I am creating an application for reading html file .I have searched and found that we can easily convert a html to PDF format ,which is non-editable. And if we are using coretext ,then we can edit the fonts. In the server we are keeping one html file, which includes texts and tables.

How to extract bold text from pdf file programmatically using PDFKit in iOS?

I am using PDFKit to display my pdf files. I've integrated the searching functionality but I want to search only bold texts/words.
I'm wondering is it possible to do what I'm looking for or does Apple don't allow it? Because String data type is from Foundation class and UIFont is from UIKit.
I can search text only on the basis of lowercase, uppercase or text color. I've googled a lot. And I found that pdf files are made up of vectors. So, sometimes its difficult to extract the font-family of the text.
hm.. I guess you want to show all pdf files from your device's storage.
Generally.. if you want to show pdf file on your app, you should mapped the path and file name of the special folder into your code.
But I think you can't get the result you want with this method.
I am not sure In case this but probably you should use "UIDocumentPickerViewController".
I think also you need to set the value of documentTypes by [String(kUTTypePDF)] because you want to only show all the pdf.

The attributed string has the font attributes, using which you can achieve what you want.
pdfDocument.page(at: 0)?.attributedString

Creating Epub on the basis of Template

I have been working on creating Epub for my work. I have used Aspose to create the Epub. In this process numerous word document is merged together and single epub file is created. Now I am asked to create an EPub based on a template. I have been searching a way to do it but I am no where near to the solution. I haven't even found the template for Epub which will render smoothly over various devices IOS and android. Similarly I have no clue how I will achieve this task programmatically. If anyone out there have any idea please provide me an insight.
As you may know an ePub is a file that contains a lot of html pages. if you want to create a template based epub programmatically you should link this files to a css and modify the structure of the html as the template.
If I were you I would use a regex to edit the html files, get the contents and place this contents in a new html page. Once done that I would place the html page in the epub.
I suggest you please create the template document (DOTX) using MS Word. Import this template document into Aspose.Words' DOM, merge Word documents, do other document processing tasks, and save it to EPUB using Document.Save method. You may also create the template document programmatically using Aspose.Words. I work with Aspose as Developer evangelist.

Export data to XLS (not via CSV) on iOS

I need to export some data to an .XLS file, pdf, and print.
I already tried the simple solution: exporting it to .CSV with CHCSVWriter. It works for printing and saving it to pdf (I open the CSV in a UIWebView and get the PDF or print from there). However, to use the CSV to be open in excel has two main problems:
1 - First, as the name says, in the CSV the values are separated by commas, and in some versions of Excel, it requires the user to separate 'manually' in cells.
2 - I have hebrew characters, and I already tried all the string encodings, and can't have both hebrew and latin characters.
So, after giving up after days of trying to use CSV to solve the issues above, I gave up. How can I export my data to XLS?
The LibXL library provides this functionality for both xls and xlsx formats. There is no iOS version, but people say the iOS version is coming. You may want to contact LibXL support to confirm this.
EDIT:
The iOS version is available now.
This article explains how to programmatically create an Excel (.xls) file without using any external library. It just opens a file stream and it writes XML contents straight to it.
It is written in C#, but the core information coming out of it is the XML formatting used to create nodes and fill attributes for corresponding cell values and formatting.
Please consider I have not tried this myself, I found it while doing a search. Please feel free to ask if some C# bits are not clear. HTH

PDF generation in XCode

I am a newbie in iPhone development. I am planning to do a PDF application for iPhone. The functionality is:
User will type their input in a text field (which is going to be the content of the PDF file).
I have to modify the PDF file through code while saving (paragraphs, tables, bullets etc).
User can save it in their own name.
User can send the PDF file as attachment of MFMailComposer.
So I have searched and got many links. However I didn't find any leading details to create and modify a PDF file in iPhone/iPad.
Can anyone please provide me a good reference to do this. Are there any alternatives to do this?
I've used this reference: https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/drawingwithquartz2d/dq_pdf/dq_pdf.html
It contains theoretical explanations and source code examples
Please use the below link to download sample apps for PDF Reader/Viewer in iOS

Also please look at detail about pdf creation, manipulation etc in below links

If you were doing a Phonegap app I'd say got for jsPDF, which would enable you to create (basic) PDF files in Javascript. I don't do Obj-C, but a quick look on SO provides good links.

To retrieve the contents of .doc files?

I am working as a Software developer for Mobile Applications. I am developing an application in which i want to retrieve the contents of the .doc files that arrive on the Blackberry mobile as an Email Attachment Part. Whenever i am retrieving the contents of the .txt files, the code written for the mobile is retrieving the accurate contents but in case of .doc files, it is displaying a lot of junk material in the header and footer of the actual contents.
So, my problem is that how can i get rid of this additional junk material as i want to retrieve only the actual contents of the .doc files. Please reply
Thanks
You can get the specifications of the doc-Format from Microsoft. Though, I don't know if they're complete or even useful. Another guess would be to have a look at Projects which have implemented it, like OpenOffice.org.
