I don't know how to say in language, but I need what I realize in this spreadsheet
In attached spreadsheet there are two sheets: "How it is now" and "How it should be".
I use this formula in other sheets, but now it doesn't work correctly:
=ArrayFormula(IF(ROW(A:A)=1; SUM(INDIRECT("D2:"&"D")); IF(LEN(A:A); (E:E+F:F+G:G)-B:B)))
Please remove the trailing FALSE text in the first column after the cell range.
In D1 I need a SUM of D2:D. But there is an error "Circular dependency". Try please.
For everyone interested, the answer from myself:
=arrayformula(if(row(A:A)=1;sum(if(isnumber(B:B);E:E+F:F+G:G-B:B;));if(len(A:A);if(isnumber(B:B);E:E+F:F+G:G-B:B;);)))

I'm trying to work with combined arrangeformula and importrange formulas. I want that from spreadsheet1:Table1 P4 value would be taken to spreadsheet2 C3 cell: Table2 and only when i add new link to column "L" it will put automatic value at C4. So i want to use arrangeformula so it will work on whole column, but i want to fix that from all the links i add it would take same "P4" value. Possible?
There is no solution. See link1 and link2
All you can is
={IFERROR(IMPORTRANGE($L3;"Lapas1!A2");"");
IFERROR(IMPORTRANGE($L4;"Lapas1!A2");"");
IFERROR(IMPORTRANGE($L5;"Lapas1!A2");"");
IFERROR(IMPORTRANGE($L6;"Lapas1!A2");"")}
as many times as you wish
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to count the number of "Yes" appeared in each row. I want to use array formula so that I'm not required to have formula in each cell in column G. May I know arrayformula can achieve this or there is other method? I tried to use arrayformula(countif(B4:F4,"Yes")) but nothing come out for row 5,6,7,8. Hope to get some advice on this problem as I'm new to google sheet. Thank you.
Give this a try.
=ARRAYFORMULA(COUNTIF(IF(B4:F="Yes", ROW(B4:B8)), ROW(B4:B8)))
Edit: For the case that you describe below (only including certain columns), it's a little more involved, but the same principle works.
=ARRAYFORMULA(COUNTIF(IF(B4:B="Yes", ROW(B4:B8)), ROW(B4:B8)) + COUNTIF(IF(D4:D="Yes", ROW(D4:D8)), ROW(D4:D8)) + COUNTIF(IF(F4:F="Yes", ROW(F4:F8)), ROW(F4:F8)))
Following ARRAYFORMULA is giving me an error "parameter 1 value is invalid."
=ARRAYFORMULA(IF(ISBLANK(B2:B), "", GOOGLEFINANCE(B2:B, "price")))
B column of my sheet contains the stock symbols whose value I wish to fill in my sheet. Example below
Company Name
GOOG
ADBE
MSFT
Can someone help here?
This questions seems to be a duplicate of Google finance as an argument for ArrayFormula. I have answered it with more detail. As a new user I'm only able to post an answer here, I cannot comment/flag as duplicate.
Anyway, assuming stock symbols are in range B2:B, then you put the following formula in cell C2:
=IFERROR(MAP(B2:B,LAMBDA(company,GOOGLEFINANCE(company,"price"))))
This is a new method since the introduction of LAMBDA and its helper functions in Google Sheets in August 2022.
The trick here is, as far as I understand, that MAP(LAMBDA) calculates the specified formula for each row in the input array separately (effect similar to manually expanding the formula over the whole range), whereas ARRAYFORMULA passes the whole array as an argument to the formula (GOOGLEFINANCE is special and doesn't work intuitively with such input).
LAMBDA and friends are available, so this works:
=BYROW(A2:A, LAMBDA(row, IF(row = "",, GOOGLEFINANCE(row, "price"))))
Old story:
GOOGLEFINANCE cannot be used in array formulas. You'll have to extend your formula downwards.
For example this formula should be in every cell from C2 and down:
=IF(NOT(ISBLANK($B$2:$B)), GOOGLEFINANCE($B$2:$B, "price"), "")
I am encountering a capacity issue with one of my spreadsheets but certain information in the sheet still needs to be available to cross-reference. The original spreadsheet contains this formula:
=sumif(A:A,A2,N:N)=O2
I tried to do a direct transfer to the new spreadsheet by adding importranges like this:
=SUMIF(IMPORTRANGE("URL","Sheet1!A2:A"),IMPORTRANGE("URL","Sheet1!A2"),IMPORTRANGE("URL","Sheet1!N2:N")=IMPORTRANGE("URL","Sheet1!O2")
The equation keeps putting out an error saying "argument must be a range". Then I tried to write it out as a query like this:
=QUERY(AND(IMPORTRANGE("URL","Sheet1!A:A"),IMPORTRANGE("URL","Sheet1!N:N"),"SELECT SUM(CASE WHEN Col1=A2 THEN Col14)=O2"))
But the equation is showing FALSE as the result when it should say TRUE. I have attached an example spreadsheet so that these equations make more sense.
I also need the equation to take into account any new information that is placed on the new spreadsheet while also comparing it with the old info. I tried doing this to start with but then slowly realized the initial equation itself doesn't work.
=SUMIF(IMPORTRANGE("URL","Sheet1!A2:A"),IMPORTRANGE("URL","Sheet1!A2"),IMPORTRANGE("URL","Sheet1!N2:N"))=IMPORTRANGE("URL","Sheet1!O2")+SUMIF(A:A,A2,N:N)=O2
Any help is appreciated.

use this formula instead of SUMIF:
=ARRAYFORMULA(IF(LEN(
IMPORTRANGE("1q1cWh58p23dcQulQ4rz6v4iiDywEFHvcrvASao61xxo","Sheet1!C2:C")),
IF(IFERROR(VLOOKUP(
IMPORTRANGE("1q1cWh58p23dcQulQ4rz6v4iiDywEFHvcrvASao61xxo","Sheet1!C2:C"),
QUERY(IMPORTRANGE("1q1cWh58p23dcQulQ4rz6v4iiDywEFHvcrvASao61xxo","Sheet1!A2:N"),
"select Col3,sum(Col14) where Col1 is not null group by Col3 label sum(Col14)''"),2,0))=
IMPORTRANGE("1q1cWh58p23dcQulQ4rz6v4iiDywEFHvcrvASao61xxo","Sheet1!O2:O"), TRUE, FALSE),))

As you can see events are planned out on a sort of calendar look.
I will be using this every day and I would like it to highlight the current date to me automatically. I've highlighted today's date manually.
Do you see any way to do this?
It does not need to be the whole column it can just be the day number and week of day on the top if it's easier.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me regarding this!
Thanks a lot.

I found this question when searching for a way to highlight a whole column/row.
Here's the way to do it:
Apply to range: A1:Z1000 (this is the range of all columns/rows including the dates)
Format cells if...: [Custom formula is]
Formula (for columns): =A$1=TODAY()
Formula (for rows): =$A1=TODAY()
The dollar sign ($) will keep the reference cell fixed. So if the formula uses A$1 it takes A1, B1, C1 etc to look for the date and then highlights the entire column A, B, C etc.
If the formula uses $A1 it takes A1, A2, A3 etc to look for the date and then highlights the entire row 1, 2, 3 etc.
Just make sure that "range" covers the entire rectangle of cells and not just one date. It's easy to adapt if your dates are in a different row/column.
Hope this helps the next person who comes here with a similar problem :)
You would have to use conditional formatting
on the column with the dates. Rule should be "Date is today". Choose a color to your likings.
