I am using devise and faye. and I want to track all online users. so i thought of including a faye extension. in faye/faye_current_user.rb . when i am using current_user.id in faye_current_user.rb it is throwing undefined variable error.
If you have anyother easy way to fetch online users please help me out.
The problem is that the "current_user" method from devise isn't being called before your method inside of faye_current_user.rb.
A working solution is dependent upon the where this file is located and how your set current_user before calling the methods within that file.

I build an app in RoR which is on heroku. And I want to send a fax every time an order is taking place. What will be the best option for me?
Thanks
You could use InterFAX or eFaxCorporate. I don't think any of these APIs come pre-integrated with Heroku though. The use of InterFAX from a Ruby environment is documented on this book.

I want to make an emailing application but I wanted to know if there is maybe already an application that provides their source code so I could get a head start. Like maybe just the simple concept of placing emails in a table view and retrieving them from a server. If there is anything out there please let me know.
If you do a google search, you should be able to find what you are looking for. Here are some I found.

Is there any technique to prevent spam post before active record saves its record.
I was just thinking of putting before_filter, in which it judges if the registered keyword is included in parameters past, and it forces to redirect.
Is it normal way? or it slows down the system teribbly as the spam keywords get more?
I'd use a service like Akismet through one of these gems:

I was recently given a task to create a blog using Ruby on Rails. So I found a very helpful guide, which was very helpful for the blog. However, there seems to be a short supply of good Ruby-on-Rails guides on creating a wiki that is, up to date, makes sense and accurate.
You can check existing gems for wikis: https://www.ruby-toolbox.com/categories/wiki_apps
There are 3 rails-based wikis.
The most active is https://github.com/alno/irwi.
Other two, https://github.com/queso/signal-wiki and https://github.com/AndyMoreland/kii, was not updated for years, but still you can try to look through sources to get the base idea

I am new here and new to ruby on rails.
I am trying to create a rails app where users can create their own stock portfolios.
I want to use the yahoo finance gem but i don't know where to start .
I have created the rails login using devise .
Any tutorials out their ?
Thank you
You should prototype this on paper first, make a pretend portfolio on a notepad.
Once you have found what you want to store, create diagram out of it then make your models.
