Unable get response on jsp call using AFNetworking - ios

Here below is my jsp call:
NSString *strURL = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"https://xxx.com/xx/jsp/Implementation/getMyResource.jsp?uid=xxxxx"];
NSURL *urlLink = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:strURL];
NSURLRequest *urlRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:urlLink];
AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation = [[AFHTTPRequestOperation alloc] initWithRequest:urlRequest];
operation.responseSerializer = [AFXMLParserResponseSerializer serializer];
[operation setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
NSXMLParser *xmlParser = (NSXMLParser*)responseObject;
NSLog(#"%#",xmlParser);
NSError * parsedError = nil;
NSDictionary *dictUserDetails = [XMLReader dictionaryForNSXMLParser:xmlParser error:&parsedError];
if (parsedError == nil) {
NSLog(#"%#",dictUserDetails);
}
else
{
NSLog(#"wrong while parsing xml data");
}
} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *request, NSError *error){
NSLog(#"Error:------>%#", [error description]);
}];
No response at all. When i paste strURL link in web browser i get response instantly, so no problem in url.

You need to add your AFHTTPRequestOperation to the queue:
[[NSOperationQueue mainQueue] addOperation:operation];
See https://github.com/AFNetworking/AFNetworking#get-with-afhttprequestoperation

AFNetworking POST non JSON String

I am trying to create a POST request by using AFNetworking library.
[self.manager POST:url parameters:parameters success:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id response)
{
// CODE
}
failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error)
{
// CODE
}];
Is there a way to post a simple string (not a JSON one) as a request body parameters by using AFNetworking?
Yes this is how you do it:
NSString *someString = #"SomeString";
NSData* stringData = [someString dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:#"someUrlString"];
NSMutableURLRequest *request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:url
cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:20];
[request setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
[request setHTTPBody: stringData ];
AFHTTPRequestOperation *op = [[AFHTTPRequestOperation alloc] initWithRequest:request];
[op setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
//Success Block
} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
//failure Block
}];
[op start];

How to use the response object of AFHTTPRequestOperation?

I want to use the response object of AFHTTPRequestOperation outside of the success block. Here is my code below:
NSMutableArray *arr = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
NSURL *URL = [NSURL URLWithString:#"my_url"];
NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:URL];
NSURLCredential *credential = [NSURLCredential credentialWithUser:#"user" password:#"pass" persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistenceNone];
AFHTTPRequestOperation *op = [[AFHTTPRequestOperation alloc] initWithRequest:request];
[op setCredential:credential];
op.responseSerializer = [AFJSONResponseSerializer serializer];
[op setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
NSLog(#"JSON: %#", responseObject);
for(NSDictionary *item in responseObject){
[arr addObject:item];
}
} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
NSLog(#"Error: %#", error);
}];
[[NSOperationQueue mainQueue] addOperation:op];
NSLog(#"%#",arr);// here arr getting null or empty
I am getting the response object fine but if I want to use responseObject outside of the success block then object gets null.
Can anybody help me?

iOS) How to set parameter when getting response using AFHTTPRequestOperation with 'GET' method

My code is below:
NSString *urlString = [[NSString stringWithFormat:#"/players?skip=%ld",(long)skipSize] DVURL];
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:urlString];
NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url];
//[request set]
[request setValuesForKeysWithDictionary:[filter filteringDictionary]];
AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation =
[[AFHTTPRequestOperation alloc] initWithRequest:request];
operation.responseSerializer = [AFJSONResponseSerializer serializer];
[operation setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:
^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
NSLog(#"responseObject %#", responseObject);
totalPages = ([[responseObject
objectForKey:#"count"] intValue] / 20);
NSLog(#"%#",[responseObject objectForKey:#"players"]);
for (NSDictionary *playerDict in [responseObject objectForKey:#"players"]) {
DVPlayer *player = [[DVPlayer alloc] initWithDictionary:playerDict];
if (![self.playerArray.players containsObject:player]) {
[self.playerArray.players addObject:player];
}
}
[playerCollectionView reloadData];
} failure:
^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
NSLog(#"Error: %#", [error localizedDescription]);
[[[UIAlertView alloc]
initWithTitle:#"Error fetching players!"
message:#"Please try again later"
delegate:nil
cancelButtonTitle:#"OK"
otherButtonTitles:nil] show];
}];
[operation start];
When I use AFHTTPRequestOperationManager, I used NSDictionary as parameter for GET method.
So I thought [request setValuesForKeysWithDictionary:[filter filteringDictionary]]; would be corresponding.
But I got an error :
setValue:forUndefinedKey:]: this class is
not key value coding-compliant for name(ex)
I architected the parameter is NSDictionary for convenience...
Can't I set parameter as NSDictionary when using AFHTTPRequestOperation , not AFHTTPRequestOperationManager?
Help me please
AFHTTPRequestOperation takes an NSURLRequest as an init parameter. As such, you need to handle the serialization yourself, append it to your url, and then encode the url:
NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:[yourUrl stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]];
Just one more reason why AFHTTPRequestOperationManager is easier ;)

AFNetworking Success and Failure called not being made

I have this method here:
-(BOOL)User:(NSString *)user andPassWordExists:(NSString *)password
{
__block BOOL isLoggedIn = YES;
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:kIP];
NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url];
AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation = [[AFHTTPRequestOperation alloc]
initWithRequest:request];
[operation setCredential:[NSURLCredential credentialWithUser:[#"domain" stringByAppendingString:user]
password:password persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistenceForSession]];
[operation setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
isLoggedIn = YES;
} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
isLoggedIn = NO;
}];
[operation start];
return isLoggedIn;
}
I get no errors, but when I put brake points on success and failure and neither one of them are getting hit. I know the URL is correct and I can see the creds being passed in, I dont know what the issue is ?
UPDATE
I have changed my code to this:
-(void)User:(NSString *)user andPassWordExists:(NSString *)password completionHandler:(void (^)(NSArray *resultsObject, NSError *error))completionHandler
{
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:kIP];
NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url];
AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation = [[AFHTTPRequestOperation alloc]
initWithRequest:request];
[operation setCredential:[NSURLCredential credentialWithUser:[#"domain" stringByAppendingString:user]
password:password persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistenceForSession]];
operation.responseSerializer = [AFJSONResponseSerializer serializer];
[[NSOperationQueue mainQueue] addOperation:operation];
[operation setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
}];
[operation start];
}
Now I need to add this is my code:
[self fetchDataWithCompletionHandler:^(id responseObject, NSError *error) {
if (responseObject) {
}
}];
but when I do, I get this error:
Use of undeclared identifier 'self'
I guess this where I am confused because this how I would call this method from another method:
- (void)Login
{
NSString *rawString = [self.idTextField text];
NSCharacterSet *whitespace = [NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet];
[self.idTextField setText:[rawString stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:whitespace]];
BOOL *isAuthenticated = [userName User:self.idTextField.text andPassWordExists:self.passwordTextField.text];
if(isAuthenticated != 0){
[self.idTextField removeFromSuperview];
[self.passwordTextField removeFromSuperview];
[self.loginButton removeFromSuperview];
self.idTextField = nil;
self.passwordTextField = nil;
self.loginButton = nil;
[self CreateMenu];
}else{
[self CustomAlert:#"Sorry Login Failed, User and/or Passsword Incorrect"];
}
[indicatorView stopAnimating];
[indicatorView removeFromSuperview];
indicatorView = nil;
[loadingView removeFromSuperview];
loadingView = nil;
}
So inside this:
[self fetchDataWithCompletionHandler:^(id responseObject, NSError *error) {
if (responseObject) {
}
}];
would I want to either return true or false and my Login method would still work?
UPDATE
I have updated my method to this:
-(void)User:(NSString *)user andPassWordExists:(NSString *)password completionHandler:(void (^)(NSArray *resultsObject, NSError *error))completionHandler
{
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:kIP];
NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url];
AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation = [[AFHTTPRequestOperation alloc]
initWithRequest:request];
[operation setCredential:[NSURLCredential credentialWithUser:[#"domain" stringByAppendingString:user]
password:password persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistenceForSession]];
operation.responseSerializer = [AFJSONResponseSerializer serializer];
[[NSOperationQueue mainQueue] addOperation:operation];
[operation setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
if (completionHandler) {
completionHandler(responseObject, nil);
}
} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
if (completionHandler) {
completionHandler(nil, error);
}
}];
[operation start];
[self User:^(id responseObject, NSError *error) {
if (responseObject) {
return true;
}
}];
}
Two things wrong here....
I get an error at the end of my fetchDataWithCompletionHandler code:
/Users/jsuske/Documents/SSiPad(Device Only)ios7/SchedulingiPadApplication/Classes/LHJSonData.m:237:5: Control may reach end of non-void block
and I get this warning:
/Users/jsuske/Documents/SSiPad(Device Only)ios7/SchedulingiPadApplication/Classes/LHJSonData.m:233:11: Instance method '-fetchDataWithCompletionHandler:' not found (return type defaults to 'id')
Am I getting close?
This is an excellent start. I might suggest
changing the closure to simply be BOOL;
eliminate starting the operation until you're done configuring everything (and either call start or add it to a queue, but not both); and
eliminate the call to user at the end.
Thus
- (void)verifyUserid:(NSString *)user password:(NSString *)password completionHandler:(void (^)(BOOL success, NSError *error))completionHandler
{
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:kIP];
NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url];
AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation = [[AFHTTPRequestOperation alloc] initWithRequest:request];
[operation setCredential:[NSURLCredential credentialWithUser:[#"domain" stringByAppendingString:user]
password:password persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistenceForSession]];
operation.responseSerializer = [AFJSONResponseSerializer serializer];
[operation setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
if (completionHandler) {
completionHandler(TRUE, nil);
}
} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
if (completionHandler) {
completionHandler(FALSE, error);
}
}];
[operation start];
}
I've also changed the method name to conform to Cocoa conventions (start with verb, method names always begin with lowercase letter), but that's more a stylistic matter than anything else.
Now you can call this method with something like:
[self verifyUserid:user password:password completionHandler:^(BOOL success, NSError* error) {
if (success) {
// userid/password ok; do anything related to successful login here
} else {
// not ok
}
}];
// note, we're not logged in yet (the above completion block is called later),
// so don't assume we're logged in or not here

Afnetworking 2 with parameters

i am really new to IOS developments..i just want to get some JSON response from my web service. when i searched about it i found AFnetworking is good for that. so i downloaded it and did a sample application. but i need to pass some parameters to the service . my service takes two parameters [username and password]. my url like this
http://myweb.mobile.com/WebServices/AppointmentService.asmx/GetValidUser
can anyone please give me some code sample how to pass my parameters to this service to get json response ?
i have tried this code.. but it wont take parameters.. some people telling about AFHTTPClient.. but im using AFN 2.0.. there is no class call AFHTTPCLient here .. i'm so conduced here....please help me
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:#"https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/place/textsearch/json?query=restuarants+in+sydney&sensor=false&key=AIzaSyDn9a-EvJ875yMxZeINmUP7CwbO9YT1w2s"];
NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url];
// 2
AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation = [[AFHTTPRequestOperation alloc] initWithRequest:request];
operation.responseSerializer = [AFJSONResponseSerializer serializer];
[operation setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
// 3
self.googlePlaces = [responseObject objectForKey:#"results"];
[self.tableView reloadData];
// NSLog(#"JSON RESULT %#", responseObject);
self.weather = (NSDictionary *)responseObject;
self.title = #"JSON Retrieved";
[self.tableView reloadData];
} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
// 4
UIAlertView *alertView = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:#"Error Retrieving Weather"
message:[error localizedDescription]
delegate:nil
cancelButtonTitle:#"Ok"
otherButtonTitles:nil];
[alertView show];
}];
// 5
[operation start];
EDIT :
i have sloved my problem using below code segments...
NSDictionary *parameters = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:#"47", #"caregiverPersonId", nil];
AFSecurityPolicy *policy = [[AFSecurityPolicy alloc] init];
[policy setAllowInvalidCertificates:YES];
AFHTTPRequestOperationManager *operationManager = [AFHTTPRequestOperationManager manager];
[operationManager setSecurityPolicy:policy];
operationManager.requestSerializer = [AFJSONRequestSerializer serializer];
operationManager.responseSerializer = [AFJSONResponseSerializer serializer];
[operationManager POST:#"your full url goes here"
parameters:parameters
success:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
NSLog(#"JSON: %#", [responseObject description]);
}
failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
NSLog(#"Error: %#", [error description]);
}
];
Try this
-(void)login
{
NSMutableDictionary *dict=[[NSMutableDictionary alloc]initWithCapacity:3];
[dict setObject:_usernameTextField.text forKey:#"userName"];
[dict setObject:_passwordTextField.text forKey:#"password"];
AFHTTPClient *client=[[AFHTTPClient alloc]initWithBaseURL:[NSURL URLWithString:#""]];
[client registerHTTPOperationClass:[AFJSONRequestOperation class]];
[client setDefaultHeader:#"Accept" value:#"application/json"];
client.parameterEncoding = AFJSONParameterEncoding;
[client postPath:#"GetValidUser" parameters:dict success:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject)
{
NSDictionary *op=(NSDictionary *)responseObject;
NSLog(#"%#",op);
}
failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
UIAlertView *alert=[[UIAlertView alloc]initWithTitle:MESSAGE_EN message:#"Unable to login. Please try again." delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:OK_EN otherButtonTitles:nil, nil];
[alert show];
NSLog(#"error.localizedDescription %#",error.localizedDescription);
}];
}
Note : Please do fill the fields with proper values and try.
dict is the Input postdata
I got this one from somewhere in SO question. See this:
- (IBAction)loginButtonPressed {
NSURL *baseURL = [NSURL URLWithString:#"http://myweb.mobile.com/WebServices/AppointmentService.asmx"];
//build normal NSMutableURLRequest objects
//make sure to setHTTPMethod to "POST".
//from https://github.com/AFNetworking/AFNetworking
AFHTTPClient *httpClient = [[AFHTTPClient alloc] initWithBaseURL:baseURL];
[httpClient defaultValueForHeader:#"Accept"];
NSDictionary *params = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:
[usernameTextField text], kUsernameField,
[passwordTextField text], kPasswordField,
nil];
NSMutableURLRequest *request = [httpClient requestWithMethod:#"POST"
path:#"http://myweb.mobile.com/WebServices/AppointmentService.asmx/GetValidUser" parameters:params];
//Add your request object to an AFHTTPRequestOperation
AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation = [[[AFHTTPRequestOperation alloc]
initWithRequest:request] autorelease];
//"Why don't I get JSON / XML / Property List in my HTTP client callbacks?"
//see: https://github.com/AFNetworking/AFNetworking/wiki/AFNetworking-FAQ
//mattt's suggestion http://stackoverflow.com/a/9931815/1004227 -
//-still didn't prevent me from receiving plist data
//[httpClient registerHTTPOperationClass:
// [AFPropertyListParameterEncoding class]];
[httpClient registerHTTPOperationClass:[AFHTTPRequestOperation class]];
[operation setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:
^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation,
id responseObject) {
NSString *response = [operation responseString];
NSLog(#"response: [%#]",response);
} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
NSLog(#"error: %#", [operation error]);
}];
//call start on your request operation
[operation start];
[httpClient release];
}
Hope this helps .. :)
EDIT
AFHTTPRequestOperationManager *manager = [AFHTTPRequestOperationManager manager];
[manager POST:URLString parameters:nil constructingBodyWithBlock:^(id<AFMultipartFormData> formData) {
[formData appendPartWithFormData:[email dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]
name:#"email"];
[formData appendPartWithFormData:[pass dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]
name:#"password"];
// etc.
} success:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {
NSLog(#"Response: %#", responseObject);
} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {
NSLog(#"Error: %#", error);
}];
Use below code
NSDictionary *paramDictionary = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:#"first_Object",#"first_Key",#"second_Object",#"second_Key" nil];
AFHTTPRequestOperationManager *manager = [AFHTTPRequestOperationManager manager];
[manager POST:#"YOUR_URL_STRING" parameters:paramDictionary success:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, id responseObject) {Success responce} failure:^(AFHTTPRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) {failure responce}];
if you want you can set
manager.responseSerializer = [AFJSONResponseSerializer serializer];
manager.requestSerializer = [AFJSONRequestSerializer serializer];
manager.securityPolicy.allowInvalidCertificates = YES;
