Container UIView alignment to the bottom - ios

I'm trying to aligning a container UIView to the bottom of the screen in such a way it always is at the bottom of any device whatever the resolution or height is but I can't figure out how to do this via the storyboard.
Any insight is appreciated. Thanks a lot!!!

You have to make a vertical constraint between your view and its container view with a constant of your desired space between the views.
One way via IB is to CTRL-Drag from your view to the container view and select bottom space to bottom layout guide.
Make sure to check the constant after creating the layout constraint to have the correct value since ib will use the current distance for the two views.

Use autolayout (official documentation), or you can do this:
// Assuming you want to move a UIView *foo
CGFloat screenHeight = [[[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds] size] height];
CGRect newFrame = foo.frame;
newFrame.origin.y = screenHeight - foo.frame.size.height;
foo.frame = newFrame;
With autolayout:
In this picture, in the top most part of the pop up dialog, the drop down menus with the numbers will let you choose what to set the constraint relative too. Try this.

Adding subview to scrollview

I'm trying to add a subview to a scrollview I have in my view controller:

It works to the extent that it adds it in the correct position and height I want it. But for some reason, right now it only expands to about 60% the width of the screen (I need it to be full screen).
Things I've tried
1) Setting it so self.view.frame.width
2) Setting it to the width of another full screen element.
3) Setting it to UIScreen.mainScreen().bounds
I checked the constraints of the scrollview in storyboard and it's configured to be full screen...so I'm not sure why this wont work.
This issue is related to the constraints that need to be set to the scroll view. I have answered a similar question here. Basically you need to specify a constraint for the scroll view's content view's width. See my answer in above link for a detailed description. The problem is that the scrollview adjusts its size to its content view's size even after we provide proper constraints to the scroll view. So we need to specify the constraints of the content view of the scroll view with respect to the scrollview and its superview so that the content in the scrollview fits our requirement.
One thing I noticed was that in your CGRectMake code you are specifying your y origin to be tableViews y value + 130. That seems like the problem to me.

How to access correct width value from IB with Autolayout

I have some strange Issues.
I have a UIViewController and only 1 UIView (I call it containerView) inside. The UIView should have the same Width as the UIViewController.
So I set the Leading and the Trailing Constraints between the UIView and the UIViewController to 0. During runtime everything works fine, BUT, how can I access the actual width during runtime? I tried it with:
self.containerView.frame.size.width
but of course frames doesn't work with autolayout and I only got a width of 600.0f, which is the standard width from the Interface Builder!
I also tried to set a fixed Constraint Width but this also makes no sense because the iPhone has a different Screen Width as the iPad for example.
Any Ideas how i can access the Width of my UIVIew during runtime.
PS: As you can see i use Interface Builder, Size Classes and Autolayout!

and since your UIView have 0 space to all screen edges the width of the UIView will be the same as the screen size so you can get it like this:

How to make uiscrollview only vertical scrolling for ios?

It will be appreciated for any advices or tutorial links. It needs only vertical scrolling
I am sure there must be other ways to do this but a quick fix is :
1.) Create a width constraint on ContentView in Storyborad.
2.) IBOutlet that widthContraint and set its value to the view frame width in viewDidLoad.
Suppose the name of the constraint outlet is contentViewWidthContraint.
contentViewWidthContraint.constant = self.view.bounds.size.width;
Another alternative to do so from Storyboard, is to fix the Contentview width to the view's width from the storyboard or to the Scrollview, if Scrollview already has a Equal width contraint with superview . Add the "Equal Width" contraint from Contentview to either self.view or to Scrollview (if scrollview, already has the width contraint)
Have you set up the "ContentView" width to match with the scroll view width? I had the same problem and I fixed with "Equal Widths".
"Equal Widths" will tell to your "ContentView" to use the same width of the "Scroll View", which should be fitting the screen if you have set up the constrain properly.
You can do this easily on the storyboard.
Drag and drop, with right click (important!!!), from "ContentView" to "ScrollView"
Release the click, you will be prompted with a menu, select "Equal Widths".
This should fix your problem using the scrollview with AutoLayout from Storyboard editor.

In the Storyboard set the width of the elements contained in your UIScrollView equal to the width of this UIScrollView (by selecting all elements and the UIScrollView holding in the panel on the left of your Storyboard and then setting the 'Equal Widths' constraint under 'Pin' on the bottom of your Storyboard). Just pinning the right sides of the elements to that of the UIScrollView won't work as it will adjust the size of its "display view" to the width of the largest element and if this is smaller than the width of the UIScrollView all elements will just appear aligned to its left side.
There is also another possibility that offers a very good result.
You can mark a checkbox:
O programmatically:
scrollView.alwaysBounceVertical = true
Try to set it's width to 0 & height equal to content size like this:
self.scrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(0, self.scrollView.contentSize.height);
This will work as you want. Try it & tell if still facing any issue.
For disabling the horizontal scroll, you can set the content size in the -(void)scrollViewDidScroll method.
[self.scrollView setContentOffset: CGPointMake(0, self.scrollView.contentOffset.y)];
self.scrollView.directionalLockEnabled = YES;
This is because scroll view have no idea where your content should end.
But when at least one item inside your scroll view has its "trailing space" constraint attached to a view outside the scroll view (usually a view the scroll view is sitting in or some other view of a higher level, which "knows" its width) - the scroll view will automatically get an idea about your wanted width and won't scroll horizontally (unless that trailing constraint implies having your content outside the screen).
Better if all items inside scroll view have their "trailing space" constraints connected either to each other or to a view outside the scroll view. But not the scroll view itself.
No additional code or extra constraints needed for this to work.
Too set UIScrollView constraints as like below code so it will occupied whole screen.Not exceed the screen size.
Leading Space = 0 from mainView
Top Space = 0 from mainView
Bottom Space = 0 from mainView

You need to set the width of UIScrollView equal to or less than the width of your Parent View. Two ways to do it:
1) You can do this in Storyboard via layout constraints
2) You can do this programatically:

imageView centered inside scrollView

How can I vertically center an image inside a scrollView?
I'm using storyboards in Xcode 5. The main view is embedded inside a navigation controller, and "Adjust scroll view insets" option is enabled in main Storyboard. This main view has a scrollView which size is equal to the main view size.
The imageView is inside the scrollView and it's the same size as the scrollView. Content mode is set to AspectFit.
So, hierarchy is as follows:
- UINavigationController
- UIView
- UIScrollView
- UIImageView
The image may be landscape or portrait, and can be any size (it's loaded at runtime). This is why imageView is the same size as the scrollView.
How can I vertically center the image inside the scrollView?
EDIT:
As commented before, I have set imageView's contentMode to AspectFit because the image may be too big, so I need it resized. The problem I have is that the image is not center of the scrollView.

It will be good to use auto layout as mentioned by #Douglas. However, if you prefer the traditional way, you can also make it work.
I'll first give you the answer and then explain it to you. You should first delete the image view from the storyboard ( I'll explain it later), and then add the viewWillAppear method.

Here is the explanation:
You should not put the imageView in the storyboard, otherwise the frame of the imageView will be fixed by the storyboard, and will not change with the size of the image. Even if you choose UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFill, the frame of the imageView is still not changed. It just add some white space around the image.
Now the imageView has the same size as your image. If you want it to be fully displayed, you need to calculate the frame yourself.
Pay attention to the _scrollView.contentInset.top / 2, this is why you need to put the codes in viewWillAppear instead of viewDidLoad. The _scrollView.contentInset.top is the height of the navigation bar and is calculated automatically for you before willViewAppear.
You put your image view in a scrollView, I guess you want to zoom in and out. If this is true, add self.imageView = imageView; and the bottom of viewDidLoad. Set the delegate of _scrollView to self and add the following method:

I made a comment, but then took a look at your project. You are almost there. I ran through the following steps and have gotten the result you are looking for.
First, make sure you have auto layout turned ON!!!
In your storyboard click on your scroll view. You had a scroll view that was the same size as the view. You are going to put on some constraints. Down at the bottom of the story board you will see some icons.
The fourth one over looks sort of like an I-beam on its side, it is the pin button. After selecting the scroll view, click on this and it will bring up a pop up menu.
For the scroll view click on all the bars around the middle block so you pin the scroll view to the sides of the main view.
You will notice they are all red now.
Then go and click on the imageview. Once again you had it set to the size of the view. Using the pin button again, you are going to pin just the Width at 320 and the Height at 568. When you are done you are then going to use the next button over.
This is the align button. Click on that after you have selected your image view. You are going to click on Horizontal Center in Container, and Vertical Center in Container.
Next you will need to add one method to your ViewController.m file.

Start up the simulator and let her rip! You will get one warning though. It says the content size is ambiguous for the scroll view. But that's OK, because you will set it on viewDidLayoutSubviews.

if you want to then make the image view scalable, by pinch zooming you can do the following.
Make sure you made the .h file follow the UIScrollViewDelagate.

This will allow the scroll view to be able to access the delegate methods of the scroll view. The method you are looking for is called..
- (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView
{
return self.imageView;
}
Then in the viewDidLoad method of your .m file do the following.
_scrollView.minimumZoomScale = 0.5;
_scrollView.maximumZoomScale = 4.0;
_scrollView.delegate = self;
The underscore and the variable name is the same as self.variable. Either will work.

These are the ones u can use, the 3 modes of ImageView content display.You can do this by dynamically setting them or u can set them in storyboard too, click on the ImageView and go to properties tab-bar and choose from there, run them and select which output u want.

Resizing a UIImageView programmatically

I have tried several different solutions to this problem with no success.
I have a UIImageView (created on the Storyboard) that has multiple Gesture Recognizers on it. I have trying to resize this UIImageView based on screen size to take advantage of the 4 inch display.
It appears that since the Imageview was built using the storyboard, I can't change it programmatically???
My current code looks like this:

If you are using autolayout you have to change withConstraint of the image, because manual changing of the frame will not work in this case.
EDIT
You can create IBOutlet for the width constraint as you do it for other controls - just select constraint in IB and move it with right button to your header file. Than in code change constraint:

yes you need to use like this,

There's no difference in resizing UIViews created by code or by the storyboard. It's exactly the same: setting the frame of the view, as you are doing.
What might be happening:
Your if condition it's never true. Have you checked with a breakpoint if the code inside it is even called? Maybe there's some error in the float direct comparation. See this.
Also, see this for a better understanding on how to check if it's 4 inch display.
If the setFrame: code is actually called, check if you are using auto-layout in your view. Maybe there's a constraint in the UIImageView. In this case, you should play with this constraint, in order to resize the view correctly..
