I'm facing a problem with the video player. HLS (m3u8) video from the asset is not playing on the iOS device. I've downloaded all the ts chunk files with playlist.m3u8 and copied them to the asset folder. Android there is no issue it's playing fine from the asset but on the iOS device it's not playing and the error log also not throwing.
Any solution? How to play HLS (m3u8) video from the asset/local on the iOS device.
Using: video_player: ^2.3.0
Thanks in advance!
If you need to access videos using HTTP (rather than HTTPS) URLs, you will need to add the appropriate NSAppTransportSecurity permissions to your app's Info.plist file, located in /ios/Runner/Info.plist.
See Apple's documentation to determine the right combination of entries for your use case and supported iOS versions.
I have to develop an AIR app for a client, that reads the video folder content and can play any video in it.
It's quite easy with Android, I can read any folder on the phone/tablet, but on iOS it's not that easy. I can't use applicationDirectory because the client wants to put videos himself later in the videos folder on iPad. (But if you have a solution to put files in applicationDirectory with iTunes or else, please share !)
I know there are some ane's that read the cameraroll content, but they display a native pickup screen, while I just need a list of the files.
I tried to use File.documentsDirectory to access content, but got no luck. If you have any idea, thanks in advance !
Ok I found a workaround : in my XML application file I added <key>UIFileSharingEnabled</key><true/> to the iPhone infoAdditions, so that I can access to app's documents through iTunes. I add files with iTunes, and I can read the content of the folder in AIR with File.documentsDirectory.getDirectoryListing()
Hope it will help someone else !
I am using Xamarin to develop an IOS app. Here the user has an option to download audio files to the document folder within the app, and play it later on.
But i would like to provide an option for the user to access it in music folder or somewhere else, so that user does not have to come back to app to listen it.
Like we save images to camera roll, can we save mp3 or any other audio file to default music folder in IOS. Any solution or ideas using xamarin or xcode are welcome.
Note: I already know about File Sharing with itunes, i am looking for something else explained above.
As I know this isn't possible due to the limitations within iOS
I have uploaded .mp4 videos to an Assest Library in SharePoint 2013. I can play these videos on IE and other browers but I am unable to play them on IPhone and IPAD. It is asking for Silverlight Installation. Is there any way I can play my videos on them.
Please help me.
Thanks.
I was in the same situation. You need to make an additional extra change. Initially I couldn't believe, but it is necessary to enable the blobcache for that SharePoint web application that is hosting the mp4 files in order to make them available for iPad / iPhone. When you enable the blobcache please make sure you have mp4 added as extension.
Here is an example of how the blobcache entry should look like in your web.config file. Of course please add the required adjustments based on your environment: cache location, size, extensions...
<BlobCache location="D:\SPS\BlobCache" path="\.(gif|jpg|jpeg|jpe|jfif|bmp|dib|tif|tiff|themedbmp|themedcss|themedgif|themedjpg|themedpng|ico|png|wdp|hdp|css|js|asf|avi|flv|m4v|mov|mp3|mp4|mpeg|mpg|rm|rmvb|wma|wmv|ogg|ogv|oga|webm|xap)$" maxSize="10" enabled="true" />
You are not going to be able to get Silverlight on an Iphone/Ipad.
You should be able to simply download the mp4 files and play them direct from your device.
I had a video rendition set in the asset library and this caused a different video menu, and prompted to install Silverlight. Set the video properties so it forces the main video as default and it should play on iPad.
Cheers.
So I have a couple of videos on my website that I shot using the iPhone 4 and then converted to mp4, webm and ogg, so that I can use them with html5. Thing is, the video does not play at all on the 4 iOS devices that I tested and neither on Chrome for Android.
The Chrome issue could be because some of the mp4 are actually m4v files, but still after encoding with handbrake a video to the iphone 4 presset and in mp4 format, it still does not play.
What happens, you ask? Well, it shows the play button crossed out with a diagonal bar, the debug console on Safari does not show any message untill I try to access the video directly. Then it says: QuickTime Movie could not be played.
What can I do? I have been trying to encode with ffmpeg, have tried a handful of different solutions, some even found here on stackoverlow, but to no avail. The videos do get shorter, both in display size and MBs, but nothing works to fix the issue at hand.
I've been trying to get this corrected for a couple of weeks now. Any help and/or suggestions are welcome.
Thank you.
By the way, all the videos are on a registred users section of the website, but I have one for debugin on the main page, so feel free to test.

It seems the issue is caused by the iOS' need of an Intermediate Certificate trusted by the iOS to play videos through an SSL connection. After disabling the re-routing of the website to its ssl counterpart, the videos display correctly on iOS.
