I'm creating a custom module.
In my scenario I have an user that needs to see the dashboard and in it just my module admin menu.
I have granted appropriate permission to a new user and a new role I created for this specific purpose.
My module is ok but the new user sees the Content menu as well.
The user has just my role enabled.
No permissions on Content are checked, specifically "View All Content" is NOT checked on my role but it is checked on Authenticated role.
If I remove "View All content" from Authenticated users the users that logs in cannot see content in public part of site and the Content menu is still visible on dashboard...
So far it seems to me a bug but before filing it as BUG I would see if there is a workaround.
The question is:
"How can I hide completely the content menu to an user that has a specific role set?"
My orchard version is Orchard v.1.7.1.0
Thanks
As far as I know the dashboard does not support hiding particular items based on permissions. The dashboard is meant to be used by administrators only and regular users should not be allowed to access it.
If you are trying to expose settings for non-admin users, then I would suggest moving your settings form outside of the dashboard to a regular view. Then you can display it only for particular users based on permissions or any other criteria.

I'm making a discord bot with Discord js and it has to distribute roles according to the time a person has been connected. The problem is that even though I have administrator privileges, since the role puts itself automatically at the bottom of the server's role hierarchy, when I try to give a role it tells me that the bot does not have enough permissions. Here is a capture:
And I get an interruption due to lack of permissions when trying to assign the habitual role having PASM. Although PASM has administrator permissions and habitual role only some basic permission, I get this interruption.
In that same exact page, you can hover over the PASM role and drag it above the role you want by dragging the 6 dots drag icon that shows up on the left of the role name.
I want to something like:
After user logged in open a view to select the Tenant that user will use to work. But I want to prevent user to access the system without set the Tenant.
Details:
I need the tenant selection to be in a second page different of the login page, because I want to show only the Tenants that have relashionship with this user.
My app is built with Devise and sometimes some users report a problem, so I would like to be able so log in with their accounts and see the dashboard (the website in general) as they do (as a regular member).
How to do that with Devise? Is there any feature for this?
Use a field role to define user access. In case of other users just assign as guest. Make a admin role for your user entry. Now instead to logging into others account, create a custom option in dashboard which can be accessed only by admin, provide a option to change users which helps in viewing different dashboards depending on users.
I have an unusual problem with my website, which has been built using Ruby on Rails technology. Whenever I click "Like" button under any post on my webpage, the post is supposed to be shared on my facebook profile like posts from 9gag. The problem is that by default, this post's visibility on my facebook profile is set that only I can see it and I want the post to be (by default) visible for all my friends. How can I do that? I couldn't find anything helpful on google about this case.
Thanks for help in advance!
I had the same problem with my website. For some reason, the Facebook App that you create to add widgets to your website sets its privacy default in your profile to "only me".
This only happens for the user that creates the App (maybe to avoid making your first tests and debug public) : in fact, I noticed that other users can share articles publicly without changing any settings.
To change it, just go to privacy settings in your Facebook profile: there you will see your website preference under Applications. Change it from "Only me" to "friends" or "public"
We have our F5 LTM BIG-IP® Configuration Utility setup in an Active/Passive setup, and have different links to each admin utility console.
Is it possible to display the Failover Status (active vs standby) on the Login Page so you don't have to login to see the status? It's frustrating to login only to see you've logged into the Standby node.
I don't believe so, but if you go to System>Preferences you could modify the "Security Banner Text To Show On The Login Screen". Generally, here you would specify a custom security message which provides legal protection to your organization, such as a message stating that unauthorized access is forbidden and what password restriction that other users should be specifying (the login screen of the BIG-IP Configuration utility displays the text that you specify in this field). Here, you could probably mention which is active and which is standby without syncing this change to the group. Just make sure that whenever you fail-over from one device to the other (shouldn't be too often); that you simply adjust this message and you should therefore be good to go with that. Hope this helps :)
