Octopress Twitter Plugin and the retired Twitter v1.0 - twitter

So I'm using Ocotopress 2 and love it. However, I think the twitter plugin may have been broken for a while before I noticed.
I suspect it's because it uses the now retired v1.0 twitter API.
I get
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 410 (Gone)
for the URL
https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline...
Can anyone confirm that and suggest a fix? I can't/don't want to upgrade the Octopress 3 so I'm hoping there's an easy fix.

Yes, Twitter API v1.1 requires authentication so Octopress dropped it (see the issue on Github).
For a fix, I'm using a method described in this pull request which involves creating a Twitter timeline widget and adding the widget ID to _config.yml. Easy to setup and has worked quite well for my basic needs.

Rest API V1 No longer Active

I'm using a twitter API to fetch latest tweets from some person.
It was working well until 16 June 2013.
But now it gives me error - "410 error - rest api v1 not active" while fetching tweets.
Can anyone please help me out to migrate api version 1.1 over 1.0?
or
any other solution
Thanks
I never worked with twitter http api directly. If your twitter codebase is small then you can refactor your code by using a library or implementing some kind of abstraction to make migration to later minor API changes less painful.
As I can see from this article migration seems pretty straightforward. You should always authenticate your requests for all API calls.
API v1 was retired recently, as outlined here. To get up and running again, look at the changes from 1.0 to 1.1 here or here.

How to programmatically obtain OAuth2 client credentials for Google API

I'm trying to create a redistributable web application that will integrate with Google Analytics through the Google Reporting API. Customer will install the application on their server.
I'm following this tutorial (I'm using PHP, but I believe this is not of importance for my question)
https://developers.google.com/analytics/resources/tutorials/hello-analytics-api
This works fine. No issues there.
However I can't figure out one missing element:
The tutorial starts with sending me to the Google APIs console where I have to create and configure a new API project and create and configure a client ID.
That's a lot of work that requires fairly technical knowledge (redirect url, selecting correct API, error-prone copy-and-pasting, etc.)
So my questions:
Is there an API so I can programmatically set this up for my user?
If that's not possible, is there a more user-friendly way to obtain Analytics reporting that is future-proof? (I noticed they are currently deprecating a few older APIs)
Unfortunately that's AFAIK not possible.
You could go one of the following ways:
Move client_id and client_secret to some configuration file and help your customer with deployment.
Show a one-time setup wizard for your app and guide your customer step-by-step. There you can at least provide him with the right callback URLs.
Regard your application as "installed application" and instrument curl or something similar for sending the requests.

Foursquare and ASP.Net

does anybody work with foursquare api and asp.net, do you know some basic tutorial, how to set the environment, do I need some api, how can I make my app to conect to 4sq and ask something. I work with asp.net mvc2, and any clue on this would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.
There are a couple of C# libraries available for the foursquare API, you can see the complete list here:
https://developer.foursquare.com/docs/libraries.html
In terms of tutorials, you can use the interactive query viewer on the foursquare website to get a sense of the data:
https://developer.foursquare.com/docs/venues/venues.html
(click 'try it now' and it will give you an interactive query console for the api!)
You can also get a walkthrough of how to do OAuth2 authentication on the website too:
https://developer.foursquare.com/docs/oauth.html
For what it's worth, when I was first playing with the API I found it useful to test out all of my queries using cURL, then once you use a library you're already a pro.
Hope that helps?

Facebook gem for Ruby on Rails

I am going to make a very simple web application. I only need the friend list of the current user and then send a message to a selected user with an image/text. I have looked after gems that wraps the detail of extracting data from Facebook and I found some gems, but they all use the old REST API. First of all: is it bad to use the REST API? If not, is "Facebooker" a good gem? If it is bad I found this Which Ruby gems support the Facebook API? but I don't see much of documentation for the Facebooker2. Are there other options?
i'm using koala - works with OAuth authentication and Facebook Graph API. Didn't have any serious problems with it, and it's pretty well documented (with examples) on github
The Ruby Toolbox is a great resource for this kind of question.
In your case, try searching for 'facebook' -- as in https://www.ruby-toolbox.com/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=facebook -- and you'll find that https://github.com/nov/fb_graph is a popular and well-maintained FB gem (at least riight now).
Since Facebook introduced the Open Graph API I've found it's pretty easy to just roll my own wrapper for the REST calls I need using an http client like HTTParty or RestClient. YMMV.

How to use OAuth2 in google-api-java-client?

I am trying to use the PredictionSample in google-api-java-client, but with ClientLogin authentication it gives me error:
User is not a trusted tester
I have activated the Google Prediction API in my APIs Console project. And I am able to run the Hello World prediction example from http://code.google.com/apis/predict/docs/hello_world.html with the same user. It uses oacurl and oauth2.
But it does not work with google-api-java-client. I am also not able to make oauth2 work with google-api-java-client.
I have searched the documentation and samples and have found no solution. Is it possible to do what is done in the hello_world example using the google-api-java-client.
I ran into a similar problem using Blogger API in my Google APP Engine Project. Attached is the link to the Stackoverflow question and sample code I was able to get working. Hope it helps.
