when i click the add image button a new image appears
when i click the new image can i revert it back to my previous state using jquery...showing the previous image with add image on hover
http://jsfiddle.net/6MmMe/37/
providing my js code below
$("div").hover(
function () {
$("<div>add image</div>").click(function() {
$(this).parent().unbind("hover").children("img").attr("src", "http://www.onlinegrocerystore.co.uk/images/goodfood.jpg");
$(this).remove();
}).appendTo(this);
},
function () {
$(this).find("div:last").remove();
}
);
The problem is that you are handling the first div, then removing it. There are a few ways to accomplish what I think are your goals.
I would recommend doing it with hide/show for easier management.
If you want to do this in jQuery, you can do it like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head><script type='text/javascript' src='http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.8.2.js'></script>
<style type='text/css'>
div div { color:red; display:none}
</style>
<script>
$(function(){
$('body > div').hover(function(){
// show "add image"
$('div', this).show();
}, function(){
// hide "add image" and reet image src.
$('div', this).hide();
$('img', this).attr("src", "http://imgs.zinio.com/magimages/500299032/2012/416238969_170.jpg");
})
// top-level click handler
.click(function(){
$('img', this).attr("src", "http://www.onlinegrocerystore.co.uk/images/goodfood.jpg");
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div>
<img src="http://imgs.zinio.com/magimages/500299032/2012/416238969_170.jpg" alt="Nov-12" title="Food Network Magazine" class="cover">
<div href="#">add image</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
If you want to do this mostly in CSS, just toggling a class with jQuery, you can do this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head><script type='text/javascript' src='http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.8.2.js'></script>
<style type='text/css'>
body > div {
background-image: url(http://imgs.zinio.com/magimages/500299032/2012/416238969_170.jpg);
width: 170px;
height:222px;
position:relative;
}
body > div.newImage:hover {
background-image: url(http://www.onlinegrocerystore.co.uk/images/goodfood.jpg);
width: 249px;
height:274px;
}
div div {
color:red;
position:absolute;
bottom:0;
margin-bottom:-16px;
display:none;
}
div:hover div {
display:block;
}
</style>
<script>
$(function(){
$('body > div').click(function(){
$(this).addClass('newImage');
}).hover(false, function(){
$(this).removeClass('newImage');
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div>
<div>add image</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
If you really prefer to add/remove things, you can do it like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head><script type='text/javascript' src='http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.8.2.js'></script>
<style type='text/css'>
div div { color:red;}
</style>
<script>
$(function(){
$('body > div').hover(function(){
// show "add image"
$(this).append('<div>add image</div>');
}, function(){
// hide "add image" and reset image src.
$('div', this).remove();
$('img', this).attr("src", "http://imgs.zinio.com/magimages/500299032/2012/416238969_170.jpg");
})
// top-level click handler
.click(function(){
$('img', this).attr("src", "http://www.onlinegrocerystore.co.uk/images/goodfood.jpg");
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div>
<img src="http://imgs.zinio.com/magimages/500299032/2012/416238969_170.jpg" alt="Nov-12" title="Food Network Magazine" class="cover">
</div>
</body>
</html>

I need to upload different text files each containing some popups.
I am using JQM 1.4.5 and I'm pretty sure I don't make any syntax errors.
My main program has a menu and the user can choose the text.
At this point, I have to upload the text file and the popup file related to that text.
All the attempts I've made using the '.load' function work for text but not for popups.
Can you give me some suggestions?

Here are some suggestions to achieve what You want:
Basically, IMHO it is better not to create and destroy again and
again a JQM widget. If possible, create just at the beginning all
needed widgets and change the content, i.e. text and images
when You need it.
In my example I will show You both: dynamic destroying and instancing
a JQM table and dynamic changing the content of one existing popup.
Please, note that for a JQM table the thead and th tags are mandatory.
In Your example, You may need to show some data related to a table
row, but in my example I will attach the popup data to a single cell.
I believe, this is a more flexible approach.
The simplest way to create such a relation is to set a custom
data-attribute. You can call it whatever You want. Just for instance,
data-info: popup
After that, the popup content will be retrieved from the clicked
anchor, just before the popup will be open.
For the menu, instead of push-buttons I am using radio-buttons,
so the code will be much simpler, using just one event handler.
Moreover, it will be nice if You tell the user that something is
going on, by using a spinner and a visual feedback after the table
data has been downloaded (table fade-in).
Here is the most relevant code:
$(document)
.ready(function () {
$('input[name=files]').on('change', function (e) {
var path = e.target.id, $table = $("#tableMax").hide().table("destroy");
$.mobile.loading("show");
$.when($.get(path + '/popup.html'), $.get(path + '/text.html')).done(
function (popupData, tableData) {
$.mobile.loading("hide");
/* each data[0] will contain the response text */
$table.html(tableData[0]).table({create: function() {
var allPopups = $('<div></div>').append(popupData[0]);
$(this).fadeIn("slow").data("mobile-table").allHeaders.each(function() {
$(this).data("cells").each(function(){
$(this).find("a[href='#pp']").each(function () {
var popupLink = $(this).attr("data-info"),
popupContent = $(allPopups).find(popupLink);
$(this).data("popup-content", popupContent);
});
});
});
}
});
});
});
})
.on('pagebeforechange', function (e, ui) {
var link = ui.options.link, ctx = link && link.context, hash = ctx && ctx.hash;
if (hash == '#pp') $(hash).empty().html($(ctx).data('popup-content'));
});

I'm creating a leave system and I've linked the database with Asp.net. Inside the mvc project there's an HTML page that I use as my landing page, it has 2 buttons. One button for 'Admin' and other for 'Staff'. I want to hide some of the text-boxes if the 'Staff' button is clicked. How do I go about achieving this?
I have created sample html, you can use jquery to show and hide your textbox based on click
if you are using mvc then your textbox is #Html.TextBox or
with asp.net set ClientIDMode="Static" - check here
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<input type="text" id="AdminTxt" />
<button id="showAdmin">Show Admin</button>
<button id="showStaff">Show Staff</button>
<script>
$( "#showAdmin" ).click(function() {
$("#AdminTxt").show();
});
$( "#showStaff" ).click(function() {
$("#AdminTxt").hide();
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
You can use the attach en detach functions with JQuery.
So if you have a button called Admin
<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>detach demo</title>
<style>
p {
background: yellow;
margin: 6px 0;
}
p.off {
background: black;
}
</style>
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<p>Hello</p>
how are
<p>you?</p>
<button>Attach/detach paragraphs</button>
<script>
$( "p" ).click(function() {
$( this ).toggleClass( "off" );
});
var p;
$( "button" ).click(function() {
if ( p ) {
p.appendTo( "body" );
p = null;
} else {
p = $( "p" ).detach();
}
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
The jQUery UI draggables sample named Default says that:
Enable draggable functionality on any DOM element.
But I'm not able to make them work on buttons elements.
I modified the Default sample to look like this:
I just changed the div element to a button one with type="button":
<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>jQuery UI Draggable - Default functionality</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="../../themes/base/jquery.ui.all.css">
<script src="../../jquery-1.9.1.js"></script>
<script src="../../ui/jquery.ui.core.js"></script>
<script src="../../ui/jquery.ui.widget.js"></script>
<script src="../../ui/jquery.ui.mouse.js"></script>
<script src="../../ui/jquery.ui.draggable.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="../demos.css">
<style>
#draggable { width: 150px; height: 150px; padding: 0.5em; }
</style>
<script>
$(function() {
$( "#draggable" ).draggable();
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<button type="button" id="draggable" class="ui-widget-content">
<p>Drag me around</p>
</button>
<div class="demo-description">
<p>Enable draggable functionality on any DOM element. Move the draggable object by clicking on it with the mouse and dragging it anywhere within the viewport.</p>
</div>
</body>
</html>
How I can make the draggables functionality work on a button element?
Using cancel: false seems to work for me.
$(function() {
$( "#draggable" ).draggable({
cancel: false
});
});
jsfiddle
I guess without the cancel only the default click event of the button fires and with cancel you prevent the default click event.
From what I read, the $(#selector).dialog("destroy") is supposed to remove all the added jquery ui elements and return the element, the dialog attached to, back to its original DOM position. I wrote a test html and it is not doing either. In firebug, after I clicked close, it simply makes it becomes invisible (display:none). Am I doing something wrong? Below is my test html:
<html>
<head>
<meta content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv="Content-Type" />
<style type="text/css">
.modalDialogPopup {
display:none;
border:1px solid #4f8cc5;
}
</style>
<script src="/resources/default/1_0/js/jquery.js?v=081814" type="text/javascript" ></script>
<script src="/resources/default/1_0/js/jquery-ui-1.8.20.custom.min.js?v=081814" type="text/javascript" ></script>
<script>
var testPopUp = {
popUpID : '#testPopUp',
close:
function() {
$(this.popUpID).dialog("close");
},
open:
function() {
$(this.popUpID).dialog({
modal: true,
autoOpen: false,
title: 'Test Outer Pop Up',
dialogClass:'modalDialogPopup',
resizable: true,
close: function( event, ui ) {
$(this.popUpID).dialog( "destroy" );
alert('outer Pop Up Destroyed? '+$(testPopUp.popUpID).attr("class"));
}
});
$(this.popUpID).dialog("open");
}
}
$(document).ready(function() {
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="OuterDiv">
<a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="testPopUp.open(); return false;" >Open PopUp</a>
<div id="testPopUp" class="modalDialogPopup">
<div id="testPopUpDiv" style="overflow: auto; display: table;">
<div id="testPopUpContent" >
This is a Pop Up Test
<br/>
<br/>
<a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="testPopUp.close(); return false;" >Close PopUp</a>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
Found two problems that cause the destroy to not working:
1) on this line ==>
close: function( event, ui ) {$(this.popUpID).dialog( "destroy" );
I shouldn't use this.popUpID. It should be testPopUp.popUpID, like below,
close: function( event, ui ) {$(testPopUp.popUpID).dialog( "destroy" );
Once I did that, it starts to remove all the added jquery ui elements. But it still does not put the element (id="testPopUp") back to it's original DOM position, which is resolved after I done #2 below.
2) Change my jquery ui version to jquery-ui-1.10.4.custom.min.js.
As you can see below.. I would like to embed a simple HTML form in a hidden DIV.. I would like to SHOW that div on click.. Folding out the DIV and allowing the user to complete the form.. Once the Form Submit happens.. I would like to resume the action i.e. proceed to google.com
I'm stuck on the slide out and redirect behavior.. (is it possible to force the toggle open until form completion is successful?)
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<style>
body{
font-family:Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;
font-size:14px;}
.slidingDiv {
height:300px;
background-color: #99CCFF;
padding:20px;
margin-top:10px;
border-bottom:5px solid #3399FF;
}
.show_hide {
display:none;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<div id="container">
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".slidingDiv").hide();
$(".show_hide").show();
$('.show_hide').click(function(){
$(".slidingDiv").slideToggle();
});
});
</script>
check out google.com!<br />
<div class="slidingDiv">
<form>
some form... AJAX post
</form>
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
So you're looking for a link that triggers a form, and then after that form is submitted, to proceed with the link?
You need to disable the default behavior of the link and cache the URL. Then slide open the form and allow the user to do whatever. When the user submits the form (which is either a "Are you sure you want to leave?" question or a collection form processed with with AJAX) you then proceed with the link.
You want something to the effect of (on http://jsfiddle.net/Sb6CD/ too):
CSS:
body{
font-family:Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;
font-size:14px;
}
.slidingDiv {
display:none;
height:300px;
background-color: #99CCFF;
padding:20px;
margin-top:10px;
border-bottom:5px solid #3399FF;
}
JS:
$(document).ready(function(){
$('a.show_hide').click(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
e.stopImmediatePropagation();
var url = $(this).attr('href');
$('.slidingDiv').slideDown();
$('form').submit(function() {
document.location = url;
return false;
})
});
});
I think I got your question. You want to follow the link only after the toggle is done sliding.. right?
This should be done like this:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".slidingDiv").hide();
$(".show_hide").show();
$('.show_hide').click(function(){
var el_link = $(this);
$(".slidingDiv").slideToggle(1000, function() {
document.location.href = el_link.attr('href');
});
return false;
});
});
</script>
Or something like this...
