how to get twitter feeds in shopify - twitter

I am trying to get twitter feeds in to my shopify site. I want to get the feeds and style them as I want and thus cant use a app.
I know how to do it using PHP but can not use that code in shopify and looking for a way I can use OAuth in shopify and get the feeds. I tried the shopify docs but without an example its kinda hard to actually get my head around it.
http://docs.shopify.com/api/tutorials/oauth
Thats the link I am using as a guide. If anyone can direct me to an example which might be similar that would be awesome. (google didnt seem to be that helpful this time either)
Cheers

I know you said you didn't want to use an app, but can I suggest taking a look at Twitify? You can use custom CSS to style your tweets. Also see discussions about Twitify here and here.
Twitter changed their display guidelines and policies on embedding of tweets on websites in June 2013. One of the themes I used for a client earlier in the year had custom styling of tweets, and they have now changed it to use the official Twitter widget to meet the new guidelines. In fact, the images on the Shopify theme store show how it used to look before Twitter changed things:
And after:
I think using an app like Twitify would be the easiest way to deal with these changes to embedding tweets.

Thanx for the suggestion. I did take a look at that before I posted this question. This is a project for a client and I dont think getting a plug in is a viable option. Anyways I found a work around.
Hosted the file on a server and then accessed it. So that resolved the problem. :)
I used node.js to write the script and get the posts as required.
Cheers.

you can use the app for that Twitify https://apps.shopify.com/twitify or you can Embed a Twitter feed in your online store
Go to your Twitter settings.
Click Widgets to open the widgets menu.
Create a new widget, following Twitter's instructions.
Copy the embed code.

How to intergrate a single tweet into your website

Right now im building a simple html/css site for a friend. The homepage is a series of grid block divs that hold some content.
There are currently 3 block divs we have marked for social media posts. So for example, he wants his latest tweet to appear in one of those divs. His latest instagram post to appear in another and facebook in the last.
We can ignore facebook for the time being as I'm only focusing on the twitter/instagram for now.
I'm struggling with where to begin for this project. In the past I have only embedded twitter timelines, Instagram posts using widgets etc....nothing too complicated.
But for this project I will need separate stripped down posts, ie: just the plain text from his tweet inside the twitter div. The image from his Instagram post as the background image on the Instagram block etc...
I've spent the last few hours trying to get my head around oEmbed, and I can safely say I'm failing miserably.
I'm actually more confused now then before I started, so if any kind soul could give me a dummies guide to how I can approach this, that would be absolutely amazing.
Thank you!
You can acheive a single embedded tweet using an embedded timeline.
To get just one tweet, use the data-tweet-limit attribute on the embed tag, as detailed here:
https://dev.twitter.com/web/embedded-timelines/parameters
For example:
<a class="twitter-timeline" href="https://twitter.com/TwitterDev" data-widget-id="some_id" data-tweet-limit="1"></a>
According to twitter's documentation, that is the recommended way of getting tweets onto websites. From your description of the use case, I'd highly recommend just using Twitter's official widget.
If you really want to use Twitter's REST API and generate your page server side, I'd check out this stack overflow question as a starting point:
Setting up Twitter API, getting the last few Tweets
Hope that helps!

Fetch all feeds from my twitter timeline and show to my Android App

I know it is research topic.
I am not able to find how should I proceed and display some accounts tweet to my android application.
I am reading document by twitter and following with this.
https://dev.twitter.com/rest/tools/console
I am not able to figure out how to use this.
As per my understanding I should use
https://api.twitter.com/1.1/statuses/user_timeline.json but not able to figure out how to proceed.
If any body know about some good example or anything which make me to move ahead.
In order to achieve that you need to download one of the packages available that access the Twitter API using the proper token and key required.
Some of these packages include tweepy or sixohsix. I'm more familiar with tweepy and there's plenty of documentation that would lead you in the right direction, including Youtube videos. They're both available through GitHub.
If you need code specific questions of the two then you need to first give them a try, then ask new questions with the problems you're encountering.

Does anyone know the yFrog RSS feed addresses?

I want to embed the latest image uploaded to yFrog for a particular user on another site. They appear to have recently launched a widget, and I've found some talk of RSS feeds. But everything relating to them seems to have been pulled from the yFrog site recently. Any ideas?
You should try implementing a Yahoo! Pipe using Twitter and yFrog API to generate an RSS. Here is mine: http://pipes.yahoo.com/norbertcsik/twitter_images
It looks like they used to support, but it doesn't look like it works anymore.
For evidence, see this and this.

Display twitter feeds

For an event in a couple of weeks I'd like to make an web page/app which display tweets from a specific user, a specific hashtag and all #reply's at the first user in 3 boxes on the screen.
However I've never tried this. I want to use either .NET (C#) or HTML/CSS/JS since I'm proficient in those. Are there any libraries/API's I can use? Or is there an readily available freeware/open-source app I can use?
Have you seen TweetSharp?
Use Twitter's profile and search widgets. Profile for the first box, a search of the hash tag for the second box, and a search of to:username for the third box.
I actually just posted this as an answer to another question:
I just updated a plugin to work with the Twitter 1.1 API. Unfortunately, per Twitter's urging, you will have to perform the actual request from server-side code. However, you can pass the response to the plugin and it will take care of the rest. I don't know what framework you are running, but I have already added sample code for making the request in C#, and will be adding sample code for PHP, shortly.
The plugin makes a call to statuses/user_timeline, but you will likely want to look at statuses/filter or statuses/search, instead. All you will have to do is add your desired parameters (hashtag, replies, etc.) to the server-side code and it should work (with the addition of your security keys and tokens, of course).
Good luck! :)

Getting stats for Twitter app

I'm using Twitter's OAuth for my app (DroidIn)
To my dismay I can't find any way to track who and how often is using the app. Searching Twitter for "sent from DroidIn" does not yield any results. I suppose I can call some sort of counter app from my code but that doesn't seem to be fair to my users. Any ideas or suggestions?
It seems that yet again I have to answer my own question. After some investigation and feedback from question posted on Google Twitter developer group it seems that for now there are no stats easily accessible or available. Said that I found 2 interesting things:
You can search Twitter using source:yourapp switch. For example you can try this query
android source:API
There is very exciting streaming API from Twitter. I have a short write-up in my dev blog.
But if you want some actual stats there's no other choice today but implement it as part of your app. There's one more possibility if you have some sort of web-based interface you may want to use Google Analytics to trigger some Google javascript while submitting the update. I'm trying that right now and may end up with article in the blog
