We are using google apps as a company for almost 2 years now and we are pretty happy with it. with the introduction of Google Drive we are looking in a way to synchronize our network drive with the Google Drive for the complete Google Apps domain. This way we can make it possible for everyone to work from anywhere they like and have access to all the files from every user.
But somehow I can't figure out how this could be possible or even if it's possible. Is there anyone who has maybe done this before or can point me in the right direction?

I have curious about when I use a free version of Google Spreadsheet. Could Google be looking into our sheet file? Could they take some data to analyze something from our data like a company commercial, search engine something like that?
Could you guys please give me an answer for that thing, please.
Technically speaking if your data is private and you have not shared it with anyone then you should be the only one who has access to it. Private user data does not show up in Google searches.
This does not say that google couldn't open your file and see whats in it. I really doubt it as how would they know your data from the data owned by millions of other people and the cat pictures. Analysis of data only works if the data it self has meeting to the person doing the analysis your data likely only means something to you.
Google may do some analytics as to how often some types of files are accessed and how much data is in them. Personally i doubt that google will be looking in the actually spreadsheet. However I dont work from google and i dont think anyone here on stack can answer this question for you 100%.
You may want to consider reading though Google
Privacy & Terms and Google Privacy Policy. These files include information about what we can expect from Google in the way of protecting our data and what they use it for if at all.
Does Google offer a REST or Javascript API for creating and editing slides? I've been able to figure out how to interact with sheets and most of the other services offered as part of Docs/Drive, but haven't had any luck with Slides.
If there is no API, I'd be willing to create files directly myself, but I haven't been able to find any documentation on a Slides file format.
The Google Slides API was launched on 11/9/2016. It provides the ability to read, create, and edit Google Slides presentations.
I was looking into this too. Looks like it's been a requested feature since at least 2012, follow Issue Tracker Link
Right now the best I know of is to automate making a powerpoint file (e.g. use this library for python) and then upload it to google drive where it will autoconvert. Obviously there are many limitations to this strategy, but in a quick test it worked fine for something simple.
I would also love if Google provided an API that allows making slides like the various API calls for microsoft office.
After having embedded google drive files on my website (awesome feature), I found a minor drawback.
When clicking on one of the maps in the list, it will redirect/link the viewer on my page to the google drive site. However, I want to keep the viewer on my page and the folder to open within my own website.
Also I want other folders within these folders to open within the borders of my website, and so on and so forth.
The used code is simple:
The used website is Typo3 based.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
Thank you very much in advance; all replies and suggestions are highly appreciated!
After a quick search it seems to me this is more a hack than an official google feature, so probably there's no easy way for altering the behaviour of the stuff inside the iframe. I would rather recommend setting an outbound link and accepting the fact that you're hosting the files at Google.
In the future, there might (or might not) be a File Abstraction Layer Adapter for Drive coming up: http://wiki.typo3.org/FAL_Adapters. Well, probably not so soon. But for Dropbox!
I'm developing an iOS app that generate video files and have a social gallery for users to display their clips. After a lot of research I found that Google Drive would be perfect to fit my needs so I did some testing and sucessfully made the app upload the file to GDrive and everything.
Now I need to stream the uploaded file in a MPMoviePlayerViewController, for that I would need some kind of direct link, I'm right? After my initial tests I used the variable WebContentLink as a source URL and it worked flawlessly, I was really happy with the result, however now it doesn't work anymore, I don't know what happened and I think the method that I used is not realiable? I tried all the other possible links and none of them seems to work.
Can someone give a guidance about if this is really supported by Google Drive and how it's the best way to archive that in a reliable way?
Thank you very much !
I too encounter the same error when I try to download 28 times (testing) the same 24mb file.
However I realise if I am to download using the content owner ID, it does allow downloading after the 28th time

Sorry, you can't view or download this file at this time.
Too many users have viewed or downloaded this file recently. Please try accessing the file again later. If the file you are trying to access is particularly large or is shared with many people, it may take up to 24 hours to be able to view or download the file. If you still can't access a file after 24 hours, contact your domain administrator.
The experience for streaming files natively is not ideal right now, sorry. It is something Google are working on.
You are doing this correctly though. The webContentLink should use the user's quota, and that should be enough for most cases. If you can give some specific numbers, we can look at it.
The embed link is the best way to show it on a mobile device, but as you say won't work everywhere.
yes, google drive can be used for hosting and stream videos as you like. It can also be used as demo server for web projects. Here is how to host a website on Google drive.
So, a quick background. I make productivity apps (specifically CRM and Project Management). And I love the docs, spreadsheet and presentation products made by Google. Not surprisingly, my products have done a lot of "things" with Google Docs for a long time:
Create "native" (ie. Docs/Spreadsheets/Presentations) documents
Use native documents as templates
Link and modify permissions of any file in Docs/Drive
Upload any arbitrary file
etc.
What I'm confused about is what does Google want me to do on the labels on the buttons in my app. Right now, they all say "Google Docs". You're linking any arbitrary file to a presentation, you're linking it from "Google Docs". You're exporting a spreadsheet of time sheet entries, you're exporting it to "Google Docs". You upload a PDF, you uploaded it to Google Docs. Etc.
What I'm confused about is that, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it is a complete switch over to "Drive." I still see labels on the Google site for Google Docs. So, this is what I think the breakdown is:
If it is a Google "native" file, then it is Docs, else it is Drive. Thus, if your uploading any arbitrary file, that button should refer to drive. But if you are exporting a spreadsheet of data to the Google Spreadsheets format, then that is Docs.
Is this right at all? Does Google have some information somewhere?
Disclaimer: personal opinion
I would use Drive everywhere, except when specifically talking about the collaborative word processor provided in Google Drive, that is the Google Doc.
I would also make sure that all my integrations use the new Google Drive API.
There is reasonably good guidance here: https://developers.google.com/drive/branding
Google Docs and Google Drive are two seperate products from Google. They can work together, but they are still their own individual products and should be called their respective names when being used
