I want a password protected settings screen for iOS. For that when the user navigates to the settings screen I hope to popup a UIView and ask for the password. For that I want to know two things
How to detect the user has moved to the settings screen.
How to pop up my UIView(or else at lest an alertview) within the settings screen.
Simple answer is: you can't. Incorporate the protected settings within the app.
That's not possible, your app works on its own scope, you cannot monitor or control in any way what the user does in the phone outside of your app.

Is there a way to open the Settings in Display&Brightness when tapping an alertView buttons? I want the user to be redirected here in order to change its Standard/Zoom view mode.
No.
In iOS 8, there is no supported method for a third-party app to open Settings to anything other than the top level, or to their app's custom settings, if they exist.
What you see in Tinder and Facebook are system alerts that iOS presents when your app wants to use the network or location services and (cellular data or) wi-fi is turned off. This is managed by iOS, and is not something that Tinder or Facebook had to add to their app.
we are developing hybrid application on Worklight.
After the user launches the application on iOS, he will see the login screen, providing his credentials, he is inside our application.
Now, if the user clicked the home button for iOS before "logging out" from the app, the iOS will take a snapshot and store it inside the device cache.
By using IExplorer, I can see this screen cached, which in our situation a high critical issue.
How can I a override this screen with a white screen, in case the user clicked the home button of the iOS device it will be populated immediately, and the device will not snapshot the user main screen.?
Is there any thumbnail I can add to my nativeResource folder for iOS to solve this issue?
thank you.
I encourage you to look at the Worklight Knowledge Center. In most cases, you will find your answer.
To control the snapshot taken by the OS when moving to the background, you need to use the following API methods, depending on your needs:
WL.App.BackgroundHandler.setOnAppEnteringBackground and WL.App.BackgroundHandler.setOnAppEnteringForeground
So with this new fingerprint thing you only need to tap the home button and hold your finger for a few moments to unlock your phone. I was wondering if there's an API that lets us make use of the "Tap" functionality.
i.e. Let's say in my app, when the user taps the home button, my app does xyz.
Also, would it be possible for my app to read these taps when the screen is locked?
NOTE: By tap I do not mean pressing the button, just a tap, like when we unlock the iPhone 5s with the fingerprint scan.
I'm completely new to iOS development. So referencing libraries with links etc and basic tutorials might make things a bit clearer for me.
Thanks.
Nope. This API does not exist. File a feature request at http://bugreport.apple.com. I can't imagine that this will get implemented though, given the possibility of abuse.
No there is no public API for the Touch ID sensor... yet. And there may never be one.
I am developing an iPad application & I want to keep use only my application in iPad. User is not able to make any changes with Home button too.
I have tried same thing with "Guided Access". But, it will stop push notification also.
I have tried it with iPhone configuration Utility. But, I am not able to find any
restriction for Home button.
So, anyone have any idea how can I implement it?
You can't disable the Home button from the sandbox. You have to use the physical accessories to stop the Home button action, after opening your application.
My iOS 4/5/6 app is meant to be used briefly. I want the user to click a "Done, now go away" button which takes them back to the app they were using before mine came to the front.
Is there a way for my iOS to put itself in the background while returning the previous app to the front?
On an iPad, the user can get that effect by doing a four-finger swipe horizontally across the screen. But that gesture is not a complete solution because (a) that gesture does not work on a handheld device, and (2) not many users know of that gesture. I want to programmatically return the previous app to the front.

That button is the Home button.

There's no public API for switching to another app. Users have a number of options for switching between apps, though. In addition to the swipe gesture you mentioned, they can do a four-finger upward swipe to get to the list of recent apps, or double-tap the home button for the same effect, or hit the home button once to go back to Springboard. Users, not apps, are supposed to be in control of which app is in the foreground. And the way they do that should be standard from one app to another. I can understand wanting to make life easier for the user, but what you're trying to do just isn't possible with the available API.
I Don't think you can do that if the previous application is not your property or if you are not aware if a URL Scheme has been incorporated in the previous application that you know of.
Launch App Via URL Scheme!
