How to add TabbarController to NavigationController - ios

I have a project with navigationController and storyboard.
Now i need to add another project to this (combine two projects)
I want to use TabbarController to switch between two navigationControllers.
How can I realise this?

put Down this Code in Your AppDelegates view controller :-
#implementation AppDelegate
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions {
UITabBarController *tabBar = [[UITabBarController alloc] init];
ViewController *homeVC = [[ViewController alloc] init];
homeVC.tabBarItem.title = #"Home";
homeVC.tabBarItem.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"Home-icon.png"];
UINavigationController *HomeNavi = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:homeVC];
settingViewController *settingVC = [[settingViewController alloc] init];
settingVC.tabBarItem.title = #"Setting";
settingVC.tabBarItem.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"Setting-icon.png"];
UINavigationController *settingNavi = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:settingVC];
tabBar.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:HomeNavi,settingNavi, nil];
HomeNavi.navigationBarHidden = YES;
settingNavi.navigationBarHidden = YES;
[self.window makeKeyAndVisible];
self.window.rootViewController = tabBar;
// Override point for customization after application launch.
return YES;
}

created Tab bar and side menu Issues

I created tab bar and side menu using Sw reveal programmatically but after implementing all process i cant able to view side menu and my tab bar also disappeared...i don't know how to alloc them pleas help me out
#implementation AppDelegate
#synthesize window = _window;
#synthesize viewController = _viewController;
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions {
// Override point for customization after application launch.
self.tabBarController =[[UITabBarController alloc]init];
//Initialize View controller and speciality
UIViewController *viewcontroller1=[[HomeView alloc]init];
UIViewController *viewcontroller2=[[Speciality alloc]init];
UIViewController *viewcontroller3=[[Activity alloc]init];
UIViewController *viewcontroller4 =[[Notification alloc]init];
UIViewController *viewcontroller5 =[[Profile alloc]init];
self.tabBarController.viewControllers=[NSArray arrayWithObjects:viewcontroller1,viewcontroller2,viewcontroller3,viewcontroller4,viewcontroller5, nil];
self.window.rootViewController =self.tabBarController;
self.tabBarController.tabBar.barTintColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:0.376 green:0.729 blue:0.318 alpha:1.000];
self.window.backgroundColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
HomeView *frontViewController = [[HomeView alloc] init];
RearViewController *rearViewController = [[RearViewController alloc] init];
UINavigationController *frontNavigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:frontViewController];
UINavigationController *rearNavigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:rearViewController];
SWRevealViewController *mainRevealController = [[SWRevealViewController alloc]initWithRearViewController:rearNavigationController frontViewController:frontNavigationController];
mainRevealController.delegate = self;
self.window.rootViewController = self.viewController;
[self.window makeKeyAndVisible];
return YES;
}
You set your window.rootViewController two times. And it seems the second time you assign nil to it, as I can't see any initialization/assignement to self.viewController.

Root View Controller error in Xcode 5

I wrote this code for my application but when I launch the application, I get this message:
Application windows are expected to have a root view controller at the end of application launch
Here is the code:
NSMutableArray *controllers = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:2];
_tabBarController = [[UITabBarController alloc]init];
ListViewController *listViewController = [[ListViewController alloc]initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
listViewController.title = #"Lista";
listViewController.tabBarItem.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"list.jpg"];
InsertViewController *insertViewController = [[InsertViewController alloc]initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
insertViewController.title = #"Inserimento";
insertViewController.tabBarItem.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"plus.jpg"];
[controllers addObject:insertViewController];
[controllers addObject:listViewController];
_tabBarController.viewControllers = controllers;
I have try to add this:
UIViewController *viewController = [[UIViewController alloc] init];
self.window.rootViewController = viewController;
But when I launch the application is all white and the error does not appear.
This is my appdelegate.m an I have import header file and write in appdelegate.h this:
#interface AppDelegate : UIResponder <UIApplicationDelegate>{
UITabBarController *_tabBarController
}
in your AppDelegate.m
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions {
NSMutableArray *controllers = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:2];
_tabBarController = [[UITabBarController alloc]init];
ListViewController *listViewController = [[ListViewController alloc]initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
listViewController.title = #"Lista";
listViewController.tabBarItem.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"list.jpg"];
InsertViewController *insertViewController = [[InsertViewController alloc]initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
insertViewController.title = #"Inserimento";
insertViewController.tabBarItem.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"plus.jpg"];
[controllers addObject:insertViewController];
[controllers addObject:listViewController];
_tabBarController.viewControllers = controllers;
self.window.rootViewController = _tabBarController;
[self.window makeKeyAndVisible];
}
You need to set your tabBarController as the rootViewController of the UIWindow. To do this, inside your AppDelegate.m didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method, before the line [self.window makeKeyAndVisible] you need to do add self.window.rootViewController = _tabBarController;Hope this helps.

MHTabBarController add to uiviewcontroller

Im trying to use the MHTabBarController https://github.com/hollance/MHTabBarController
, in the example the custom view controller is added as a rootViewController in app delegate,
i want to add 3 tabs inside a standard tab bar controller's view for example MainViewController
here is my code inside viewDidLoad in MainViewController.m:
//MHTabBarController config
ListViewController *listViewController1 = [[ListViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain];
ListViewController *listViewController2 = [[ListViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain];
ListViewController *listViewController3 = [[ListViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain];
listViewController1.title = #"Tab 1";
listViewController2.title = #"Tab 2";
listViewController3.title = #"Tab 3";
NSArray *viewControllers = #[listViewController1, listViewController2, listViewController3];
MHTabBarController *tabBarController = [[MHTabBarController alloc] init];
tabBarController.delegate = self;
tabBarController.viewControllers = viewControllers;
[self.view addSubview:tabBarController.view];
ive also added the in MainViewController.h
but its not working, its showing a table but not the tabs on top.
what im missing?
That code should go inside the AppDelegate.m
Something like this:
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions: (NSDictionary *)launchOptions
{
MainViewController *mainViewController = [[MainViewController alloc] init];
mainViewController.title = #"Main Tab";
NSArray *viewControllers = #[mainViewController];
MHTabBarController *tabBarController = [[MHTabBarController alloc] init];
tabBarController.delegate = self;
tabBarController.viewControllers = viewControllers;
self.window = [[UIWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]];
self.window.rootViewController = tabBarController;
[self.window makeKeyAndVisible];
return YES;
}
This way you're adding a the tab bar into the MainViewController, if you wanna add the same tab bar into other view controllers, just add the view controllers into the viewControllers array.

PushView on PresentViewController iOS

I want to Push my viewController on PresentViewController
When i click on button initially i am loading PresentViewController, here is my code.
- (IBAction)JoinClicked:(id)sender{
JoinWithViewController *detail_view_controller = [[JoinWithViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"JoinWithViewController" bundle:nil];
[self.view.window.rootViewController presentViewController:detail_view_controller
animated:YES
completion:NULL];
}
this works fine, but when i click on button which is there on PresentViewController on click i want to Push my view, but in does not pushes.
Please help, Thanks in advance.
JoinWithViewController *detail_view_controller = [[JoinWithViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"JoinWithViewController" bundle:nil];
[self.navigationController pushViewController:detail_view_controller animated:YES];
Try like this to push viewController. If you use TabBar do like this in AppDelegate. If you create TabBar Drag and drop means leave that. Create TabBar Programatically like below.
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions
{
self.window = [[UIWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]];
// Override point for customization after application launch.
UITabBarController *tabController = [[UITabBarController alloc]init];
self.viewController = [[CalculatorViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"CalculatorViewController" bundle:nil];
UITabBarItem *tab_item1 = [[UITabBarItem alloc]init];
//tab_item1.title = #"Calculator";
tab_item1.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"Calculator.png"];
[self.viewController setTabBarItem:tab_item1];
UINavigationController *nav1 = [[UINavigationController alloc]initWithRootViewController:self.viewController];
ShowPhoneViewController *phone = [[ShowPhoneViewController alloc]init];
UITabBarItem *tab_item2 = [[UITabBarItem alloc]init];
tab_item2.title = #"Latest Mobiles";
tab_item2.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"Mobile.png"];
[phone setTabBarItem:tab_item2];
UINavigationController *nav2 = [[UINavigationController alloc]initWithRootViewController:phone];
CurrencyConvertorViewController *currency = [[CurrencyConvertorViewController alloc]init];
UITabBarItem *tab_item3 = [[UITabBarItem alloc]init];
tab_item3.title = #"Units Convertor";
tab_item3.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"Dollar.png"];
[currency setTabBarItem:tab_item3];
UINavigationController *nav3 = [[UINavigationController alloc]initWithRootViewController:currency];
SettingsPageViewController *setting = [[SettingsPageViewController alloc]init];
UITabBarItem *tab_item4 = [[UITabBarItem alloc]init];
tab_item4.title = #"Settings";
tab_item4.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"Settings.png"];
[setting setTabBarItem:tab_item4];
UINavigationController *nav4 = [[UINavigationController alloc]initWithRootViewController:setting];
tabController.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:nav1, nav2, nav3, nav4, nil];
self.window.rootViewController = tabController;
[self.window makeKeyAndVisible];
return YES;
}
I hope you got now
pushviewcontroller is the feature of UINavigationController where you can push one viewcontroller on another vierw controller. Here you are using a single viewcontroller as a rootviewcontroller so either you must change your rootviewcontroller to UINavigationcontroller or you can use "addSubview method" to add new viewController on the current viewcontroller.
but the better option is to add uinavigationcontroller as a rootviewcontroller.
AppDelegate.m
-(BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions {
FirstViewController *first = [[FirstViewController alloc]
initWithNibName:#"FirstViewController" bundle:nil];
UINavigationController *navController =[[UINavigationController alloc]
initWithRootViewController:first];
[self.window setRootViewController:navController];
}
Now when as you want to switch from FirstViewController to SecondViewController on button clicked than you have to use pushviewcontroller
FirstViewController.h
-(void) nextBtnPressed {
SecondViewController *second = [[SecondViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"SecondViewController" bundle:nil];
[self.navigationController pushViewController:second animated:TRUE];
}

How to insert UINavigationController inside UITabBarController

How to insert UINavigationController inside UITabBarController.
Currently I have main UITabBarController with declatarion inside application delegate like this (so tab is main)
self.window.rootViewController = self.tabBarController;
And inside one of tabs I want to insert UINavigationController, and can't get it.
The code is contructed like this:
MainWindow.xib with UITabBarController object with tab typed as UINavigationController (point to NavigationHistory.xib) - screenshot: invalid link
NavigationHistory.xib contains only UINavigationController where view point to History.xib
History.xib have only UITableView element - screenshot: invalid link
And now UIViewController doesn't display my View1 view, and I have no clue why it may be. Maybe you have any clue? or point me to the place where such configuration is done.
I'll answer myself. It's good explained at
https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/WindowsViews/Conceptual/ViewControllerCatalog/Chapters/CombiningViewControllers.html
Write a code in appdelegate.m file.....
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions
{
self.window = [[UIWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]];
NSMutableArray *Mutablearray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
UIViewController *1st_View = [[FirstViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"FirstViewController_iPhone" bundle:nil];
UINavigationController *Navigation = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:1st_View];
[Mutablarray addObject:Navigation];
UIViewController *2nd_View = [[SecondViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"SecondViewController_iPhone" bundle:nil];
UINavigationController *Navigation = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:2nd_View];
[Mutablearray addObject:Navigation];
self.tabBarController = [[UITabBarController alloc] init];
self.tabBarController.viewControllers = Mutablearray;
self.window.rootViewController = self.tabBarController;
[self.window makeKeyAndVisible];
return YES;
}
Add your controller object to UINavigationController, and add that navigationcontroller object to UITabBarController
UINavigationController is a subclass of UIViewController, a UITabBarController expects an array of UIViewControllers (and therefore UINavigationController ); this tells me me that I can give a UITabBarController an array of UINavigationControllers (or sublasses thereof) giving the desired interaction.

UITabBarController *tab = [[UITabBarController alloc] init];
SimpleTableViewController *tableView = [[SimpleTableViewController alloc] init];
UINavigationController *nav1 = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:tableView];

nav1.tabBarItem = item;
AboutViewController *about = [[AboutViewController alloc] init];
UINavigationController *nav2 = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:about];
UITabBarItem *item2 = [[UITabBarItem alloc] initWithTabBarSystemItem:UITabBarSystemItemFeatured tag:0];
nav2.tabBarItem = item2;
tab.viewControllers = #[nav1,nav2];
self.window.rootViewController = tab;
[self.window makeKeyAndVisible];
return YES;
