I'm looking for suggestions on how to make the jQuery UI Autocomplete suggestions read out in a screen reader as the user is arrowing through them. I notice that the textbox itself doesn't lose focus, so the reader simply reads it's contents over and over. Based on my requirements, I cannot have the textbox value change when a suggestion is arrow'd to.
Thanks very much in advance!

Is there a simpler way to do tool tip text when ever I hover thru the following button in Google App Maker?
Go to the Other section of the Property Editor. The title field should give you what you need.
This works well. I know there is a way to inject JQuery into the AppMaker, and from there its just determining when the DOM is loaded and you can modify the element with a script.
Hei guys.
I'm trying to add additional HTML elements below search box.. like checkboxes for filtering purposes.
But the added checkbox is not functional, you can't actually check it. I'm not sure but I think that search box is taking the focus from them... I created this jsFiddle so you guys can check it out.
http://jsfiddle.net/6wz2hLh0/
$("#e1").select2();
//Inserting additional HTML elements below search... filter in my case
$(".select2-search").after("<input type='checkbox'/>");
When the dropdown is open you can't even write in jsFiddle input's.
I tried commenting out various focus calls from source code with no luck.
Can any one point me in to right direction in source code what is causing this non stop search box focussing.
One thing to try is to have the checkbox element stop the mouse events from propagating. That seems to prevent them from getting to Select2, so Select2 cannot kill them.
$("<input type='checkbox'/>")
.insertAfter(".select2-search")
.on('mousedown mouseup click', function(e) { e.stopPropagation(); });

My guess is that this is because Select2 kills (stops propagation and prevents default) most events that occur within the dropdown. This is so Select2 doesn't leak events, but it also causes problems like not being able to catch click events or embed links.
When the dropdown is open you can't even write in jsFiddle input's.
This is because Select2 uses a mask that captures all events outside of the dropdown.

You are going to want to look through the source for killEvent, as this is the method Select2 uses that kills events. As most browsers listen for the click event for native controls, you probably want to remove this killEvent for dropdown clicks.
Background/Context:
I am developing touch screen based kiosk application with JavaFX. The app integrates browser – WebView. The problem is that all user inputs have to be made through on screen keyboard (SW keyboard)
It would be nice to have an option to register an event-handler on WebView/WebEngine for any HTML text input element got/lost focus, so that I could show/hide on-screen-keyboard.
Even though I searched the Internet, I did not find this kind of feature.
My questions:
Does JavaFX / WebView provides any support for these cases?
If you were to tackle this problem, what would be your approach to that?
My solution so far:
I have a small button (at one corner of the screen) that allows user to show/hide on-screen-keyboard. Since they have to do that manually, it is quite annoying. Especially on sites where browsing (consuming information) and text inputs changes frequently.
It would be nice to have an option to register an event-handler on WebView/WebEngine for any HTML text input element got/lost focus, so that I could show/hide on-screen-keyboard.
A potential strategy for doing this:
Start with a jdk8 preview.
Run the application with -Dcom.sun.javafx.isEmbedded=true to enable the virtual keyboard.
Use a webengine.executeScript technique to embed jQuery into the target page.
Bind a jQuery focus handler to the relevant html elements.
In the jQuery focus handler make an Upcall from JavaScript to Java.
Upon receiving the upcall make use of JavaFX's Virtual Keyboard.
As the user enters values into the keyboard, make executeScript calls to set the value of the corresponding html field.
Some parts will likely be a bit (or totally) flaky, but perhaps other parts may prove useful to you.
In the future, if WebView is supported on touchscreen platforms on embedded devices, I'm guessing that out of the box it will work well with a virtual keyboard.
SO I have a select box that I fill dynamically. I discovered that once the SELECT gets longer than the page, it automatically becomes a dialog listview.... which is TERRIBLE!
When this happens, the page refreshes when the dialog is closed and my whole page starts over....
Has anyone experienced that and do you know how to shut it off?
Thanks!
Todd
You could use the native look and feel?
http://jquerymobile.com/demos/1.0.1/docs/forms/forms-all-native.html
Native form elements & buttons Although the framework automatically enhances form elements and buttons into touch input
optimized controls to streamline development, it's easy to tell jQuery
Mobile to leave these elements alone so the standard, native control
can be used instead.
Adding the data-role="none" attribute to any form or button element
tells the framework to not apply any enhanced styles or scripting. The
examples below all have this attribute in place to demonstrate the
effect. You may need to write custom styles to lay out your form
controls because we try to leave all the default styling intact.
I need modal dialog box in which I can open forms and other html pages. It should have on/off and min/max button. Could anybody suggest me any link for the same. I am not getting this type of widget anywhere.
The JQuery plugin SimpleModal is pretty effective. I have used it before and am quite sure it should provide the functionality you require.
