I am new to agent based modeling, and am running the demo model that come along with the RepastJ (Repast 3). Is it possible to run the simulation in a web browser? Thanks in advance.
you can try this, will help you a lot :)
If you are using a PC:
Go to the Java website to obtain a free copy of the Java software, and download Java (at least the
Java Runtime Environment), if it is not already on the PC to be used.
Then download RepastJ to run the Basic Immune Simulator.
If you are using a Mac:
A copy of JAVA is NOT needed. Simply, download the OS X version of Repast J.
Install the Repast J that is appropriate for your operating system by following the instructions
provided on the Repast website for the downloads. Be sure to download the correct version of
Repast J for your computer.
Download the Basic Immune Simulator file (BasicImmuneSimulator.jar) onto your computer.
Once the above steps have been completed, the simulation may be run as follows:
Start Repast either by clicking on the icon or by finding the repastj.exe file within the repast
directory and clicking on it. The Repast toolbar should appear.
At the left edge of the toolbar there is an icon of a folder.
Click on the folder and a “Load Model” pane appears.
Scroll down in the Load Model pane and click on “Models” and then the “Add” button.
A browser will appear. Use this browser to find the BasicImmuneSimulator.jar file, which can be
found where ever it was downloaded.
Click on the BasicImmuneSimulator.jar file and "Basic Immune Model" will appear under “Other
Models”.
Click on the “Load” button, to make the Basic Immune Model graphical user interface (GUI)
appear.
Once "Basic Immune Model Settings" GUI appears, click on the "Parameters" tab to see the input
parameter choices available for a simulation run, if the parameters are not already displayed.
Choose the pathological challenge from the list in the GUI. Any other parameter may be
changed to the user’s discretion at this point as well.
Click the Run button (triangle) on the Repast toolbar to start the simulation.
Note that data files from the simulation will be saved automatically to wherever the repastj.exe file
is located.

I have installed Java 8 JDK and JRE, and when I type javac into cmd, everything seems fine. However, when I download a .jar, for example Optifine, I have no option to open with Java. The icon of the .jar is Internet Explorer. When I double-click on the Optifine .jar, I am brought to a "View and track your downloads" window, where I then get stuck in a "Save" and "Open" loop. What can I do to actually see Java as an option to open with? Sidenote: if anyone does reply, please use simpler coding language, as my knowledge only comes from hours of research on how to fix this problem.
I don't know which version of Windows you are using so I can provide detailed step by step guide. .jar files can be opened with Java and compression/decompression utilities. In general, you can change the default programs in control panel and associate .jar file with a specific program you want.
Note: As an irrelevant point in order to use Optifine.jar for Minecraft modding you do not need to open it.
recently, My company need me to do something on application cache, and I read this article: http://www.codemag.com/Article/1112051, I followed his steps, but it cannot work by using vs2013, it will show you the right page, but when you press f12 in chrome, it will show some error:Application Cache Error event: "Failed to parse manifest localhost:xxxxx/Home/manifest", and actually app cache didn't work. but when I use vs2010 it works just fine! since vs2013 has a lot more files in the mvc project, I cannot figure out what's wrong. Now I need some vs2013 tools which are not included in vs2010, so I really need the vs2013 version of this app cache program. It's quite in a hurry, can anyone help me? thanks a lot!
Please follow these steps to see if it helps.
Step 1: Run Windows System File Checker("sfc /scannow")
It allows you to scan for file corruption and restore Windows system files such as DebuggerProxy.dll. If System File Checker finds a problem with DebuggerProxy.dll or other critical system file, it will attempt to replace the problematic files from DLL Cache (%WinDir%\System32\Dllcache). If the DebuggerProxy.dll file is not in the DLL Cache, or the DLL Cache is corrupted, you will be prompted to insert the Windows installation disc to recover the original files.
To run System File Checker:
1.Click the Start button.
2.Type "cmd" in the search box... DO NOT hit ENTER yet!
3.While holding CTRL-Shift on your keyboard, hit ENTER.
4.You will be prompted with a permission dialog box.
5.Click Yes.
6.A black box will open with a blinking cursor.
7.Type "sfc /scannow" and hit ENTER.
8.System File Checker will begin scanning for DebuggerProxy.dll and other system file problems (be patient - the system scan may take a while).
9.Follow the on-screen commands.
Step 2:Make sure your ISO installation file is correct.
You can download the ISO file from the website below.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-hk/download/details.aspx?id=40787]
Before you install it, I suggest you use this tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290 to verify hash of the ISO. Any discrepancy would indicate that the file was corrupted. Here is a blog about how to use the tool.
The sha1 value of ISO is "E61419E51F42254EE07DECF628B85C9861286250".
Then try reinstall it.
I have developed an installer using Advanced Installer.I have a GUI which is a .exe file which I want to launch after the execution completes.
I tried adding the .exe to post installation but the .exe is launched midway when the installation has not finished and when I close the GUI button the installation completes.
I want that when the installation is complete, the GUI(.exe) file should be launched
I also want that on the click of launch application button at the end of the installation should launch the GUI
When I click the launch application button it opens the folder SYSWOW64
I found few solutions to this,I tried all of them but nothing seems to be working for me at the moment.
Thanks,
Regards
It's going to be a custom action, right? So if it runs too early, why can't you just sequence it later, maybe after InstallFinalize.
Do you need a button to say launch it? Why not just run it?
You have multiple options to launch the application at the end of the installation using Advanced Installer. The article I linked explains all of them.
I am trying to use an application called CLUT.exe which is an old application for MS-DOS that can be used to reindex NTX files for DBF databases.
(This is not the main topic, but I am just writing this if someone wants to test the app and don't trust at all about the content).
The problem starts when trying to run the command line version through console (cmd.exe) and this error appears:
C:\>CLUT.exe [arg1] [arg2] [arg3]
run-time error R6009
- not enough space for environment
So, according to what I've searched, this could be a possible solution:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;230205
but it doesn't work and every alternative that I found to solve this over the internet is the same.
Another alternative could be to make right-click in the .exe file, go to Properties then Memory tab and increase the Initial environment memory from Auto to the max value but it doesn't work too.
Well, I am stuck and no "possible" solution is working for me. If someone is interested, knows more about this issue and want to test, you can download the application from here (click "Free Download" green button):
http://www.filebasket.com/free/Development-Clipper-programming-language/clut-exe/13996.html
or directly from my DropBox:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/15208254/stackoverflow/clut_214.rar
Just to know, I am using Windows 7 and the CLUT.exe application is a Clipper based app (old programming language) that may run under windows console (cmd.exe).
Wikipedia does mention other dos emulators but, oddly, doesn't mention BOCHS.
Reindexing NTX files is not a difficult thing to do, and can be done with tools other than CLUT. For example, many of the utilities listed on this part of Download32 could be used. Otherwise, you could write your own using Harbour Project or xHarbour. Or contact me off list and I'll cook up something in Clipper 5.3.
LATER
If I read the README correctly for CLUT, it's a replacement for the DBU utility that comes with Clipper 5.x. I can supply you with a build of that if you're unsuccessful with other approaches.
I am using BlackBerry SDK 5.0.0.36 on eclipse
whenever i am doing any changes i need to restart the simulator
i want to run simulator only once and dont wanna restart it again n again for little changes
i refer to this thread in stackoverflow.com -> "View changes without restarting Blackberry simulator?"
i follow the given procedure in above thread but still my simulator not making it
i also tried it in BlackBerry SDK 6.0 and 7.1 . . .but i am still fighting with same problem
As Mister Smith says, this functionality is not highly reliable. Sometimes it works, and sometimes not.
However, one fixable problem that I encounter somewhat often is that permissions on the JDE plugin folders get restricted so that the BlackBerry simulator cannot write out the proper files to perform hot swapping.
I can often fix this in Windows explorer by going to the root folder for Eclipse (you could probably just go to the JDE plugin folder, if you're concerned about opening up permissions too much). In Windows Explorer, right-click and select Properties. I then uncheck the Read-only checkbox. Then, use the Security tab and make sure that your user account has Full control for that directory, and all of its subdirectories.
I will usually also just transfer ownership of the entire Eclipse directory tree to my user account (e.g. HOSTNAME\username). Do that with the Advanced button on the Security tab.
Also, have a look at this question/answer and this BlackBerry support forum thread on the topic of hot swap file permissions
