Changing Alpha of UITableView Section on Cell Select - ios

I have an issue when using multiple table view sections. I am trying to change the alpha for a cell when the user taps it. Each section in the table view has one row.
Here is my code.
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
NSIndexPath *indexPathInSection = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:0 inSection:indexPath.section];
[tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPathInSection].contentView.alpha = 0.2f;
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didDeselectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
NSIndexPath *indexPathInSection = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:0 inSection:indexPath.section];
[tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPathInSection].contentView.alpha = 1.0f;
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
MatchCell *cell = (MatchCell *)[self cellForIdentifier:tableView:#"MatchCell"];
MatchedUser *user = (MatchedUser *)(self.matches)[indexPath.section];
[self configureMatchCell:cell :user :tableView];
NSIndexPath *selection = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:0 inSection:indexPath.section];
if (selection.section == indexPath.section && cell.isSelected){
cell.contentView.alpha = 0.2f;
}else{
cell.contentView.alpha = 1.0f;
}
return cell;
}
The alpha is applied to the cell that is tapped but other cells are also changed. This is because it is applied according to the row number not the section and row number. How can I specify the cell at the section and row index only?
Thanks.

Expanding a table cell on clicking a button outside it in objective c

- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
[tableView beginUpdates]; // tell the table you're about to start making changes
if ([indexPath compare:self.expandedIndexPath] == NSOrderedSame) {
self.expandedIndexPath = nil;
} else {
self.expandedIndexPath = indexPath;
}
[tableView endUpdates]; // tell the table you're done making your changes
- (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
if ([indexPath compare:self.expandedIndexPath] == NSOrderedSame) {
return 200.0; // Expanded height
}
return 44.0; // Normal height
}
- (void)pieChart:(XYPieChart *)pieChart didSelectSliceAtIndex:(NSUInteger)index
{
This is a function of getting the index , when clicking a pie chart.
what i need to do is expand the corresponding row of table when pie is selected
}
#end
If i got your idea you need to select the row at index path
- (void)pieChart:(XYPieChart *)pieChart didSelectSliceAtIndex:(NSUInteger)index
{
// get indexPath with index
// remember if you have few sections then you will need to update inSection:0 value
NSIndexPath *indexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:index inSection:0];
[yourTableView selectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath
animated:NO
scrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionNone];
// This will also Highlighted the row. Then delegate
[yourTableView.delegate someTableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
}

Objective C: Switch UITableViewCell when deselecting Cell

I'm working on a prototype (I'm way too green on Objective C) which has a tableview with two different custom prototype cells, each with their own set of components, layout and height. The expected behavior is that when selected, the row expands and shows cell type b, and the previously selected row returns to the former height and cell type.
Ok, so the issue I'm having is that I can't get the previously selected row to change it's cell type, the height is working ok so I end up displaying a shorter version of the expanded cell but not having the components and layout of the desired cell type, and if I scroll through the tableview and return to the location where the previously selected row is it displays the correct cell type, as if it hasn't refreshed the rest of the rows.
Here's my code for tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
static NSString *CellIdentifier;
UITableViewCell *cell = nil;
if(indexPath.row == self.selectedIndex){
CellIdentifier = #"ExpandedCell";
CollapsedCell *collapsedCell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier forIndexPath:indexPath];
cell = collapsedCell;
}else{
CellIdentifier = #"LocationCell";
LocationCell *locationCell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier forIndexPath:indexPath];
locationCell.transparentBorder.layer.borderWidth = 5.0f;
locationCell.transparentBorder.layer.borderColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:255/255 green:255/255 blue:255/255 alpha:0.7].CGColor;
cell = locationCell;
}
BHPlace *currentPlace = self.data[indexPath.row];
NSString *name = currentPlace.name;
LocationCell *locationCell = (LocationCell*)cell;
locationCell.nameLabel.text = name;
cell.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
[cell setSelectionStyle:UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone];
return cell;
}
and here's the code for my didSelectRowAtIndexPath:
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
[self.tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:[NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:self.selectedIndex inSection:0] animated:YES];
[self.tableView beginUpdates];
self.selectedIndex = (int)indexPath.row;
NSArray *paths = #[indexPath];
[self.tableView reloadRowsAtIndexPaths:paths withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade];
[self.tableView endUpdates];
[self goToMarker:self.data[indexPath.row]];
}
As usual I'm sure it's a simple issue and there's something I'm not getting right but can't find the right approach,
Thank you all for your time
You just need to reload both the previously selected and the newly selected rows -
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
NSMutableArray *paths=[NSMutableArray new];
if (self.selectedIndexPath != nil) {
[paths addObject:self.selectedIndexPath];
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:self.selectedIndexPath animated:YES];
}
[self.tableView beginUpdates];
self.selectedIndexPath = indexPath;
[paths addObject:indexPath];
[self.tableView reloadRowsAtIndexPaths:paths withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade];
[self.tableView endUpdates];
[self goToMarker:self.data[indexPath.row]];
}
Note that I changed your int property to an NSIndexPath * self.selectedIndexPath

Mark all checkboxes in UITableView with a Button Click

In my UITableView "tableview" I added checkboxes in each row using UITableView default functionality.
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[tableview setEditing:YES animated:YES];
}
-(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView editingStyleForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
return 3;
}
I can select only Multiple checkboxes.But I want to select all the checkboxes using a button click.I can use didSelectRowAtIndexPath to loop through all the rows and get the contents but the checkboxes stays unchecked.
- (IBAction)selectallbutton:(id)sender {
NSInteger nRows=[arr count];
for(int i=0;i<nRows;i++){
NSIndexPath *indexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:i inSection:0];
[self tableView:tableview didSelectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
}
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSLog(#"%#",[arr objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]);
}
Is it possible to check them all using this approach or should I try another way?
try this,
- (IBAction)selectallbutton:(id)sender {
NSInteger nRows=[arr count];
for(int i=0;i<nRows;i++){
NSIndexPath *indexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:i inSection:0];
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableview cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
[cell setSelected:YES animated:NO]; //you can change animated:YES if needed
}
}

TableView deselectRowAtIndexPath does not call setHighlighted

I'm trying to change states of the label in my table view cell.
I want to keep a cell selected while I push a different view controller and move back to the view controller with my tableview.
When I select another row I want to remove highlight of previously selected row's lable (deselect the previously selected row) and Highlight the current row's label.
Is - (void)deselectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath animated:(BOOL)animated supposed to call - (void)setHighlighted:(BOOL)highlighted animated:(BOOL)animated with highlighted 'NO' for that Cell ?
Note: I'm not UITableViewController.
Keep cell selected:
-(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
cell.selected = YES;
//Other code
}
Ensure that the class cell don't have selected = NONE in interface builder.
Unselect last row:
- (NSIndexPath *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView willSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSIndexPath *currentSelectedIndexPath = [tableView indexPathForSelectedRow];
if (currentSelectedIndexPath)
{
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
cell.selected = NO;
}
return indexPath;
}
First, you should set TableviewCell properly [cell setSelectionStyle:UITableViewCellSelectionStyleGray]; in method :
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
Other then this, you can set custom background of selected cell by
UIView *bgColorView = [[UIView alloc] init];
bgColorView.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:0.97 alpha:1.0];
bgColorView.layer.masksToBounds = YES;
[cell setSelectedBackgroundView:bgColorView];
For Your highlight selected cell problem, you can use Simple flag like
-(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
NSIndexPath *ip= [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:flagForLastSelectedRow inSection:0];
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES];
flagForLastSelectedRow=indexPath.row;
}

Checkmark in a tableview, only one selected

Hi I know how to add a tick mark on each row when you select it, but how can you only allow ONE to be ticked ?
-(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
[self.CityTableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES];
[self.CityTableView setTintColor:[UIColor grayColor]];
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
[self.CityTableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath].accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
this does it for every one, but I want it to remove the last one and add the new one when another one is pressed.
thanks
Create an instance variable as NSIndexPath *selectedIndex;
In your
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
// Your cell Initialization here
cell.accessoryType = [indexPath isEqual:selectedIndex] ?UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark : UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
return cell;
}
-(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSIndexPath * prevIndexPath = selectedIndex;
selectedIndex = indexPath;
[tableView reloadRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:prevIndexPath, indexPath, nil] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade];
}
