I have a UITableView with three Cell Prototypes in the storyboard, I use one cell in the header section, one for the normal table rows and another for the table footer.
-(UIView *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView viewForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Header";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
//some personalization
return cell;
}
My problem is whenever i enter in the edit mode of the tableview the header and footer are moving to the left, like the cell that is current editing.
- (void) setEditing:(BOOL)editing animated:(BOOL)animated {
[super setEditing:editing animated:animated];
[self.tableView setEditing:editing animated:animated];
}
- (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canEditRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
return YES;
}
In edit mode:
Any solution or hints?
Neither the last XCode update fixed it.
Thank you
Solved. Basically I had to create a UIView and use that in as My header / footer, and not use a UITableViewCell.
Thanks to
Table Header Views in StoryBoards
and
Stick UITableView header view to top when creating header in storyboard
Along the way I found out that it's perfectly fine using a tableViewCell, you just return the cell contentView and the indention for the header while editing is gone.
I solved the issue of "moving" headers with creating a header with a UIView instead of UITableViewCell. You can do it by simply dragging a UIView out to the UITableView it will place it right above/between prototype cells. Then you can treat it as and view in Interface Builder. You can create a controller for it, but imho it is quicker and easier to give it a tag and then use tableView.viewWithTag(tag). Hope it helps!

I am learning about UITableview on iOS and following a course online. I get the table showing fine, but the images on my cells are not all the way to the left (whereas the instructor's ones are). Here is a screenshot of the cells in question:
I don't want that gap, I want the images to be positioned right at the beggining of the cell, all the way to the left. I have done some research and it seems Apple has changed the default look of the cells between ios6 and ios7 so that now the images in cells show a little gap at the left. To get rid of it, I have tried UIEdgeInsets:
[tableView setSeparatorInset:UIEdgeInsetsZero];
and that's not working. I also have tried this approach:
cell.imageView.frame = CGRectMake( 0, 0, 50, 55 );
Nothing happens. So how would I go about it? Thanks

Still not have found the answer to this. The solutions posted here don't work. I found this piece of code:
self.tableView.contentInset = UIEdgeInsetsMake(0, -50, 0, 0);
Which besides completely puzzling me (as the parameter affected should be the y?) I thought solved the issue by making the image on the cell appear all the way to the left, until I realised it only moved the whole view to the left (as I should have expected I guess) leaving an equal gap on the other side of the screen. All I want is for my images in the cells to appear all the way to the left of the cell as it used to be the case on previous ios. Thanks
It happens because default table content offset from left is 15, you should change it with 0.
See this once, you get idea Remove empty space before cells in UITableView
If you create custom cells. UITableViewCell have owner imageView. Change title of image in your cell.
If you use default cell, use custom cell with constraint Leading space = 0.
It is better not use default imageView of the cell. Drag and drop UIImageView from objective library, create a custom table view cell (Child class of UITableViewCell) then create and outlet of the image view just dragged.
The spacing in the UITableViewCell is because of the default TRUE returned by shouldIndentWhileEditingRowAtIndexPath method of UITableViewDelegate.
I was able to reproduce your problem by the below scenario:
UITableView is in editable mode:
self.tableView.editing = true
And you have implemented:
- (UITableViewCellEditingStyle)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView
editingStyleForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
return UITableViewCellEditingStyleNone;
}
To correct your code:
If you do not want to set Editing Style then you can turn off the editing mode by
self.tableView.editing = false
and remove editingStyleForRowAtIndexPath.
Else if you need editing mode then set the appropiate Editing style(UITableViewCellEditingStyleDeleteor UITableViewCellEditingStyleInsert) or simply turn the indentation off.
- (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView
shouldIndentWhileEditingRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
return FALSE;
}
You must create a custom cell, by adding a new class as a subclass of UITableViewCell. then you can design cell with autolayout and constraints which will resolve the issue.
there is a another concrete way to achieve this by creating subclass uitableviewcell (custom class).
steps to follow
create a class subclass of UITableViewCell.
in .h file create properties and outlets of UI components.
go to storyboard and add table view cell inside the tableview.
now add UI components like: imageview or button etc and set the x, y values according to.
make class of custom cell your className using identity inspector see image.
connect all outlets of UI components.
use below code uitableview
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
NSString *MyIdentifier = #"uniqueIdentifire";
yourCustomClassForCell *cell = (yourCustomClassForCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:MyIdentifier];
if (cell == nil){
cell = [[yourCustomClassForCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault
reuseIdentifier:MyIdentifier];
}
cell.imageView.image = [imageAry objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
}
Dont forget to give identifire by selecting your cell using storyboard Attribute inspector uniqueIdentifire to identifire property see image.
Also you can give some vertical space between cells by just to add this below code (Method only) inside customeCellClass.
- (void)setFrame:(CGRect)frame { // method to insert gap between table view cell
frame.origin.y += 6;
frame.size.height -= 2 * 6;
[super setFrame:frame];
}
You can not really change the frame of the inbuilt subviews of uitableviewcell like imageview, accessoryview. But if you create a custom tableviewcell class(even if you do not add any other subelement to it), you can change the frame of the inbuilt imageview by overriding the layoutSubviews method inside the UITableViewCell. I have tried it and it works.
#import "TableViewCell.h"
#implementation TableViewCell
- (void)awakeFromNib {
[super awakeFromNib];
// Initialization code
}
- (void)setSelected:(BOOL)selected animated:(BOOL)animated {
[super setSelected:selected animated:animated];
// Configure the view for the selected state
}
-(void) layoutSubviews{
[super layoutSubviews];
CGRect frame = self.imageView.frame;
frame.origin.x = 0;
self.imageView.frame = frame;
}
#end
I have a UITableView with Custom Headers but I can't remove the bottom white line inside. The Separator property is set to none, in fact, the cells in the section don't have the line.
-(UIView *) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView viewForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section {
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"DashboardSectionHeader";
UITableViewCell *headerView = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
...
return headerView;
}
- (CGFloat) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
return 60;
}
Have you checked DashboardSectionHeader cell?If there is a line at the bottom.Try changing the backgroundcolor of this cell and see.If the line is appearing in the section view ,then there should be say a one pixel space at the bottom of this cell through which the background will be visible.
I had the same issue in the same circumstances as you, and for me the problem have been solved by adding:
cell.contentView.clipsToBounds = NO;
in tableView: viewForHeaderInSection: method. Or you can just uncheck Clip Subview property in Attribute Inspector for your cells Content View (in Storyboard or xib file). FYI, I kept this property checked for my TableViewCell.
Hi i have been searching around to find a way to remove a static cell with animation but i have not found a solution to the problem.
I have also tried: [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[self.taskArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade];
but no success.
You need to hide cell before it is shown, in UITableViewDelegate's tableView:willDisplayCell:forRowAtIndexPath: method. This is the last method in your control where you can manipulate the cell display. It does not remove the space the cell takes, so another thing you can try is to set cell row's height to 0 using the tableView:heightForRowAtIndexPath: method of the same protocol.
- (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
UITableViewCell *cell = [super tableView:tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
if (yourCell) {
return 0;
} else {
return [super tableView:tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
}
}
As your tableview is static, you cannot use deleteRowsAtIndexPath. The best option would probably be to migrate your data into a dataSource method for the tableview.
If this is impossible, then this answer ("UITableView set to static cells. Is it possible to hide some of the cells programmatically?") gives that the best method is to use the third party library
StaticDataTableViewController 2.0 (https://github.com/xelvenone/StaticDataTableViewController).
Otherwise you have to use the somewhat hacky method of changing the row height to 0.
I am making UITableView with many cells.
Than in code, i am adding custom view in cells, and after 10 rows my custom UIView duplicates.
See more in the screenshots.
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
EFMyTrainingPreviewTableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:#"previewCell"];
"SOME CODE"
return cell;
}
-(void)makeCompleteButtonForWorkOut:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
EFMyTrainingPreviewTableViewCell *cell = (EFMyTrainingPreviewTableViewCell *)[_tableviewMyTraining cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
[_tableviewMyTraining scrollToRowAtIndexPath:indexPath atScrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionMiddle animated:YES];
"SOME CODE"
[touchViewCompleteApproach addSubview:view];
}
[cell addSubview:touchViewCompleteApproach];
}
cellForRowAtIndexPath will help you because when you scroll table view it refreshes the cells, and uses custom cells with views and buttons you wish.
It's simple and your code will look nice.
But beware of using addSubview in cellForRowAtIndexPath.
The best approach in your case is to add a subview inside the method cellForRowAtIndexPath. Using the indexPath as the source for getting a reusable cell can lead to reusability buttons.
Wish it helps!
I need to do something like this :
.
Is it a UITableView? Or how should I do this? Any idea is welcome.
Code:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
if (indexPath.section == 0) {
if (indexPath.row == 0) return cell1;
} else if (indexPath.section == 1) {
if (indexPath.row == 0) return cell2;
} else if (indexPath.section == 2) {
if (indexPath.row == 0) return cell3;
}
}
Most likely its a UITableView. May be its not (it can be a UIScrollView with views added like sections in a table view).
But if you want to create something like in the image, I'd suggest you to use UITableView with customized cells. Because implementing table view, in this case, is simpler as you have to just concern about the delegate and the dateSource of the table view, rather than worrying about aligning the views in order.
Use sectioned table view with the translucent, gray-bordered, black-background-view as the backgroundView of the cells. Add the labels and arrow as the subviews of cell. You can add arrow as the accessoryView but that would become vertically centered, but in the image the arrow is displayed slightly on top of the cell.
There should be only one cell in each section.
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section {
return 1;
}
There can be any number of sections (3 here).
- (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView {
return 3; // Can be any number
}
Yes, that's most likely a styled table view. See this guide or this nice tutorial.
why you worry about this one? Its simple man.... its nothing ,if you have hands over UITableView. Yeah, You must know about :
1: Set background image on view,exact as table size.
2: Set table view onto them and make background transparent.
3: Make customize table cell and add to table' row.
Thats it.....enjoy this work..its a creativity.
And you can do it guy....
I cannot tell exactly what is used from the picture, however I suggest using the UITableView especially if you have variable data coming from a structured object.
Some tutorials which I found very useful are the following:
Creating customized UITableViewCell from XIB
http://www.bdunagan.com/2009/06/28/custom-uitableviewcell-from-a-xib-in-interface-builder/
UIViewTable anti-patterns - A very good MVC pattern to build UIViewTable
http://www.slideshare.net/nullobject/uitableviewcontroller-antipatterns
And of course Apple's docs:
http:/developer.apple.com/library/ios/#DOCUMENTATION/UserExperience/Conceptual/TableView_iPhone/TableViewCells/TableViewCells.html
One important fact to remember is that you should always reuse cached table cells through the datasource method tableView:didSelectRowAtIndexPath:
Note: Since you want lots of transparencies there might be some performance issue especially on older devices.
Hope this helps and goodluck with your project.
There is not need to its scrollview or tableview... both are perform same..
Just change the Background Color of Tableview as clear color.....
check this code...
put this line to viewDidLoad :
[tableView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]];
and
(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
..... // Your label buttons etc........
......
......
.....
[cell setSelectionStyle:UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone];
[cell setClipsToBounds:YES];
[[cell layer] setBorderColor:[[UIColor blackColor] CGColor]];
[[cell layer] setCornerRadius:10];
}
You can do this using tableView in
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
return 1;
}
- (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView
{
//here place return your array contents
}
We can accomplish the similar as shown in image above by Table View and scroll view both.If you don't want to use table view then you can take a scroll view or a simple view and can add several buttons along with the image in background with different frames.It means button background will have the same image.then you can use different labels to show all the texts in different labels according to the requirement.
OR
you can use table view.For this you need to return number of sections 3(in this image) in the delegate method - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView.and then everything as the default tableview style.And then change the cell style to detailed.
yes this is a tableView with custom UITableViewCell.you can do that by creating a empty xib file and then add a UITableViewCell and do your customizing ...then in cellForRowAtIndexPath method use:
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:edentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[[NSBundle mainBundle]loadNibNamed:#"yourCellName" owner:self options:nil]objectAtIndex:0];
this is from my application.
Yes, it is a groupedtableview with clearcolor as backgroundcolor. Cell background color also needs to be changed to clearcolor.
I suggest using div or list, don't use table, its very hard to control if the contents are too long.
