Customize UISearchBar Results Cell - ios

I'm trying to display a custom UISearchBar Results Cell. I created a custom UITableViewCell to display the information but I want to customize the UISearchBar results.
I have this code in my class:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"PodsCell";
LinhaPod *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil)
{
cell = [[LinhaPod alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
}
if (isSearching && [self.searchResults count])
{
NSString *texto = [self.searchResults objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
NSArray *arrTexto = [texto componentsSeparatedByString:#"#"];
cell.titulo.text = arrTexto[6];
cell.dataPod.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%# - %#", arrTexto[1], [arrTexto[3] stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:#"." withString:#"'"]];
[cell setAccessoryType: UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator];
}
return cell;
}
This code is not working. I tested with "cell.textLabel.text = #"test";" and worked.
I'm using Search Bar and Search Display Controller.
This is my UITableViewCell

Have you added the UILabels to your UITableViewCell ? Your initWithStyle in LinhaPod.m should look like this snippet below. (Assuming your are not using a xib file for this custom cell)
- (id)initWithStyle:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier
{
self = [super initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier];
if (self) {
_dataPod = [[UILabel alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 160, 44)];
[self addSubview:_dataPod];
_titulo = [[UILabel alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(160, 0, 160, 44)];
[self addSubview:_titulo];
}
return self;
}
Of course, in your LinhaPod.h you would also have
#interface LinhaPod : UITableViewCell
#property(nonatomic) UILabel *titulo;
#property(nonatomic) UILabel *dataPod;

- (void)searchDisplayController:(UISearchDisplayController *)controller willShowSearchResultsTableView:(UITableView *)tableView
{
[tableView registerClass:[MCSelectCategoryTableViewCell_iPhone class] forCellReuseIdentifier:#"selectCategoryCell"];
}
If you want to use a custom cell in the tableView of the searchDisplayController you could register any of the UITableView subclasses of your storyBoard by registering it like this in the searchDisplayController.searchDisplayTableView.

UITableViewCell Separator disappearing in iOS9

I've created a custom UITableViewCell and i need a bottom line separator for each cell then i put the separator in init method of my custom tableViewCell
This is my TableView code :
#import "Telegram_TableViewController.h"
#import "Custom_TableViewCell.h"
#interface Telegram_TableViewController ()
#end
#implementation Telegram_TableViewController
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[super viewDidLoad];
self.array =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
for (int i=0; i<200; i++) {
[self.array addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"item %i" ,i]];
}
}
- (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning {
[super didReceiveMemoryWarning];
}
- (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView {
return 1;
}
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section {
return [self.array count] ;
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
NSString *Identifier = #"CELL";
Custom_TableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:Identifier];
cell = [[Custom_TableViewCell alloc] init];
UILabel *txt = [[UILabel alloc]init];
txt.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"Item " ] ;
cell.textLabel.text = [self.array objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
return cell;
}
and my custom TableViewCell code :
#import "Custom_TableViewCell.h"
#implementation Custom_TableViewCell
- (void)awakeFromNib {
// Initialization code
}
- (void)setSelected:(BOOL)selected animated:(BOOL)animated {
[super setSelected:selected animated:animated];
// Configure the view for the selected state
}
-(id)init
{
self = [super init];
if (self) {
UIEdgeInsets insets = self.separatorInset;
self.separatorInset = UIEdgeInsetsMake(0.0, 0.0,insets.bottom + 6.0, 0.0);
self.separatorInset = insets;
}
return self;
}
There is no error but it doesn't work. How can i fix it?
Thanks in advance.
Clean init method in Custom_TableViewCell and see if this helps.
In Telegram_TableViewController:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
NSString *Identifier = #"CELL";
Custom_TableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:Identifier];
cell = [[Custom_TableViewCell alloc] init];
UILabel *txt = [[UILabel alloc]init];
txt.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"Item " ] ;
cell.textLabel.text = [self.array objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
[tableView setSeparatorStyle:UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleSingleLine];
[tableView setSeparatorColor:[UIColor blackColor]];
return cell;
}
And make sure the color of the separator is different than the color of the cell itself.
Use this code in your cell,s .h file
#property (nonatomic,strong) UIView* cellSeperatorView;
and in .m file
-(UIView *)cellSeperatorView{
if (!cellSeperatorView) {
self.cellSeperatorView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero];
[self.cellSeperatorView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor lightGrayColor]];
[self addSubview:self.cellSeperatorView];
}
return cellSeperatorView;
}
-(void)prepareForReuse{
self.cellSeperatorView = nil;
}
-(void)layoutSubviews{
[super layoutSubviews];
[self.cellSeperatorView setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 500, 1)];
}
and call this method in your tableview class in - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)..
UITableViewCellClass *cell = (UITableViewCellClass *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:simpleTableIdentifier];
if (!cell) {
cell = [[UITableViewCellClass alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:simpleTableIdentifier];
}
cell.cellSeperatorView.hidden = (indexPath.row == ([self.yourtableViewArray numberOfRowsInSection:indexPath.section]));
and in you viewdidload method add this
[self.yourtableView setSeparatorStyle:UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleNone];
i think this can help you for making separator..
You'd better register in the method viewDidLoad when you want to custom cell. [self.tableView registerClass:[Custom_TableViewCell class] forCellReuseIdentifier:Identifier];
What is cell = [[Custom_TableViewCell alloc] init];? You are not reusing the cell, but initiate every time. Just do not write this line.
The right way to overwrite the init method of tableViewCell to is rewrite - (instancetype)initWithStyle:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier
Now you can see the tableView correctly, but I do not understand a bottom line separator, just write what you want in the method initWithStyle.

Collapsable Cell

I have a UITableView with two different custom table cells. The first cell appears normal after I start the app. The second cell will appear when you click on them.
Can anybody help me or has an idea?
Thanks a lot.
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
static NSString *MyIdentifier = #"customCell2";
CustomCell *cell = (CustomCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:MyIdentifier];
if(cell == nil){
NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:#"CustomCell" owner:self options:nil];
cell = [nib objectAtIndex:0];
cell.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
cell.textLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
cell.textLabel.textColor = [UIColor grayColor];
cell.textLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:#"STHeitiSC-Light" size:9.0];
}
return cell;
}
Having done custom UITableViewCell in the past I usually handle the nib loading in the custom class itself.
The basic header for the custom cell.
#interface RequestsTableViewCell : UITableViewCell {
// Ivars.
}
// Properties.
- (id) initWithRequestModel: (RequestModel *) model style:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier forQueryType:(int) requestType;
// Other methods, etc.
#end
The custom cell with a designated initializer.
#implementation RequestsTableViewCell
- (id) initWithRequestModel: (RequestModel *) model style:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier forQueryType:(int) requestType {
self = [super initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier];
if (self) {
NSArray *nibArray = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:#"RequestsTableViewCell" owner:self options:nil];
self = [nibArray objectAtIndex:0];
requestModel = model;
queryType = requestType;
[self setRequestThumbnail];
[self setRequestCategory];
[self setRequestAddress];
[self setRequestStatusDate];
[self setRequestStatus];
[self setRequestFollowed];
[self setRequestComment];
[self setAppearance];
}
return self;
}
There would also be a custom xib for the custom UITableViewCell that corresponds and has the custom class set in the identity inspector.
In the UITableViewController.
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *cellId = #"Cell Id";
RequestModel *request = nil;
// Other code for search, etc
request = [self.serviceRequests objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
RequestsTableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:cellId];
if(!cell) {
cell = [[RequestsTableViewCell alloc] initWithRequestModel:request style:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:cellId forQueryType:queryTypeIndicator];
}
return cell;
}
It also sounds like you have more than one custom cell type in your question? Can you elaborate on how it is all supposed to function? You say that you have to click one cell to make another appear, can you explain that interaction?
I did something similar, but made the cell 'expand', instead of adding a new cell. Of course then you don't have two cells, but you can resize your one cell, add subframes,...
You can keep a boolean in your UITableViewCell object (BOOL cellIsExpanded), and set that on tap gesture. Then in drawRect of the TableViewCell, layout your cell accordingly.
Example code, on expand, make cell height 20-->80 and add a UIButton:
In the TableViewController, overload heightForRowAtIndexPath (this will resize your cell if 'expanded'):
- (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
YourEntity *record = [self.fetchedResultsController objectAtIndexPath:indexPath];
if (!record.cellIsExpanded)
return 20.; // cell is smaller if collapsed
else
return 80.; // bigger cell
}
In the TableViewCell, add or remove subframes:
#interface MyTableViewCell ()
#property(nonatomic) BOOL cellIsExpanded
#property(strong, nonatomic) UITextField *myTextField;
#property(strong, nonatomic) UIButton *clickMeButton;
#end
#implementation MyTableViewCell
- (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect {
if(!self.cellIsExpanded){
// layout your collapsed cell, for example:
self.myTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:self.frame];
self.myTextField.text = #"Collapsed cell";
// remove button, only present in expanded view :
self.clickMeButton=nil;
}
else{
self.myTextField.text = #"Expanded cell";
// add button below textfield
self.clickMeButton = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(20, 20, 10, 10)];
}
}
#end

how can i display UITextfields inside of UITableviewcells if user click the "+" Button in UIView

I have one "+" button in UIView. My requirement is, if i click that button UITextFields displayed in UITableViewCells. I am having idea how to display the UITextFields in UIView if user clicks the "+" button. But i dont have any idea how to display UITextFields inside of UITableViewCells if user hits the "+" button. Please kindly help me anybody. Yesterday i strucked with this functionality. I tried some code. But it is not worked properly. But i had not found any solution. Thanks in advance.
UIButton *myGreenIconButton1 = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[myGreenIconButton1 addTarget:self action:#selector(GreenIconButtonClicked)forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[myGreenIconButton1 setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"index.jpg"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
myGreenIconButton1.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
myGreenIconButton1.frame = CGRectMake(285, 144, 25, 25);
[self.view addSubview:myGreenIconButton1];
-(void)GreenIconButtonClicked
{
view=[[UIView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 80, 300, 20)];
text1=[[UITextField alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10, 80, 100, 20)];
text1.borderStyle=UITextBorderStyleRoundedRect;
text1.backgroundColor=[UIColor clearColor];
text1.backgroundColor=[UIColor colorWithRed:0.662745 green:0.662745 blue:0.662745 alpha:0.5];
text1.font=[UIFont systemFontOfSize:14.0];
text1.contentVerticalAlignment=UIControlContentVerticalAlignmentCenter;
text1.textAlignment=NSTextAlignmentCenter;
text1.delegate=self;
[view addSubview:text1];
text2=[[UITextField alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(120, 80, 100, 20)];
text2.borderStyle=UITextBorderStyleRoundedRect;
text2.backgroundColor=[UIColor clearColor];
text2.backgroundColor=[UIColor colorWithRed:0.662745 green:0.662745 blue:0.662745 alpha:0.5];
text2.font=[UIFont systemFontOfSize:14.0];
text2.contentVerticalAlignment=UIControlContentVerticalAlignmentCenter;
text2.textAlignment=NSTextAlignmentCenter;
text2.delegate=self;
[view addSubview:text2];
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *cellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:cellIdentifier];
if (!cell)
{
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:cellIdentifier];
}
[cell.textLabel setText:#""];
[view setTag:101];
NSIndexPath *ip = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:0 inSection:0];
UITableViewCell *cell1 = [self.tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:ip];
UITextField *textField = (UITextField*)[cell1 viewWithTag:101];
UITextField *textField1=(UITextField*)[cell1 viewWithTag:101];
UITextField *textField2=(UITextField*)[cell1 viewWithTag:101];
[cell.contentView addSubview:text1];
[cell.contentView addSubview:text2];
[cell.contentView addSubview:text3];
return cell;
}
I have created a example for your requirement and posted it on github. You can find code Here
I have created a custom table view cell with text field on it.
First create custom cell with xib or without and do following manner its working for you :
CustomCell.h
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#interface CustomCell : UITableViewCell {
}
#property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *textField;
#end
CustomCell.m
#import "CustomCell.h"
#implementation CustomCell
#synthesize textField;
- (id)initWithStyle:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier
{
self = [super initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier];
if (self) {
// Initialization code
self.textField = [[UITextField alloc] init];
[self.contentView addSubview:self.textField];
}
return self;
}
- (void)setSelected:(BOOL)selected animated:(BOOL)animated
{
[super setSelected:selected animated:animated];
// Configure the view for the selected state
}
Your TableView .h
#property (strong,nonatomic) NSMutableArray *array;
#property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITableView *tblView;
Your Table View .m
#synthesize array;
#synthesize tblView;
-(void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated {
array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
[tblView reloadData];
}
-(int)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView
{
if( [array count ] > 0 )
{
return 1;
}
return 0;
}
-(int)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
if( [array count ] > 0 )
{
return [array Count];
}
return 0;
}
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSString *cellIdentifier = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"CustomCell%d%d",indexPath.row,indexPath.section];
[tblCreateProfile registerNib:[UINib nibWithNibName:#"CustomCell" bundle:nil] forCellReuseIdentifier:cellIdentifier];
CustomCell *cell = (CustomCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:cellIdentifier forIndexPath:indexPath];
if(cell == nil)
{
cell = [[CustomCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:cellIdentifier];
}
cellIdentifier =nil;
cell.textField.text = [array objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
return cell;
}
-(void)GreenIconButtonClicked
{
[array addObject:#"Test"];
[tblView reloadData];
}
So just try in Custom TableViewCells. So that You can Achieve the solution for this problem.

I am unable to set a label in TableViewCell

I'm just trying to test out the custom cell by have all the cells in the table say "Hi", but it won't work... the cells are all blank. It seems that the TheCell class is called before I can set the label text... I don't know how else to do it.
TheCell.h
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#interface TheCell : UITableViewCell
#property (nonatomic, strong) IBOutlet UILabel *arrivalLabel;
#end
TheCell.m
- (id)initWithStyle:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier
{
self = [super initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier];
if (self) {
self.arrivalLabel.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 30);
[self.contentView addSubview:self.arrivalLabel];
}
return self;
}
TableViewController.m
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"anIdentifier";
TheCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
cell = [[TheCell alloc] init];
cell.arrivalLabel.text = #"hi";
return cell;
}
You have a few issues. You are calling the init method of your cell class. You should be calling the initWithStyle:reuseIdentifier: method instead.
You should also only allocate the cell if the call to dequeue... returns nil.
Then you need to make sure that your cell's initWithStyle:reuseIdentifier: method is creating the label instance for the arrivalLabel property.
TheCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (!cell) {
cell = [[TheCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
}
cell.arrivalLabel.text = #"hi";
The other big problem is in your cell's initWithStyle:reuseIdentifier: method. You never create the label.
- (id)initWithStyle:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier {
self = [super initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier];
if (self) {
_arrivalLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 30)];
[self.contentView addSubview:_arrivalLabel];
}
return self;
}
This is not correct:
TheCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
cell = [[TheCell alloc] init];
You have to do something like:
TheCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (!cell) {
cell = [[TheCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
}

How to read data from UITextField located in custom UITableView

First of all I know there are several more titles looks like same. I have checked them but what I ask is a specific problem.
What I want to do: Created Login table which includes email and password. UITextfields in UITableView. Just want to take those data into some NSString variable pointers for further process.
I have a Custom Cell Class named CustomCell, as below:
#import "CustomCell.h"
#import "QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h"
#implementation CustomCell
#synthesize textfield;
- (id)initWithStyle:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier {
self = [super initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier];
if (self) {
textfield = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(5, 7, 160, 20)];
textfield.textColor = [UIColor blackColor];
textfield.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:14];
[self.contentView addSubview:textfield];
}
return self;
}
- (void)setSelected:(BOOL)selected animated:(BOOL)animated {
[super setSelected:NO animated:NO];
// Configure the view for the selected state.
}
- (void)dealloc {
[super dealloc];
}
#end
And I have ViewController where I use the custom table below you may see my tableView cellForRowAtIndex method.
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
[tableView.layer setCornerRadius:10.0];
CustomCell *cell = (CustomCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[[CustomCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease];}
switch (indexPath.row) {
case 0:
cell.textfield.placeholder = #"Email";
break;
case 1:
cell.textfield.placeholder = #"Password";
cell.textfield.tag = 0;
break;
}
return cell;
}
And lastly below in same class I am trying to read email & password with
NSIndexPath *indexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:1 inSection:0];
CustomCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath]; // ERROR!!!
NSString *userpassword = cell.textfield.text;
Error: Unknown receiver type tableView:
Attention in same line:
ClassMethod +cellforrowatindexpath not found return type defaults to id.
Did you see what I am doing wrong?
NSIndexPath *indexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:1 inSection:0];
CustomCell *cell = (CustomCell *)[tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath]; // Add This instead
NSString *userpassword = cell.textfield.text;
Yu can't use tableView outside the datasource and delegate methods. What's the name of your tableview in your interface definition? Use that one.
Is your ViewController inheriting UIView or UITableViewController? This is assuming you are calling tableView on the same controller as the Table View.
