)
sudo gem install pg
Install taps gem to allow push of your local database to Heroku: (related article)
gem install taps
then the following sequence…
bundle exec rake assets:precompile
git add .
git commit -am "add a note reflecting changes made"
git push
heroku create
git push heroku master
heroku rake db:migrate
heroku db:push
If you're still having trouble, these articles are helpful too:
Stack Overflow - Heroku command: Heroku Rake db:migrate fails
Heroku - Getting Started with Rails 3.0 on Heroku/Cedar
The problem with bundle exec rake assets:precompile was the key and is solved here RoR Precompiling Assets fail while rake assets:precompile - on basically empty application.js
Oddly, Heroku wouldn't automatically precompile the assets on a git push heroku and thus would not find them. I don't think this little demo_app even uses assets, so that may be why it didn't precompile, but it still could not find applicaiton.css and failed. Once I set config.log_level = :debug in production.rb, I could see the problem in the logs. With the precompile working due to the above fix, everything worked.

Rake error fixed by bundle exec, but deployment not working

I pushed an update to my Rails app production server, and in the update there was a new database migration. I ran rake db:migrate and got the common error seen here. I ran the rake again in bundle exec bash and it was successful. But after restarting my apache server, I'm now getting the 500 Error page. This update worked fine on my localhost, and was mostly this update to the db with supporting changes in the according view and controller/routing.
I don't even know why this error appeared this time, as I have pushed db updates successfully before using only rake. Nonetheless, the rake was successful. The 500 error page only shows on pages that require that specific new ActiveRecord. Any ideas on how to debug?
EDIT: My problem was an extremely simple one. I merely forgot to include the environment with the rake:
bundle exec rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=production
Unfortunately, it took quite a while to narrow that down, as I couldn't use IRB to check the db entries until I followed these steps.
Did you run rake db:migrate on your server? Also be sure to set the RAILS_ENV flag so your production database is updated:
rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=production
