I am attempting to create a header label and to indent it so that it appears above the table view and not flush to the left side of the screen. I've implemented the following code, which is altering the appearance of the header label, but not the position.

return ur headerView, not headerLabel. That will solve ur issue.
i suggest you to change this lines of code:
UIView *headerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,tableView.frame.size.width,30)];
UILabel *headerLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10,0, headerView.frame.size.width, 30)];
with:
UIView *headerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,100,30)];
UILabel *headerLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10,0, 100, 30)];
then increments or decrements value 10 for padding left, and 0 for padding top...

The problem is that the text isn't shown.
If I suppress the backgroundColor of the main header view, or if I replace it with a transparent one as if the Label awas under the main header view.
So I added the line:
[tableHeaderView bringSubviewToFront:tableHeaderLabel];
but this doesn't fix the issue.
I can't use the Label directly as the tableViewHeaderView directly becaus I want to left space at the left of the text.
Anybody have an idea to help me?

The only problem you have here is a typo in the first line, initialized an UIView wrongly as an UILabel. The compiler will not compliant as UILabel is a subclass of UIView.

but then I when I run this I do not see the label at the bottom of my code, I am it to my view, and then set my view as to footer, I see the extra space but not the label?

I have a scenario where my Table holds list of products. This list has a footerView with a button added to the footerView. I could able to see/scroll complete footerView along with the button when I open the already created Product List. But I cannot see complete button in the footerView when I create & Save the Product list for the first time.
I am using below code:

So the section header width frame is fixed.
but For different orientation and way of presenting the UITableViewController the cell width (iOS6) is changed - as u can see on the screenshots. But I need to make offset for the section title and cell equal.

The new iOS 7 has changed the default font color of the section headers in tableview. The problem is that my background image makes the text hard to read. I know I could change my background but I would like to change the color of all the textviews. I have changed the uinavigationbar color in my apps delegate before. I would like to use something like that for tableview if possible. I have read this method:
