I'm wondering whether there's a better way of implementing a "context menu" in my app. This is a screenshot of how it currently looks like and as you can see, almost the entire screen is already filled up with entries:
This is actually a UIAlertView with multiple "other" buttons.
I wondered if it's possible to create sort of a grid layout within the alert view and add three buttons per row which show icons only, instead of labels (in order to save some space). I'd like to make it similar to this (photoshopped) layout:
I read that it's possible to create a popup with custom stuff in it by using a UIView but perhaps you guys know an easier trick of accomplishing the same thing with an UIAlertView.
Is this even possible with an alert view?
it's impossible to create an UIAlertView like this.. Create a new UIView and add it to your viewController with [self.view addSubview:..]
You should use UIActionSheet instead of UIAlertView in this case. Or you can use modalViewController something like this: http://timneill.net/2010/09/modal-view-controller-example-part-1/

I was asked to display a list of three options for the user in a View sliding from the top to bottom. They say it should slide from the top because the action is initiated from a dropdown-like button on the navigation bar.
Most of what I found on that subject mentions the deprecated UIActionSheet class.
The "new" way using UIAlertController doesn't seem to allow us to change position of the view. At the least from what I've found.
The end result I'm trying to get can be seen on the image below,
From what I've learned about iOS programming, one method I could think to achieve that would be to create a new UIViewController and to use a custom class to control the transition. But it just seems so much. And I think it wouldn't not look like a dropdown afterall.
The other option would be to create the TableView with options and leave it on the Controller where it should be displayed, configuring its height to zero. And then Animating when necessary. I also have such a bad feeling doing it this way.
Is there a right way to do this on iOS? Does one of the options I've found seems acceptable?

Following the suggestion given by #Losiowaty on the comments, I started looking for a custom View/Control on cocoapods and ended up finding quite a few that did what I was looking.
The one I decided to use is this:

I wonder which component is being used to create a selector option like the one used in iBooks where we can adjust the Font Size and also the Theme, but without moving to a new view controller.
In my application I would like to implement it giving 3 small options to the user to choose, but without moving the view controller being presented. Its a small square area with an arrow at the bottom or top side giving the impression where it's coming from. (Let me know if I am not clear with the explanation).
Does anybody know how to use it??

ibooks is using UIView. In that UIView you can add any controls you like. You need to use delegate methods so that I can perform communication between two objects(send message to another object). You will be able to make you custom UIView as controls.
Is something like this possible? How?

It is not possible with the default UIActionSheet, However you can try custom control like
TweetBot like UIAlertView and UIActionSheet replacement for iOS
Create your own view controller with the desired view layout and animate the view when presenting. It's much easier than risking changing the default UIActionSheet look and feel.
I want to display an alert view dialog in ios with usual title, message and two buttons + additionally I need a check box with message like "Always show this". In apple HIG document, they stated better to use an action sheet or view controller instead of displaying more controls in an alertview. Any alternative options are there?

You can create Custom View in which you can you all the required control and if you want to show the you can also use nice animation to show them and also you can set some good graphics as well. So the best way is to create CustomView.

I know I can access a individual button on a actionSheet using a for loop to access the particular button in the action sheet I want, but the thing is, how would I make a green button?
I know each button acts almost identically to a UIButton so how should I go upon making one of my buttons in the action sheet green?
I just need some tips or help with this as it is the last part of my app that isn't done!

When I have needed customizations for UIActionSheets, sometimes I find methods to make it happen simply, but more often I end up having to set up a custom view on way or another. I've added all manners of custom controls with:
[sheet addSubview: myCustomActionSheetController.view];
You might need to set the size as well.
