Neo4j Server doesn't connect to embedded database in Rails - ruby-on-rails

I'm trying to get a Neo4j server connected to a database embedded in a Rails project. I'm following this guide: https://github.com/andreasronge/neo4j/wiki/Neo4j%3A%3Aha-cluster The only thing different, I think, is that I'm using the 1.9.7 Neo4j community server. I am able to start the rails server and the rails console, and both work simultaneously. I can start the standalone server just fine, but I can only see the root node in the UI.
I tried to point the standalone server to one of the two embedded databases, but the server then updates the database such that the Rails application doesn't start anymore.
Please let me know if you need more specifics.
Any hints are welcome. Thanks.
Here's the standalone server's neo4j.properties
ha.server_id=3
ha.initial_hosts=localhost:5001,localhost:5002,localhost:5003
ha.server=localhost:6003
ha.cluster_server=localhost:5003
ha.pull_interval=1
allow_store_upgrade=false
keep_logical_logs=true
Here's the standalone server's neo4j-server.properties
org.neo4j.server.database.location=data/graph.db
org.neo4j.server.database.mode=HA
org.neo4j.server.webserver.port=7474

org.neo4j.server.http.log.enabled=false

These are the Noe4j and Rails related gems included in my Gemfile:
gem 'rails', '3.2.13'
gem 'neo4j', '>= 2.2.3'
gem 'neo4j-community', '1.9'
gem 'neo4j-advanced', '1.9'
gem 'neo4j-enterprise', '1.9'
In config/application.rb I added:
require "neo4j/rails/ha_console/railtie" if Rails.env.development?
config.neo4j.storage_path = "#{config.root}/db/neo4j-#{Rails.env}" unless Rails.env.development?
When I start the rails server:

Can't connect to Neo4j server locally on Ubuntu VPS

Recently I've reinstalled my VPS and have a fresh install of Neo4j on it.
I'm using putty to connect from my machine, tunneling port 7474 as I've done in the past. I'm new to Neo4j 3.2 and am getting this error when I try to connect to the server on the Neo4j browser:
N/A: WebSocket connection failure. Due to security constraints in your
web browser, the reason for the failure is not available to this Neo4j
Driver.
After trying a lot of different suggestions for sort of related topics I ended up allowing remote connections and discovered that when I access remotely eg. http://my_vps_ip:7474/browser/ I have no issues at all.
This is the output of neo4j status:

Any ideas why this might be happening?
Please ensure that public access to 7687 port is enabled in your
'neo4j.conf' file. In the latest version, it should be two line in your 'neo4j.conf':
dbms.connector.bolt.enabled=true
dbms.connector.bolt.listen_address=0.0.0.0:7687
That is because neo4j's bolt protocol takes 7687 port.
Also ensure your expose 7687 in your instance to public, if you are using AWS EC2, choose protocol to be TCP because bolt is based on TCP.
If you are using Docker/k8s, also ensure that you expose all ports(7474,7473,7687 by default) in your containers or k8s service.
There is a neo4j knowledge base article is about this exact issue.
Quote:
This error can be resolved by editing the file
$NEO4J_HOME/conf/neo4j.conf and uncommenting:
# To have Bolt accept non-local connections, uncomment this line:
dbms.connector.bolt.address=0.0.0.0:7687

Unable to load webadmin for Neo4j High Availability

I have installed 3 instances of neo4j version 1.9.4 on a linux machine, in 3 different directories: Neo4j01, neo4j02, neo4j03.
I have updated the configuration files neo4j.properties and neo4j-server.properties as mentioned in the link (http://docs.neo4j.org/chunked/milestone/ha-setup-tutorial.html).
When I start all the neo4j instances one after the other, they are successfully installing, but after some time 2 of the 3 neo4j process/instances are automatically disappearing. I noticed it via ps -aef | grep neo4j.
When I checked console logs then i found below errors:

2013-11-12 16:38:30.894+0000 DEBUG [API] Failed to start Neo Server on port [7474]
Now, only neo4j01 process is running and neo4j02 and neo4j03 processes are disappeared. But even though neo4j01 process is up and running I am unable to access the webadmin page at http://htname:7474/webadmin/#/info/org.neo4j/High%20Availability/.
Please, can someone shed some light on this?
You might want to take a look at https://github.com/neo-technology/neo4j-enterprise-local-qa. This contains a rakefile that automates a local setup of 3 instances. Clone the repo locally, and use
rake setup_cluster start_cluster
to bring a locally running cluster online. Shutdown can be done via
rake stop_cluster
Find the configs in machine[ABC]/conf/.

You will also have to specify the binding address for the jboss server. For jboss5.x, the command will be like
Jboss\jboss-5.0.1.GA\bin\run.jar -b0.0.0.0
Check your port number under /deploy/jbossweb.sar/server.xml, I think the problem is right there.
It should be like this ==>
<!-- A HTTP/1.1 Connector on port 8080 -->
<Connector protocol="HTTP/1.1" port="8080" address="${jboss.bind.address}"
maxThreads="250" strategy="ms" maxHttpHeaderSize="8192"
emptySessionPath="true"
enableLookups="false" redirectPort="8443" acceptCount="100"
connectionTimeout="20000" disableUploadTimeout="true"/>
Check the port number!
