Is possible to zoom with mouse in Highcharts? - highcharts

Is it possible to zoom in highcharts with mouse, like in Google Earth?
Is there a code to do it?

Highcharts mouse wheel zooming can be accomplished by including Highmaps as a module in Highcharts.
$(function() {
$.getJSON('https://www.highcharts.com/samples/data/jsonp.php?filename=usdeur.json&callback=?', function(data) {
$('#container').highcharts({
chart: {
panning: true
},
mapNavigation: {
enabled: true,
enableButtons: false
},
title: {
text: 'USD to EUR exchange rate over time'
},
subtitle: {
text: document.ontouchstart === undefined ?
'Click and drag in the plot area to zoom in' : 'Pinch the chart to zoom in'
},
xAxis: {
type: 'datetime'
},
yAxis: {
title: {
text: 'Exchange rate'
}
},
legend: {
enabled: false
},
plotOptions: {
area: {
fillColor: {
linearGradient: {
x1: 0,
y1: 0,
x2: 0,
y2: 1
},
stops: [
[0, Highcharts.getOptions().colors[0]],
[1, Highcharts.Color(Highcharts.getOptions().colors[0]).setOpacity(0).get('rgba')]
]
},
marker: {
radius: 2
},
lineWidth: 1,
states: {
hover: {
lineWidth: 1
}
},
threshold: null
}
},
series: [{
type: 'area',
name: 'USD to EUR',
data: data
}]
});
});
});
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://code.highcharts.com/highcharts.js"></script>
<script src="https://code.highcharts.com/maps/modules/map.js"></script>
<script src="https://code.highcharts.com/modules/exporting.js"></script>
<div id="container" style="min-width: 310px; height: 400px; margin: 0 auto"></div>

It looks like this is now possible, see xendi's answer below.
This is the original answer.
Nope. Not in the way you describe.
The Zooming Concepts Page on Highchart's site says
With a mouse pointer, the zooming is performed by dragging out a rectangle in the chart. Unlike pinch zooming, the user can't pan the zoomed area, but has to zoom out then in again on a new area.
On touch devices, the user can zoom by pinching in the chart area. On these devices, the user may also move the zoomed area by panning with one finger across the chart.
Those are the only official options you have. There is an active user voice feature request, but that was made back in 2011 (4 years ago). I think you are out of luck.

How do I change the style of the frame lines in a radar(polar) chart created with highcharts?

I am looking for settings to change some of the frame-lines in the radar chart.
There are 3 types of lines I'd like to be customized:
The red triangle line outside.
The 3 blue lines from center to each corner.
The small green triangle.
I've searched a lot but totally had no clue. I have tried to change the lineWidth of the yAxis and it only changes the width of the upper vertical line.
Here below is the code. It uses the latest highcharts to render the chart, as of Sep 12 2021 when I'm writing this question, it's 9.2.2:
window.chart = Highcharts.chart('container', {
chart: {
plotBackgroundColor: null,
plotBorderWidth: null,
plotShadow: false,
polar: true,
type: 'area'
},
title: {
text: "radar chart title",
margin:33,
useHTML:true
},
tooltip: {
pointFormat: '<span style="color:{series.color}"><b>{point.y:,.0f}</b>'
},
plotOptions: {
animation:true
},
xAxis: {
categories: ["a","b","c"],
tickmarkPlacement: 'on',
lineWidth: 0
},
yAxis: {
gridLineInterpolation: 'polygon',
lineWidth: 4,
min: 0,
max:100
},
legend: {
enabled: false
},
credits: {
enabled: false
},
series: [{

Use plot lines for y-axis:
yAxis: {
...
plotLines: [{
color: 'red',
value: 100,
zIndex: 2
}]
}
Use gridLineColor for x-axis:
xAxis: {
...,
gridLineColor: 'blue'
}
Use gridLineColor for y-axis:
yAxis: {
gridLineColor: 'green',
...
}

highstock: how to change color in areaspline when series intersect sma

good morning guys,
I need your help for a problem that I can not solve.
I need to highlight the intersections between a simple data series and the related moving average.
The data of the moving average are automatically generated by HighStock and are not calculated by me (otherwise I would have almost solved the problem!).
If it is not possible to graphically highlight with different colors every time the series is above or below the moving average
I would like to calculate the difference between the two series (in this way I could draw a single line around the zero value with negative red values and values green positive for example).
After numerous researches I have not yet solved my problem. I must say that the documentation of HighChart / HighStock is very complete but it is mainly for professionals.
Thanks for your help!
This is what I need (look at the picture)
$('#container').highcharts('StockChart', {
title: { text: 'Relative Strenght' },
navigator: { enabled: false },
series: [
{
id: 'forza-rel',
type: 'spline',
name: 'Rel. Str.',
data: forza_relativa,
},
{
name: 'M.A. 5',
type: 'sma',
linkedTo: 'forza-rel',
color:'#FF0000',
dashStyle: 'line',
marker: { enabled: false },
params: { period: 5 }
}
]
});
I need to highlight the intersections between a simple data series and
the related moving average.
It can be done, however, it requires a lot of custom code and it's a bit tricky.
I would like to calculate the difference between the two series
This can be done easily. SMA is just another series, so you have to loop through SMA series data and make a difference between its data and a basic series data. Than use series.setData() method to update the third series with calculated values (areasplie for example).

Position a Pie Chart inside a Highcharts Stockchart Tooltip

I am trying to position a semi circle donut chart inside tooltip of a time series area chart as in the below JSFiddle:
https://jsfiddle.net/bru187cj/74/
tooltip: {
shape:'circle',
useHTML: true,
formatter: function() {
setTimeout( function() {
$("#tca").highcharts({
chart: {
height:200,
backgroundColor:null,
plotBackgroundColor: null,
plotBorderWidth: null,
plotShadow: false
},
title:{
text:''
},
credits:{
enabled:false
},
exporting: {
enabled: false
},
plotOptions: {
pie: {
dataLabels: {
distance: 5
}
}
},
series: [{
type:'pie',
startAngle: -90,
endAngle: 90,
center: ['50%', '75%'],
innerSize:'60%',
data: [["A",15],["B",20],["C",3],["D",2]]
}]
});
}, 10)
return "<div id='hc-tooltip'><div id='tca'></div></div>";
}
}
However as you an see from the result, the donut chart is showing up outside the tooltip area. Note that this behaviour seems specific to StockChart.
Hope someone can help here.
You can set height style for the chart container in tooltip, but it can not be higher than the main chart plot area height.
#hc-tooltip {
display: inline-block;
width: 200px;
height: 200px;
padding: 0px;
}
Eventaully, you can customize 'renderSplit' method in Tooltip prototype.

Highcharts losing smooth zoom effect

When 'data' at 'series' option has less than 100 elements in total, there is smooth zoom. And when don't, smooth zoom disappears.
$(function () {
$.getJSON('https://www.highcharts.com/samples/data/jsonp.php?filename=usdeur.json&callback=?', function (data) {
var length = 99;
data = data.slice(0, length);
Highcharts.chart('container', {
chart: {
zoomType: 'x'
},
title: {
text: 'USD to EUR exchange rate over time'
},
subtitle: {
text: document.ontouchstart === undefined ?
'Click and drag in the plot area to zoom in' : 'Pinch the chart to zoom in'
},

Is there any way to make a smooth zoom even when 'data' has 100 and more elements at 'series'?
Set chart.animation to true.
chart: {
type: 'line',
zoomType: 'x',
animation: true
},

How to make highcharts scrollable horizontally when having big range in x-axis

I am generating my x-axis and y-axis data dynamically and displaying highcharts, but the chart becomes messy when the x-axis range is high with small intervals.
How do I make highcharts to make normal horizontally scrollable graph?
Here is what I am using right now:
<div id="container" style="min-width: 400px; height: 400px; margin: 0 auto"></div>
//CODE FOR HIGHCHARTS JS
function makeChart() {
$('#container').highcharts({
chart: {
type: 'line',
marginRight: 130,
marginBottom: 100
},
title: {
text: 'Banana',
x: -20 //center
},
subtitle: {
text: 'Source: banana.com',
x: -20
},
xAxis: {
categories: xlist
},
yAxis: {
title: {
text: 'No. of C'
},
plotLines: [{
value: 0,
width: 1,
color: '#808080'
}]
},
tooltip: {
valueSuffix: 'C'
},
legend: {
layout: 'vertical',
align: 'right',
verticalAlign: 'top',
x: -10,
y: 100,
borderWidth: 0
},
series: [{
name: $("#repoSelector option:selected").text(),
data: ylist
}]
});
}
Two ways to achieve a scroll bar.
Option 1
You will need to use highstock.js and instead of rendering a stock chart, you have to render a highchart.
Then enable the scroll bar
scrollbar: {
enabled: true
}
Check the API for scroll bar and related operations here.
Here I have fiddled an example.
Option 2
Try setting min & max attributes to the x-axis.
xAxis: {
categories: [...],
min: 0,
max:9
}
Displays 10 categories in x-axis at a stretch, adding a scroll for the rest of the categories.
find the fiddled example here.
To enable scrollbar in x-axis, try this
xAxis: {
categories: xlist,
min: 0,
max: 4,
scrollbar: {
enabled: true
},
},
Check the jfiddle here: https://jsfiddle.net/BhavyaAprajita/zja90wf2/1/
Also, make sure that you import the highstock library
src="https://code.highcharts.com/stock/highstock.js"
add this
const Highcharts = require('highcharts/highstock');
comment this if you have
// import Highcharts from 'highcharts';
change xAxis to like this
xAxis : {
categories: [],
min:0,
max:9,
scrollbar: {
enabled: true
}
}
Use
require('highcharts/highmaps') instead of require('highcharts') in imports<br>
#NgModule({<br>
...<br>
imports: [<br>
BrowserModule, <br>
ChartModule.forRoot( <br>
require('highcharts/highmaps')<br>
],<br>
})
