I have a web service located at www.mysite.com/qbwebservice.asmx using the QBXML SDK. If I have the code for QBWebService.asmx on my machine, can I attach a process to QBWEBConnector.exe and do remote debugging?
I have tried, however my breakpoint is never hit. Should I attach to another process?
The QBWebService.asmx code is not executing directly in QBWEBConnector.exe, so it won't do any good debugging that. The QBWebService.asmx code is executing on the web server, so you need to debug it there.

When I am trying to buid on TFS build server I got the following error:
Error CS2012: Cannot open 'xx.dll' for writing -- 'The process cannot access the file 'xx.dll' because it is being used by another process.'
Could anyone please help out with that?
If you are developing a web application or anything of the like make sure that your server process (usually IISExpress or something) is not being run.
Kill all the processes that maybe consuming your compiled code.
Alternatively, you can download Lockhunter and see which program is locking that file.
The situation: I have a mvc.net web page which, when called, runs a batch file on my server using System.Diagnostics.Process.Start and cmd.exe. The batch file contains a line that runs "svn.exe update myfilepath" and should therefore update the files on the server.
What's happening?
- the batch file is running, but the call to svn.exe does nothing, nor produces any error messages.
- if I run the batch file by double clicking, the svn command DOES run successfully.
I guess this is a security issue, but I'm no expert on this and I cannot make any headway.
The site is hosted on Windows Server 2008 R2 and the app pool is using the ApplicationPoolIdentity system. I have tried running the app pool as Network Service and also adding Network Service as a user that can Read/Execute to svn.exe.
Please help!
This could be proxy related. It's possible that you access the Internet via a proxy, but that the user profile for the app pool identity isn't configured like this. You may need to use a domain account that you can log on as in order to create a suitable user profile. You will also need to make sure IIS is loading the profile by ticking the appropriate option.
(Another possibility is that the working directory for the process you are starting is not set correctly to the root of your Subversion working copy. We've established this wasn't the problem in your case.)
im trying to host my website developed in ASP.net4.0 in Ultidev's casini webserver 2.0.
bt when i try to host the same or click on http::/localhost:port, im getting following error.
Utidev webserver's windows service not running.
I dont hav clue on the windows service it's expecting.
Do i need to install any other dependencies ?
Please look at the error pic.

The host process for that application, DefaultSharedHostProcess, is having trouble starting. Look in the Windows Event Log, as well as "UWS.Installer.log.txt", "RegRepairTrace.txt" and "AppRegTrace.txt" files in the "%ProgramFiles%\UltiDev\Web Server" folder.
As there are a variety of circumstances which can lead to this error, you will need to edit your question and add in the relevant error details you discover from the logs, or go start a thread on UltiDev's support forum. For instance, I encountered this error because of a permissions issue to machine.config in a .NET 4 folder.
Ran into this today, and found if I recycle the host process, I was up and running.
In the UltiDev Web Server Explorer window on the left side, click on the Default Shared Host Process.
On the right side, you'll see a button named "Recycle Host Process". Click it, and answer Yes.
After this, the Windows Service started up, and I was able to communicate with my web app.
I am thinking the modified dlls will create a log file some where in the remote system so I can open it later after load test but all I found was a log file in $(SystemRoot)\Temp\EQATECProfilerLogs saying nothing other than app started. Do I need to install EQATEC profiler on the remote server?

This scenario is adressed in this EQATEC forum thread:
A profiled app needs to be told when we want it to produce its profiling report. For plain apps this is simple and has therefore been automated: when Main exits. But your web-service has no similar "exit point" - it just keeps on running until you kill it.
Therefore you have to explicitly/manually tell the profiled web-service to take a snapshot. The easiest way is to simply run the profiler on the same machine as the web-service is running on: when the web-service is starting up it will automatically connect to the profiler and you can then run your tests and control/dump timing info at will using the "take snapshot" and "clear counters"-buttons.
Alternatively, you can make a reference to the supplied runtime-module from within your code and make explicit calls to the API (TakeSnapshot etc) precisely where you want in your code. The runtime-modules reside in C:\Program Files\EQATEC\EQATECProfiler\RuntimeDLL.
I have run into a situtation where frequently when debugging a ISAPI Dll (TWebModule) running under Apache I get errors. The caption on the error box is "Debugger Fault Notification" and contained in the message is, among other things:
"c:\program files\Apache\bin\httpd.exe faulted with message......."
When this happens the cpu window pops up, and I have to hit the "OK" button on the error message. I might have to do this 3 - 5 times before program flow continues.
This is happening on my laptop. I have a desktop with the same exact configuration (as far as I know) and I don't have this problem. Both operating systems are XP. So obviously there is some setting or outdated file somewhere.
Also, I have noticed if first run my website when Apache is not in the debugging envrironment it seems not to have this problem. (i.e. start apache in the services, run my web app, stop the service, and then debug it within the Delphi environment).
Any ideas???
While it doesn't directly answer the how to debug using Apache, another alternate debugging technique which works well is to use idDebugger (near the bottom of that page). It will allow you to debug ISAPI DLL's directly from the IDE without having to start/stop services. I now never develop ISAPI DLL's without it.
To avoid this and other problems, I've started xxm. It's an alternative to TWebModule, and uses a separate wrapper to run with IIS, but there's also an Apache, FireFox and IE wrapper! It also uses mixed-HTML-Delphi-source and the development-mode wrappers do the parsing and an auto-compile to give a web-script-like environment.
Also the InternetExplorer plugin works great in the debugger (with iexplore.exe as host application).
Error code 0xC0000008 is Status_Invalid_Handle. That can be thrown by CloseHandle, for example, when you try to close a handle that either was never open or was already closed. The error might not occur when you're running outside the debugger because the API won't throw an exception unless it's being debugged.
If you're getting that exception in code that the debugger doesn't have access to, then the debugger will display the CPU window instead. Look at the call stack to find the place in your code closest to where the exception came from.
It's also possible that it's not occurring in your code at all. Try doing your same debug routine without your module installed. Do you still get errors?
