I have Xcode 5.0.2 but somehow I don't have iOS 7.0.4 in the simulator.
I did not find any updates and it looks like everything is up to date.
Who do I get to debug a iPhone with iOS 7.0.4 in the simulator?
I guess this image would solve all your queries.
Image Source:- https://developer.apple.com/downloads/index.action (require login). In short, Xcode 5.0.2 comes with support of iOS 7.0.3(or below).Note:- In iOS, we have Simulator, not emulator. Emulator is for Android.
The simulator is not that granular when it comes to iOS versions as far as I've been able to tell. You shouldn't depend on it behaving properly anyhow, it is very different from devices in a lot of senses.

Sorry if this seems like a basic question, but I cant seem to find any info about this and I am new to developing for ios :\
I tried building a unity project in the new beta xcode 6.1.2 for ios 8.2 and got over 200 errors...
Reverted to xcodde 6.1 for ios 8.1 and everything works fine.
Just wondering, in general if an app is built with a target of ios 8.1 would it have to be rebuilt later on for 8.2 once it comes out, or will it just automatically work on 8.2 devices
Yes, it will work. You do not need to rebuild you app in order to support newer OS versions.
I have the latest xcode , Included iOS SDK: iOS 7.1 I but the app rejected cause it doesn't work with IOS 7.1.2
any idea how to upgrade the simulator to test on it
You could try checking for updates on your simulator, although I am not sure if there was one for 7.1.2
Why not test on a device though? You should be doing that anyway.
I am implementing the do-not-backup attribute for my app for iOS 5.0.1 and above. And as Apple suggests, there is a different way to set the key for iOS 5.1 and above.
I can test it for iOS 5.1 and above (that nothing is crashing) with the simulators available but hoe to test for 5.0.1??
No,I don't think you can get 5.0.1 simulator. The best thing would be testing your app in a iOS 5.0.1 device.
I changed a while ago from Xcode 3 to Xcode 4.2 for Snow Leopard. Everything was fine, I developed apps for iPhone and all was going smoothly until today...
I got alert:
The version of iOS on “iPhone Prophone” does not match any of the versions of iOS supported for development with this installation of the iOS SDK. Please restore the device to a version of the OS listed below, or update to the latest version of the iOS SDK; which is available here.
Which is strange, because yesterday I was able with simple "run" test my app aimed for iOS 5.0 (Xcode target 5.0, 4C199) with my iPhone 4S, which has iOS 5.1.1 (9B206) for quite some time. In Organizer->Devices my iPhone has a yellow dot suggesting that something is wrong. I don't think I did something unexpected, just came, turned mac on and fired up Xcode... any solution?
I've read that, but as I said - I was using new Xcode for few weeks and suddenly this "non-detection" happened...
I'm stuck, thanks for help.
EDIT:
I found something relevant in this topic on SO, but I'll wait a bit - maybe there is something simpler or more obvious that I missed.
I managed to solve the problem, by:
1) downloading xcode 4.3.1
2) copying from package content SDK & Device Support for iOS 5.1 into Xcode directories
3) run and test on your device
solution found here: iOS 5.1 with Xcode 4.2 and retina in iPad 3
I have build the app using Xcode 4.2.1 and iOS 5.0 SDK target, now i am have iOS 5.1 in my iPad device, what i have to know is, if i upgrade my device to iOS 5.1.1, will my app work. I just googled it, but i can't find solution. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Yes it will work, it will also work on any ios in the future (ios 6+ etc..)
Please check my answer here Will my app work with a new iOS?
If you're talking of deployment for testing, you need at least Xcode 4.3 (for Lion only) to be able to run your app on a device on iOS 5.1
I have tested my app build with Xcode 4.2.1 and 5.1 deployment target, now i can work the app in iOS 5.1.1 installed device.
Note :
Make sure your Xcode have iOS 5.1 SDK Frameworks support.
