Syncing Sublime Text 2 to Ruby on Rails - ruby-on-rails

Good morning,
I am currently following a tutorial video on ruby on rails. I created a server and my next step is to view the files associated with my server in sublime text 2. In the video, all the instructor does is open sublime text 2 and all the files/folders are already loaded. When I open sublime text 2, I get a blank document. I think I need to do something related to this link: http://www.sublimetext.com/docs/2/osx_command_line.html but I really don't understand the lingo or how to go about using those commands. Whenever I use them I get "command not found" Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Just open up Sublime Text 2
Then go to the menu bar and click -> Project, then select -> Add folder to project. From the pop up select your app folder and you should see all the files there :)
Hope this helps

Highlight text on Lyx documents

I am using Lyx for my homework (text+math) for a while now, but there are a few features I couldn't find and it is hard for me to believe they don't exist (even with some workaround).
Is there an option to highlight text on LYX?
example for how I'd like it to appear on my PDF product:
an example for PDF with highlighted text
I couldn't find it on the interface or settings.
I googled it, asked my T.As, posted a question on several Lyx related facebook communities - but couldn't find any solution.
On the other hand, no one told me "I have checked it and it's not possible" - so I keep looking.🤷‍♂️
Some add-on? Packages?
You can do this with "Soul" module. Here are the steps:
Download the module.
Put the module in the "layouts" directory inside your user directory. You can find your user directory by going to Help > About.
In LyX, do Tools > Reconfigure.
Restart LyX.
Open a document in LyX and go to Document Settings > Modules. After steps (3) and (4) you should now see "Soul Text Markup" as a module. Click "Add" and then "OK". Here is a screenshot (before clicking "Add"):
After (5), you can now select text in your document and go to Edit > Text Style > highlight.
More information is on the module wiki page. I have never heard of Facebook LyX communites. I suggest instead to join our lyx-users mailing list. There are a lot of knowledgeable and friendly LyX users helping each other out.

CKEditor: how to get clcikable links

I’ve followed Michael Harti Ruby on Rails tutorial and created ruby on rails app.
I’ve added some functionality as formatted text (link below) by implementing SKEditor.
ruby on rails: text filed formatting
So, right now text formatting is fine but the links are not clickable.
I mean, when users type for ex, http:://www/yahoo.com, they could not just click on it and go to yahoo.page. - it is just text instead of links.
I use
https://github.com/tsechingho/ckeditor-rails
and followed installation until Advanced Usage
to get formatted text.
How to make link clickable?
Advanced Usage said
“Add your app/assets/javascripts/ckeditor/config.js.coffee like..”
But right now, in my frame I have only app/assets/stylesheets…..
I create folder ckeditor and put file contents.css.scss and other files as well on it follow Advance Usage CKEditor(link above).
Is it right approach or should I do something differently?
But after those adding, I still have no clickable links……
How to get clcikable links using CKEditor
Thanks.
Notice the image below, I have first selected a text then clicked on link sign present at the second row of toolbar and finally added a link.
hope this helps

RubyMine searching with find usages

I have just bought a license to use Ruby Mine and am really struggling to learn how to use it. I keep having to go back to Text Mate to do simple things like searching.
I'm trying to find where i have defined a css div (called "category title"). From what I can gather, I need to use 'Find Usages' in Ruby Mine. Most times when I go to the edit/find menu, 'find usages' is greyed out. Then, if I click on the uppermost 'app' folder, and click find usages, it searches for 'app'. It doesn't recognise the search in the search bar. If i type the div name in the code and click alt/F7, it gives me a typo warning rather than a search option.
Does anyone know how to search the entire app (not just the specific file of the app) in RubyMine? I'm finding this incredibly frustrating.
Thank you
The command you need is Find in Path which will search your entire project, set of projects if they are open together, a specific director, etc. It has a bunch of options, including a regex search. For Mac, it is Command+Shift+f, for windows Ctrl+Shift+f
Checkout this site for keyboard reference.

You might also try shift+shift which is search everywhere, files, classes, symbols.

Made a blog application in Mac terminal window. How do I see it in text editor?

This may seem like a dumb question. I just started a Ruby on Rails class and my first assignment was to create a blog. I did that, but then the teacher tells everyone to look at the application in the text editor. I am using Textwrangler for mac. How do I see this application in text wrangler. Do I open Textwrangler and just do a search for the name of my application called blog?

Using Your Own Text Editor On a Server

Are there any hosting providers which allow you to use your own text editor to edit hosted files? At the moment, I'm using Namecheap and I can only edit hosted files through their code editor which means I need to edit the files locally and then upload them if I want to use my own text editor. I'd really like to develop a site directly on the server so skipping this step would save quite a bit of time.
Specifically, I'd like to use Sublime Text 2. Google didn't help so I'm hoping someone hear could point me in the right direction.
Thanks.
It looks like EasyEditors might have what you need. It appears that you can edit the files on their site.
