Having two TFS Servers - tfs

I'd like to know if there is some way to make a checkin on a TFS server associated to a Work Item that's on another.
Currently some of our developers use a TFS that's hosted offshore containing the source code and we need to install another TFS locally to use Work Items as a project management tool and for the rest of our developers.
Beeing able to associate the two (work items + checkins) would be nice but I presume it's not possible.
Thanks

Apparently it's not possible: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/tfsgeneral/thread/d3ddf813-dc13-48a2-808e-7887ddc4d9b1

Sync 2 TFS servers?

We have 2 TFS servers, one is inside the firewall, and the other one is outside the firewall. Because of security reasons, we still need to keep it this way. But the question is: is there a way to Sync these 2 TFS servers, say at every night?
Say we have servers TFS1 and TFS2, right now, we only want to Sync from TFS1 to TFS2, not bidirectional synchronization. If possible, we want to have complete synchronization.
I searched some time, but I could not find a good solution. It seems all recommendations are for old version TFS.
Are there any solutions for the latest TFS? existing products? Or, some information about API that we can use to make a tool for this?
Thanks
There is nothing changed with sync two TFS servers for the latest TFS version. Just as Daniel and many other expert suggested:
TFS generally lives in 1 instance and 1 only. TFS is a production
environment for the development team. It doesn't make sense to have
two TFS systems and have them synchronize to make this separation.
Having your teams work on two different TFS environments at the same
time is a very strange requirement.

The best solution in your case, negotiating with your IT team, set up a safe and stable way to allow your top Management users to connect the internal TFS. You could also set up SSL for your TFS server to improve the safety.
It will also save you a lot of time costs for maintaining two servers syncing.
If you insist on syncing two TFS servers take a look at this similar question: Sychronising work between two TFS servers
Another way is using VSTS instead of your external TFS. Microsoft has documentation on this exact scenario which can be found here: Migrate to Visual Studio Team Services : Move from Team Foundation Server (TFS) to Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) and bring your data along.
This link also contains the download link for the migration tooling which you will want to use
Currently the following versions of TFS are supported for import:
TFS 2017 Update 3
TFS 2018
TFS 2018 Update 1

TFS to TFS replication with complete data?

I have seen that, there are resources available to migrate complete content from TFS to VSTS. However, i have not seen any good thread talks about the possibilities of getting it done between one TFS instance (2017) to another of same instance (again TFS 2017) hosted in different server?
First, you should confirm one thing, do you need to use the original hardware and TFS deployment or not.
You could perform a move when you plan to discontinue use of the original hardware and TFS deployment. You could also perform a clone when you intend to continue using the original TFS instance.
Please take a look at Move or Clone Team Foundation Server from one hardware to another
Note: If you want to do a colne option, you need to reconfigure server IDs and remap databases.

TFS 2010 team project Migration

Is there any way to move/migrate team projects of a Team project collection from one TFS server to another (both in TFS 2010 version). The destination Team Project collection contains a Team Project already and I want to move the source Team projects in to this particular team projects. So at the end I will have a Team Project which contains several projects in it. Is that possible? I want the history to be preserved as well.
If the above scenario is not possible, can I migrate Team projects from one server to another without going through the database backup-restore-TFS detach-attach process?
I thought of trying the TFSIntegration tool, but could see many people advised to avoid using this due to issues in it.
So if you have any information in accomplishing this, that would be great..
If you want all the history then you really only have 2 options:
TFS Integration platform - http://tfsintegration.codeplex.com/
Back up /restore the collection database - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd936138.aspx#Backup
I would recommend moving the database. This sounds pretty onerous but is actually quite easy.
Good Luck!
TFS INTEGRATION PLATFORM used for integration.
A tool which helps a lot named "witAdminUi".

Moving a Team Project from one Collection to another

is there a (simple) way to move a single TeamProject from one collection to another (in one server) in TFS 2010? Including source code, work items, documents, project site...
No not really simple, you can split a collection and creata a new collection with the team projects you move in it, but you cannot out-of-the-box merge a team project into an existing collection.
What you can do is to use the TFS integration platform http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/eb77e739-c98c-4e36-9ead-fa115b27fefe or http://tfsintegration.codeplex.com to migrate your team project over to the new collection. This is however a DataMigration that doesnt keep or even move all data, but it will move Source Code & Workitems. Moving a team project site (if needed) , including documents can be done by using the STSADM Export and Import commands, please refer to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288191%28v=office.12%29.aspx for more info about moving SharePoint sites
No there isn't.
But it is a requested feature: http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio/suggestions/2037613-make-it-possible-to-move-a-team-project-between-te
It is not easy, but it is doable: Split a Team Project Collection
Yes there is a feature request, but I don't think it will be shipped in the box, so the other option to use TFS Integration Platform
There is a way to move from one collection to another using git-tfs and git-tf tools, it is a kind of workaround, but works if this is really required to be done.
This is posted step-by-step here:
https://fabiostawinski.wordpress.com/2017/03/22/tfvc-to-git-to-tfvc-is-it-possible/
In VS 2013 - map both collections to some folders, and then "Move" command will be available:

What should I use for syncing TFS 2008 Work Items with an external database?

What should I use for syncing TFS 2008 Work Items with an external database? I just want basic functionality such as creating and updating work items in TFS so that they match our QA department's bug tracking software.
You can consider to use the Integration platform of TFS: http://tfsintegration.codeplex.com/
If you need to do it in an automated fashion, it is straightforward to do it with the API. Just modify your work item template to have an external reference for the bug-tracking system's key. That way you can keep things straight.
