Worklight - Enable Translation - translation

From the Worklight tutorial - 05_05_Enabling_translation.pdf (Sample app), we can
1. Define the translated message in messages.js
2. Reference the message in HTML as the ID of an HTML element with class="translate" or as a JavaScript object property Messages.<ID>.
3. Implement a languageChanged function to set a new value of Messages.<ID> and update the content to selected language.
In the example - languageChanged(lang) function:
$("#sampleText").html(Messages.sampleText);
$("#headerText").html(Messages.headerText);
$("#actionsLabel").html(Messages.actionsLabel);
is used to update the content to selected language.
From my understanding, it is required to write the above line of codes to update the content to selected language.
Is there a better way to update the content if there are lots of elements?

You can easily iterate over all elements by using jQuery selectors and update text, e.g. something like
$(".translate").each(function(index, element){
element = $(element);
var elementId = element.attr("id");
element.text(Messages[elementId]);
});

Webix: how to dynamically load components from external js file into a layout?

I would like to know how to update a row/col and or layout from an external js file on webix. Let's say I have a menu at the left of the screen (col[]) and want to update the right column based on a menu selection. If the menu is composed by
Customers
Orders
Products
And want to update the right column based on the selection calling customers.js, orders.js and products.js
Just like http://webix.com/demos/admin-app/#!/app/orders
That example is very advanced for me, I would like to learn some basic method.
Thanks
Oscar P
You can use webix.ui command or addView API to add a new UI to some specific place on the page.
webix.ajax("config.json", function(text){
$$("layout").addView( JSON.parse(text) );
})
or
webix.ajax("config.json", function(text){
webix.ui( JSON.parse(text), $$("cell_to_replace"));
})
Aquatic,
I also found out an example with .showBatch() API but the console shows "Uncaught TypeError: $$(...).addView is not a function" on both functions, are those part of PRO version? what is wrong?
My code is:
$$("workArea").addView("clientes");
or
$$("workArea").showBatch("batClientes");
on:{
onMenuItemClick:function(id) {
$$("workArea").addView(id);
}
}

How would you auto format hyperlinks using meteor

I am working on a chat room application and would like to auto format hyperlinks so they can be visited without copy/paste.
I found autolink.js and was able to get it to work using a static HTML template but have not been able to get it working with meteor.
Any suggestions?
Edit -
Meteor Version 0.6.1
Chatroom Application - https://github.com/SmashBrando/chatroom
Autolink.js - https://github.com/bryanwoods/autolink-js
(this is not setup as it did not work)
Put this in the helper you want to display the hyperlink. Assuming you've got the autolink.js all set up in your /client/lib folder just use it with your helper
e.g
client js
Template.hello.greeting = function() {
return "This is a link to Google http://google.com".autoLink()
}
and you need to make sure your HTML uses handlebars that can give html output (thats with 3 curly braces either side instead of 2):
html in your template
{{{greeting}}}
This should output
This is a link to Google http://google.com
Using transform to autolink on cursors
When using a handlebars helper that returns a cursor such as Messages.find() in your code you need to transform your collection. So with your code you need to alter the return value:
Template.messages.messages = function () {
return Messages.find({}, { sort: {time: -1}, transform: function(doc) {
if(doc.message) doc.message = doc.message.autoLink()
return doc;
}
});
};
A transform changes the documents in your collection, so in the above each one's message is autoLinked.
You also need to let let handlebars display this as clickable links by altering your handlebars for the HTML to use 3 curly braces to make sure your 's aren't escaped.:
<template name="message">
<p><strong>{{name}}:</strong> {{{message}}}</p>
</template>

Using sortable with Tag-it jqueryui

I've been using the tag-it plugin from https://github.com/aehlke/tag-it (demo - http://aehlke.github.com/tag-it/examples.html).
In this code there is an option to display the inputted tags in another input, textarea etc. First option -
$('#singleFieldTags').tagit({
availableTags: sampleTags,
singleField: true,
singleFieldNode: $('#mySingleField')
});
Here the id - #singleFieldTags is the inputting field which is a list like <ul and id - #mySingleField displays the 'list-ordered' tags with commas between each.
All the tags that are added and removed in the #singleFieldTags appear in the #mySingleField. Since there is no built-it sortable function with tag-it, adding a sortable() to change the order of tags in #singleFieldTags, does not change the order of tags in #mySingleField.
The second option is a plain with only #singleFieldTags as follows :-
$('#singleFieldTags').tagit({
availableTags: sampleTags,
});
Although in tag-it.js there is a , the value does not appear in the mysql table after submitting the php form as the above list of tags is placed between <li></li>.
How is it possible to make the tags sortable and ensure that the same arrangement of tags in the list field <ul to be displayed in the <textarea as in First Option? Or How can the second option of sorting tags within a single field <input work and enabling it to be submitted by a form?
EDIT: There is a similar plugin like Tag-it called tagit here: http://webspirited.com/tagit/ . This plugin has sortable with an input box meaning if the tags were interchanged, and when submitted on form it would appear in the order of the sort. However, the disadvantage being that it has custom themeroller themes these are not similar and cannot even be linked to the ones at jQuery UI (jqueryui.com).
But on the other hand, the tag-it plugin (not tagit), can be loaded with these themes but does not provide the sortable function.
Here's a solution that uses the tag-it plugin, because I understand that your missing functionality is explained in your quote "...adding a sortable() to change the order of tags in #singleFieldTags, does not change the order of tags in #mySingleField".
In order to have "#mySingleField" reflect the new sort order, I'm adding a handler to the stop event of sortable():
$('#singleFieldTags').sortable({
stop: function(event,ui) {
$('#mySingleField').val(
$(".tagit-label",$(this))
.clone()
.text(function(index,text){ return (index == 0) ? text : "," + text; })
.text()
);
}
});
and
$('#singleFieldTags2').siblings(".tagit").sortable({
stop: function(event,ui) {
$('#singleFieldTags2').val(
$(".tagit-label",$(this))
.clone()
.text(function(index,text){ return (index == 0) ? text : "," + text; })
.text()
);
console.log( $('#singleFieldTags2').val() ); // just for reference
}
});
Here is a jsfiddle that demonstrates the functionality
(added functionality for single input field)

jquery mobile trigger('create') callback function

I am using jquery mobile and using the $().trigger('create') function to initiate it. I need a callback after this function is done modifying the html with the new styling. Is this possible?
I need this because i need the new dimensions of the screen after an ajax load of new content.
I would use TriggerHandler(). You can bind to your custom event...
See the DEMO at the bottom of the link:
http://api.jquery.com/triggerHandler/
I found that the "updatelayout" event gets fired when I do a x$.trigger("create"). This from some js using Backbone...
var content$ = this.$el.find("#somediv");
content$.on('updatelayout', function () { alert("woo hoo"); });
content$.trigger("create"); // add some JQM magic, wait for the 'woo hoo'
From the jQuery api:
"This event is triggered by components within the framework that dynamically show/hide content, and is meant as a generic mechanism to notify other components that they may need to update their size or position."
It turns out that there is a devil in the detail. Not all triggered JQM content leads to a JQ "updatelayout" event. I had to add a wrapper div with 'data-role="controlgroup" in another case to get it to fire. More digging required...

How to select current page or by page id using jqmData

I have a multi-page document and I'm binding to the pageshow event of page "myId":
$('#myId').live('pageshow', renderMyIdTempalates);
I'm applying my JSON templates with PURE like this
function renderMyIdTempalates(event) {
$.mobile.showPageLoadingMsg();
var $page = $("#myId");
// do ajax call
$page.children( ":jqmData(role=header)" ).directives(...).render(data);
$page.children( ":jqmData(role=content)" ).directives(...).render(data);
$.mobile.hidePageLoadingMsg();
}
Initially I was using
$('#myId').directives(...).render(data);
to apply my templates. This caused problems since the selector didn't include the jqm attributes. So I used the jqmData method to grab the header and content to apply my templates. This works fine, but how do I select the entire document that I'm working with? I would prefer to apply my templates to the entire document once.
I tried:
$(":jqmData(role=page)") // selects all pages
$(":jqmData(id=myId)") // no luck
Any ideas?
the selector
div:jqmData(id="myID")
should work. just remember that myID should not be the id of that div.That page div should have a parameter data-id="myID"
