I am trying to copy the content of one text field(say A) in TFS work item to another text field(say B) in the same work item, without deleting the exsting content of field B. I have tried all the controls but nothing has seemed useful. can someone help me here?
Thanks
Are you trying to do this on just one work item or in bulk?
If on just one work item what's stopping your from just copy/pasting as usual?
If in bulk I'd suggest using the TFS API and a little code to accomplish this.

I have an old setup with a tfs2010 and sql2008 and the current Collection is holding 3 team Projects. Now i want to create a new team project but for some reason i cant. it seems that it has something to do with the SQL Reporting that dosent excists. i get an error TF218027.
Ive been going through the setup and im wondering a bit
What exactly does the TFS use the reportServer for (MSDN dosent seem to want to tell me)
is there any way to create a Team project without the reporting
Will it damage my excisting data if i create and connect to a new sql reportServer
Hope someone will take the time to give an answer
thanks.
I have already tried the different approtaches discussed on different threads and im primarily looking for information on the 3 questions written above
Try the steps below:
In browser go to: http://application-tier/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx
Press Folder settings button in the toolbar
Press New Role Assignment button in the toolbar
Specify user name in Group or user name field, check Content Manager role and press OK.
So for the people that actually read the question the answer is.
Keeps track of agile work progress
yes and its actually easy. go to the reporting service and stop it and then tell TFS not to report under reporting
Since it was never running the answer here is No
Currently i'm trying something out with TFS 2015. I red that it should be possible to add tasks (work-items) via the browser url. This is perfect for me if it is working like I expected :)
My current url (personal items removed)
https://{myurl}/tfs/DefaultCollection/{project}/_workItems#_a=new&witd=Task&[Title]=Do
this&[Original Estimate]=1&[Remaining
Work]=1&[??????PARENT?????]={??id??}&[System.AreaPath]={project}&[System.IterationPath]={project+iteration}
So far so good it's possible to add an item via the url, but I couldn't figure out how to add the parent link to the work item!
I've tried [Node Name], [Parent], [System.NodeName], but none of them worked.
Does anyone have an idea how to create the link? Or is it not possible?
tnx in advance
Try to use [System.Linktypes] or [System.LinkTypes.Hierarchy-Reverse]
Moreover, suggest you to use REST API just as debugthings mentioned. Work Items|Rest API If you haven't already, look at the information on getting started with these APIs.
I am using jQuery UI sortable to update the order of an array stored in a container document. When the sort fires the "stop" method, it rebuilds the array and orders it based on the new DOM layout. It all works fine and the updated document reflects the proper order. HOWEVER, the dom reloads and the order is back to what it was.
When I physically refresh the page it actually shows the proper order. It's just that on-the-fly changing of the array won't just re-render itself properly.
Interestingly enough, this problem has only cropped up in 0.9.4, so it may be a bug with meteor, just not sure if there was a change that would affect what I'm trying to accomplish.
I'd provide code examples if needed, but since the code itself seems to be working properly and the each not updating to reflect the order, i'm not sure it'll help at all.
Thanks!
UPDATE
I've put together a standalone demo of the problem, listed out in my comment below:
Ok, here's a crazy example of the issue:
demo: app-9ryym2m2.meteorpad.com
source: meteorpad.com/pad/uQ42DRH95JcHtKnb9
Try doing some sorting of items to see part1 of the issue. Next, after sorting, try hitting the togglers a few times, especially within the list of items you sorted. That's part2 of the issue. Now, if you refresh the page, everything gets caught up. Wat.
Double Update
Thanks to aldeed over at Github, I've got a solution: https://github.com/meteor/meteor/issues/2944
By changing my sub-document reference key from 'id' to '_id', Blaze seems to pick up on the changes to sorting no problem!
I confess that I haven't dug into your code, but the way it is updating indicates that you are picking up the previous state rather than the updated state. Wherever you drag, the final state reflects the last place you dragged to (even though it was probably in the wrong place when you started). Perhaps an order-of-execution/async bug?
Have you seen the drag and drop demo that was put together for blaze by Avital Oliver (Meteor core dev) when the blaze rendering engine came out? You can watch a video and check out the repo. If you try the demo and it fails on the current version of Meteor, you can submit an issue there and get some support from the pros :)
I don't seem to be able to export tfs work items along with their details, is there any way to do this without using TFSIntegrationTools? (I cannot install these at my work).
Specifically I want to be able to export the Description portion of the Work Item details:

If all you need is the work item data then I would design a flat query, run it and then open it up in Excel. You can modify which columns are visible. Once open you can save it off or print or form a report in excel or what have you.
Your other options are to query the warehouse in sql server or query in code.

I had the same problem, but I could not benifit from excel, because I wanted to send the list to someone who doesn't have access to the local TFS. So I created a tool to help with that.
In case this helps any one, here is the link to download release one excutables from codeplex https://tfsworkitemsexporter.codeplex.com/
please also feel free to copy the code and edit as you like
I am using the Advanced Menu for Orchard, I have alot of duplicated content to add to multiple menus so was trying to do this directly into the database.
The problem I had was when I add items to the database the items don't show up and the CMS breaks and doesn't allow items to be added (this causes a duplicate primary key error).
Can anyone tell me why this is, and what I would need to do if I wanted to add entries manually?
Not knowing how you've tried to add them, it's hard to say. Maybe you've created part records without content item records, making them orphans? But again, I'm just guessing, as I have no idea what you tried to do.
For manual entries you might be better off using the command line utility. see http://www.orchardproject.net/docs/Using-the-command-line-interface.ashx
Or the import/export functionality (which I think just runs the command line stuff)
