I built a dissector for my WireShark version (after doing all that steps of installing cygwin etc. for building WireShark). Now, my dissector works only on my build of WireShark (ver 1.9 ... ), and not on, lets say, the newest WireShark version 1.8.4 that I can download from www.wireshark.org.
I saw that it is possible to create an installer of my version, which I can spread, and then my dissector will also work for others...
But I wanted to ask if it possible some how, by changing the version some where, to make my dissector relevant for other/older versions of WireShark which are official releases.

edit: I tried downloading 1.8 source, building it, then building my dissector... but the official 1.8 release doesn't recognize it:
"Couldn't load module C:\Program Files\Wireshark\plugins\1.8.3\mydissector.dll: `C:\Program Files\Wireshark\plugins\1.8.3\mydissector.dll': %1 is not a valid Win32 application."
Hmm. The best I can say is get the SVN revision 45260 (on how to, see Stack Overflow question Checkout a specific revision from subversion from the command line) of the code, and compile your plugin again (check the SVN revision graph if you want to select a different version. You'll have the option to do this by right clicking the folder, and looking under the TortoiseSVN option). I just download the 1.8 source, and it seems too short (291 MB), and it's giving me the same problem, and I am not too certain if using it is the right thing.
Also make sure you're using Visual C++ 2010 to compile.
I notice you've asked the same question in ask.wireshark forum. A better solution may be provided there.

I want to configure SonarQube so it can analyze Delphi project too, and when I search online I saw there used to be a delphi plugin for SonarQube. But when I look at the plugins with the latest build it doesn't show the delphi plugin.
Is the plugin still available in an other way?
Or is it possible to configure SonarQube for delphi without the plugin?
As of G. Ann response was actually discontinued puglin for Sonar, but searching the internet, and recently (3 days) the developer Fabricio Columbus made it happen!

To analyze the files of language X, you need a plugin for language X that recognize's X's structure, syntax &etc. Without that you can't derive metrics (LOC, complexity, &etc.) or recognize bad code (i.e. raise issues for antipatterns.) So to answer your second question first, you won't be able to analyze Delphi code without some kind of Delphi plugin.
The Delphi plugin was deprecated quite a while ago because it seemed to suffer from a lack of interest all around & didn't evolve to maintain compatibility with the platform as it evolved.
If you look, you can find downloads of the old plugin, but to use it, you'd have to retrogress to a quite old version of the platform, & I don't recommend that. I'm not sure how far back you'd have to go - you could crack open the jar and get that from the pom - but it looks like the last mailing list activity on this plugin was Feb. 2012. So again, I don't recommend going this route.
So I upgraded to 1.4 for a project I am contributing to (in development/testing branch of course) and ran into some problems and thus we want to use Dart 1.3.6 again. However, I cannot find this.
Does anyone know where I could download it?

I have been having this issue with OpenCV 2.4.2 that it doesn't really get installed properly with Microsoft VS 2010 Express; It is always missing a dll file or two doesn't matter what I follow by Googling. Also, Visual Studio 2010 Express is only valid for a few days, so it is acceptable that VS will not behave well with OpenCV at that point. However, when I changed my IDE to CodeBlocks, it is even stranger because now I have missing dll files and also "Missing Entry Point" error because of a duplicate .dll file. I found this guide and followed what it told me to do:

But it still doesn't work!! What I am after is a complete and definitive solution to integrating OpenCV (preferrably 2.4.2 version) on a Windows 7 64-bit machine. I have been turning Stackoverflow inside out but no solution is working for me. The problems are
WHEN USING VISUAL STUDIO:
Missing dll file (e.g. libopencv_core242d.dll, etc.)
WHEN USING CODE BLOCKS:
First it complains that libstdc++-6.dll is missing. When I download it to my C:\MinGW\libexec\gcc\mingw32\4.7.0 folder, it stops complaining about this. But now it complains that there is any entry point problem and some other .dll file is missing!!!
If someone has managed to make it work by hook or crook, I will be more than happy to know what it is, IN DEPTH. I don't believe that such an important library can be so stupidly distributed so that developers have to struggle night and day to make this work.
FYI, I have tried even the OPenCV website and frankly their instructions are a bit useless. Also, all the necessary information e.g. adding PATH, adding includes and libraries, etc. Please someone point me to the right direction as it has been two days and I cannot get anywhere. It is literally stopping my job now :(
As an answer, but probably a very simple one, I did the following and got rid of the problem:
1) Uninstalled code::blocks completely from the PC and downloaded the IDE-only version (i.e. withouth MinGW compiler), then installed it.
2) Downloaded the latest stable version of MinGW, installed, and added C:\MinGW\bin to PATH
3) Followed rest of the instructions from [link] http://conanhung.wordpress.com/2012/05/23/opencv-2-2c-codeblocks-and-mingw-got-it-working-on-windows/
4) Just to be sure, copied the opencv .dll files from the build folder (i.e. the one that you have created "make" and "install" files using CMake) to the debug (i.e. the executables') folder.
This will fix the problems. In case, it doesn't it might be that you need to add some environment variables.
I'm trying to install DWScript in XE2 and I seem to be struggling. I can't find any up to date installation instructions, and the older instructions I did find no longer seems applicable.
I've tried both head from the svn repository, and also one of the previous releases and haven't had much luck with either.
I've added the source directory to my library path.
When I opened dwsLib originally I had a TdwsUnit not found message, although it appears to compile. Both dwsLibDesignOnly and dwsLibRuntime.dpk have an error about dwsCodeGen which is missing, and it appears there is a whole JSCodeGen directory in Libraries which doesn't exist but should.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You can try revision r1462.
After that revision project owner decide to close source for JavaScript CodeGen and contunue development only for MobileStudio product.
The CodeGen is no longer maintained in the SVN, and the dpks were a bit out of date (updated now). You can just remove the units/classes it doesn't find from the .dpk

I'm using flex (lexical analyzer, not Adobe Flex) on a project. However, I want to be able to compile on Windows platforms as well, but the Windows version's newest version is only 2.5.4a, so it won't compile my file for version 2.5.35. And no, I can't downgrade to the highest supported Windows version.
Anyone know about plans to upgrade the windows version, or have a suggestion to compile on windows anyway?
You can ask on the mailing list, or get involved in the Flex project yourself. I think the code-base for Flex has remained static for a while, but I don't know who maintains the Windows port. In the interim...
I would recommend including the produced source in your project.
Generate the lexer on a Linux system to produce your lex.c/lex.h files (or whatever)
Include those files in your Win32 C source before you build
If you don't have direct access to a Linux system, a virtual machine might be a good idea. The Flex source should be complaint to some C standard that builds on Windows, but most of the POSIX differences can be altered to use Win32 API fairly easily.
Maybe distribute as:
/src/source_files.c
/src/lex.l
/src/win32_lex/lex.c
This way systems with a modern flex can generate the source from the lex file, and Windows systems compiling the source can use the complementary pre-processed C files.
Short of using some user-space POSIX (Cygwin or whatever).
A little bit of tweaking required, but isn't that portability for you!
Windows builds of flex 2.5.35 do exist, but unfortunately they are not self contained. You can download the MINGW build here, and the Cygwin build here; see also another stackoverflow question. Each build requires that its respective (MINGW or Cygwin) kernel be installed.
