Highcharts add ticks after chart was rendered - highcharts

I have a chart with some data. My tick calculation however needs some time so what I'd like to do is render the chart and show it to the user, calculate ticks in the background and once done add the ticks to the chart without rerender it.
Is that possible somehow?
Thanks!

Generally ticks cannot be render "after" points drawing, because engine calculate ticks based on points, and render them.

Changinx Bar Charts X position on Highcharts

We have a request from customer and we need to trick the highcharts bar view.
The problem is our series contain timestamp vs value but business wise this value is corresponding to previous timestamp to that value's timestamp. So we would like to show the bars in between of these timestamps.
So is there an easy way to do this in highcharts w/o playing with the points in the series.

You can use xAxis.tickPositioner in order to move ticks and xAxis.labels.formatter to change labels values.

Output:

Displaying ticks on top of gauge chart

I'm trying to create a gauge chart with the ticks rendered on top of the bar. Ideally, it would look something like this:
However, I haven't been able to find a setting to change their render order. Right now, my chart looks like this:
Is there a way to change the rendering order of the ticks and the bar in Highcharts' gauge charts?
Using the examples provided by highcharts, i'm able to create a gauge where the ticks are rendered above the gauge bar. It has to do with the zIndex property of the yAxis. Using the template provided by highcharts, in the gaugeOptions object, set the yAxis:zIndex property to 100. Then in the actual gague config/data object, set teh yAxis:zIndez to 99. When you do this, the ticks will continue to appear over the bar even as it passes the ticks value. Take a look at the highcharts updated jsFiddle:

shinobi chart gridline end in data point instead of going all the way to the top of chart

I'm drawing a chart in an iOS app and I want the gridlines to start in the x axis but end in the data point instead of extending all the way up to the top.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance.

Disclaimer: I work for ShinobiControls
The shinobicharts framework doesn't currently support this as an out-of-the-box feature.
A workaround may exist though. You may be able to add your own gridline subviews by using the SChartAxis method pixelValueForDataValue: to work out where in the plot area coordinate space you should draw your vertical line up to for a given data point.
Once you have your coordinates there are various ways you could draw your gridlines:
Add a canvas view behind or in front of the chart (depending on what effect you want). Then use your coordinates to draw your gridlines using CoreGraphics or some other drawing technique.
Create individual UIViews that each represent a gridline using your coordinates and add these behind or in front of the chart.
One thing to be aware of with this technique is that the gridlines will not automatically update when you pan and zoom. In order to do this you will need to override one of the chart's delegate methods that notify you of range changes and update your drawn gridlines to match the new data point positions.
Another potential workaround could be to use a column series to mimic gridlines. If you create a column series and feed it the same data points as your original series this will result in columns that go up to the y-value of each data point. You could then use the property interSeriesSetPadding on SChartAxisStyle to cause the columns to appear very thin.
I hope that information is useful!

Can a Highcharts Donut or Pie Chart Show a Default Background Circle?

I am helping my organization put together some Pie and Donut charts using Highcharts, and some of our charts will have zero value points. Normal behavior is to not render these points out, but that leaves us with an empty chart.
So, is there a way to set a "background" circle for the Donut chart so that if all values are zero, the user still sees a gray donut (indicating "0" values)?
I don't want to use something like a background image because then it may not adjust responsively in a proper manner. Plus, we'd like the parameters of the circle to be adjustable just like other data elements in Highcharts.
Thanks for any and all advice!

Changing lables on x-axis like from Monday to show M as per window size in HighCharts

I am using highcharts library to draw chart and I need to display Weekdays as labels on x-axis and also to auto reset it like from Monday to M if all weekdays can't fit on screen.
It should be dynamic, which means no flickering should appear when changing label text on x-axis.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
There is no straight option for that, rather simple workaround:
Disable reflow from Highcharts, use window.resize browser event
In that event add condition to decide showing full name of just shortened, and set this for chart - chart.xAxis[0].dateTimeLabelFormats should be fine
After setting new format, apply new chart dimensions using chart.setSize(w, h)
