Create a tableview with cells that link to videos - ios

I want to create tableview cells that have a disclosure button that when pressed would link to a local video but I am having problems, when i click on the disclosure button the screen goes black, i am using arc. how can i go about this?
here's my sample code..What am i doing wrong
here is my header file
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#import <MediaPlayer/MediaPlayer.h>
#interface BIDVideosViewController : UIViewController
<UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource>
#property (nonatomic,strong) NSArray *tableList;
#end
Here is my .m file
#import "BIDVideosViewController.h"
#interface BIDVideosViewController ()
{
MPMoviePlayerController *moviePlayer;
}
#end
#implementation BIDVideosViewController
#synthesize tableList;
- (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil
{
self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil];
if (self) {
// Custom initialization
}
return self;
}
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
UITableView *table = [[UITableView alloc]initWithFrame:self.view.bounds];
[table setDelegate:self];
[table setDataSource:self];
[self.view addSubview:table];
NSArray *array = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:#"Gangan",#"SwimGood", nil];
self.tableList = array;
// Do any additional setup after loading the view.
}
- (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning
{
[super didReceiveMemoryWarning];
// Dispose of any resources that can be recreated.
}
-(NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
return [tableList count];
}
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *DisclosureButtonIdentifier = #"DisclosurebutotonIdentifier";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:DisclosureButtonIdentifier];
if (cell == nil)
{
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:DisclosureButtonIdentifier];
}
NSInteger row = [indexPath row];
NSString *rowString = [tableList objectAtIndex:row];
cell.textLabel.text = rowString;
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton;
return cell;
}
-(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView accessoryButtonTappedForRowWithIndexPath: (NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSString *thePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:#"Gangan" ofType:#"mp4"];
NSLog(#"path is ...%#", thePath);
NSURL *theurl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:thePath];
MPMoviePlayerController *moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:theurl];
[moviePlayer.view setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 460)];
[self.view addSubview:moviePlayer.view];
[moviePlayer prepareToPlay];
[moviePlayer play];
}

You don't have a UITableView or the required numberOfSectionsInTableView: and tableView:numberOfRowsInSection: methods.
Try adding
UITableView *table = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds];
[table setDelegate:self];
[table setDataSource:self];
[self.view addSubview:table];
To your viewDidLoad function.
Check out the delegate and data source documentation for the required methods (and available ones too) to properly implement a UITableView. Its nice to do it this way, since it handles everything (drawing and setup) for you. All you have to do is give it the values and it automatically draws it upon loading the data.

you can try like this
NSString *thePath=[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:#"animation" ofType:#"mov"];
NSLog(#" path is...%#",thePath);
NSURL *theurl=[NSURL fileURLWithPath:thePath];
MPMoviePlayerController *moviePlayer =[[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:theurl];
[moviePlayer.view setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 460)];
[self.view addSubview: moviePlayer.view];
//[moviePlayer setFullscreen:YES animated:NO];
[moviePlayer prepareToPlay];
[moviePlayer play];
its worked for me , hope work for you too

Create Custom UIView with Custom WebView and UISearchContoller

I'm working on an iOS app and I created an UIViewController where I put my components and it works fine .
Now I'm trying to create a Custom UIView and to put my WebView and my SearchController into . I spent a lot of time without success .
Here is my .m file and I hope some one can help me with :
#import "HomeViewController.h"
#define widthtScreen [UIScreen mainScreen].bounds.size.width
#define heightScreen [UIScreen mainScreen].bounds.size.height
#interface HomeViewController () <UISearchResultsUpdating,UISearchBarDelegate,UIBarPositioningDelegate,UITableViewDataSource,UITableViewDelegate,MapWebViewDelegate>

How it works? Create a UIView and two sub-views: UITableView and
UIWebView. Constrain them properly.
Create the UISearchController with a nil SearchResultsController
as the parameter to the init method.
This lets the search controller know that the results will be
displayed in the current controller/view.
Next we setup the delegates for the UISearchController and create
the function for filtering.
Now that we have the view created, we need a UIViewController to
test it. We can either add the search bar to the tableView header OR
to the NavigationController if there is one..
Below, I have chosen to add it to the UINavigationController and I
told the UISearchController to NOT HIDE the navigation bar on
presentation.
That way, the results are displayed in the current view without hiding
the navigation bar.
You can then use the webview which is hidden and offscreen to do
whatever javascript searches you are using it for..
However, a better idea would be to use JSContext to execute
Javascript instead of a UIWebView. The advantage of the UIWebView
is that you can parse HTML and modify DOM which the JSContext
doesn't allow.
Anyway..
Here is the code I wrote for a UIView that contains a
UISearchController and a UIWebView.. and then to add it to a
UIViewController that is embedded in a UINavigationController.

this is my initialize code of PopCardView,it use swift
let pop = PopCardView(tags: self.m_model.getItmes())
pop.show()
The code you show does not set any delegate to the table view. Either this is the reason or you posted an incomplete code snippet.
self.tableView.delegate = self;
and add UITableViewDelegate to your interface like
#interface ClassName ()<UITableViewDelegate>
Make sure you don't have anything in the cell that can swallow the touch event. Things like buttons and textfields can cause this. Strip everything from your cell, test to see if it works, then add things back in slowly to find the culprit.

UITableViewController cells disappear if inside a UIScrollView

//- (void)dealloc {

#end
Everything is rendered fine at first look, however any gesture/touch/tap I do on the UITableView/ioBubbleList, every cell disappears like this:
If from the storyboard I start from the navigator controller, then everything works fine. Any hint?
I solved this.
My issue was I was not keeping a reference of the UITableViewControllers and UITableViews I was adding inside the UIScrollView.
I just initialized and NSMutableArray and saved the UITableViewControllers the way I added the UITableViews into the UIScrollView.
EDIT
After some research I found that there is a smarter/better way to do this. Instead of keeping the instance inside our own array we should add the view controllers as childs to the container view controller (the UIViewController with the UIScrollView).
Here the explanation from apple docs:
https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/featuredarticles/ViewControllerPGforiPhoneOS/CreatingCustomContainerViewControllers/CreatingCustomContainerViewControllers.html
Here the code I used:
self.addChildViewController(tableViewController)
self.scrollView.addSubview(tableViewController.view)
tableViewController.didMoveToParentViewController(self)
Saving the tableViewControllers just in an array cannot keep track of the hierarchy inside the content view controller. This means that if we want to access the content view controller from the table view controllers we cannot. And several errors could happen with the UINavigationController if we are using it.

UITableView datasource methods not called on reloadData in IOS

I am stucked in this problem for many hours and have n't found any solution on SO...
I have got a table as a subview in UIViewController. When view loads, all datasource methods are called for tableview, but as I receive data from server and call [someTable reloadData], none of the data source methods are called. I have confirmed through breakpoints that my array do contains 100 objects. Also both delegate and datasource are bind to File owner in IB.
What can be possibly missing ? Please help me... Thanks :(
OutLogController.h
#interface OutLogController : UIViewController<UITableViewDataSource,UITableViewDelegate,ASIHTTPRequestDelegate>
{
NSMutableArray *outstandingKeys;
}
#property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITableView *someTable;
#end
OutLogController.m
#interface OutLogController ()
#end
#implementation OutLogController
#synthesize someTable;
- (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil
{
self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil];
if (self) {
// Custom initialization
}
return self;
}
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
// Do any additional setup after loading the view from its nib.
outstandingKeys = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
someTable = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.frame style:UITableViewStylePlain];
someTable.rowHeight = 85;
[self retrieveOutstandingLogFromServer];
}
- (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView
{
// Return the number of sections.
return 1;
}
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
// Return the number of rows in the section.
return outstandingKeys.count;
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if(cell == nil)
{
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
}
// Configure the cell...
LogUnit *unit = [outstandingKeys objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
cell.textLabel.text = unit.symbol;
return cell;
}
-(CGFloat) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
return 85;
}
-(void) requestFinished:(ASIHTTPRequest *)request
{
NSLog(#"%#",request.responseString);
NSArray *list = [request.responseString JSONValue];//contains 100 objects
for (int i = 0; i < list.count; i++) {
NSArray *singleTrade = [[list objectAtIndex:i] JSONValue];
LogUnit *unit = [[LogUnit alloc] init];
unit.symbol = [singleTrade objectAtIndex:0];
unit.type = [singleTrade objectAtIndex:1];
unit.price = [singleTrade objectAtIndex:2];
unit.remaining = [singleTrade objectAtIndex:3];
unit.order = [singleTrade objectAtIndex:4];
unit.time = [singleTrade objectAtIndex:5];
[outstandingKeys addObject:unit];
}
if(outstandingKeys.count > 0)
{
[someTable reloadData];//does reload table
}
}
EDIT
After removing line:
someTable = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.frame style:UITableViewStylePlain];
Datasource methods are called except cellForRowAtIndexPath and table disappears from view since this method is not called. Any idea why it can't get called?
Note: I have confirmed that I have count = 100 after response from server.
someTable = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.frame style:UITableViewStylePlain];
You have already bind your UITableView from nib/storyboard. In this case you did not have to alloc again the tableview. Removing this line will do the work
someTable = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.frame style:UITableViewStylePlain];
You create new tableView and it doesn't add to current view.
check your outstandingKeys Count may it zero count
Try to reload data by performing it on main thread..
dispatch_async(dispatch_get_main_queue(), ^{
[self.tableRating reloadData];
});
This will solve your problem. Happy Coding..

Everytime a WEPopover is presented in iOS app the memory allocations grow

I am having some issues with my app, I am currently using the WEPopover library (ARCified) to create some custom popovers. However, everytime i present a popover and it's corresponding view (consisting of a view and a tableview populated with an array) the allocations in instruments grow, even if im only re-adding the same popover again and again it grows. What am I missing, or is this normal behaviour, see code below. Should I instead make the table view weak or something?
ThemesPopOverViewController.h
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#import "AppDelegate.h"
#interface ThemesPopOverViewController : UIViewController <UITableViewDataSource, UITableViewDelegate>{
NSArray *themes;
}
#property (nonatomic, retain) UITableView *tableView;
#end
ThemesPopOverViewController.m
#import "ThemesPopOverViewController.h"
#interface ThemesPopOverViewController ()
#end
#implementation ThemesPopOverViewController
#synthesize tableView;
- (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil
{
self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil];
if (self) {
themes = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:kRegexHighlightViewThemeArray];
}
return self;
}
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
self.tableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(20, 0, self.view.frame.size.width - 40, 350)];
[self.tableView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]];
[self.tableView setDelegate:self];
[self.tableView setDataSource:self];
[self.view addSubview:self.tableView];
}
-(void) viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated{
int item = [themes indexOfObject:theDelegate.codeView.currentTheme];
NSIndexPath *indexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForItem:item inSection:0];
[self.tableView selectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES scrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionNone];
}
- (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning
{
[super didReceiveMemoryWarning];
// Dispose of any resources that can be recreated.
}
- (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView
{
return 1; //count of section
}
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section {
//NSLog(#"%d",themes.count);
return [themes count]; //count number of row from counting array hear cataGorry is An Array
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView
cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *MyIdentifier = #"MyIdentifier";
UITableViewCell *cell = [self.tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:MyIdentifier];
if (cell == nil)
{
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault
reuseIdentifier:MyIdentifier];
UIView *bgColorView = [[UIView alloc] init];
[bgColorView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor colorWithRed:25/255.0f green:185/255.0f blue:152/255.0f alpha:1.0f]];
[cell setSelectedBackgroundView:bgColorView];
}
[cell.textLabel setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:#"Helvetica" size:16]];
cell.textLabel.text = [themes objectAtIndex: indexPath.row];
return cell;
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
NSLog(#"%d", indexPath.row);
[theDelegate.codeView setHighlightThemeFromString:[themes objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]];
[theDelegate.codeView setNeedsDisplay];
themes = nil;
[theDelegate removePop];
}
#end
I add the popover from:
-(void) settingAct:(UIButton *)sender{
if (!popover) {
ThemesPopOverViewController *newView = [[ThemesPopOverViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"SettingPopOverViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]];
self.popover = [[WEPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController:newView];
[self.popover setContainerViewProperties:[self improvedContainerViewProperties]];
[self.popover setPopoverContentSize:CGSizeMake(128, 360)];
[self.popover presentPopoverFromRect:CGRectMake(sender.center.x+12, sender.center.y, 0, 20)
inView:self.window.rootViewController.view
permittedArrowDirections:(UIPopoverArrowDirectionUp|UIPopoverArrowDirectionDown|
UIPopoverArrowDirectionLeft|UIPopoverArrowDirectionRight)
animated:YES];
newView = nil;
}else{
[self removePop];
}
}
And the remove method in "theDelegate" for dismissing popovers:
-(void) removePop{
[self.popover dismissPopoverAnimated:YES];
self.popover = nil;
}
Baseline = no popovers, Heapshot1 = added popover, Heapshot2 = popover dissmissed, Heapshot3 = added same popover again, Heapshot4 = popover dissmissed.

Heapshot 3 00:24.312.874 30.39 KB 608
Heapshot 4 00:28.361.293 288 Bytes 7
In Your SettingsAct button~action~method do the code like this
if (self.popoverController)
{
[self.popoverController dismissPopoverAnimated:YES];
self.popoverController = nil;
}
else
{
ThemesPopOverViewController *newView = [[ThemesPopOverViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"SettingPopOverViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]];
self.popover = [[WEPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController:newView];
[self.popover setContainerViewProperties:[self improvedContainerViewProperties]];
[self.popover setPopoverContentSize:CGSizeMake(128, 360)];
[self.popover presentPopoverFromRect:CGRectMake(sender.center.x+12, sender.center.y, 0, 20)
inView:self.window.rootViewController.view
permittedArrowDirections:(UIPopoverArrowDirectionUp|UIPopoverArrowDirectionDown|
UIPopoverArrowDirectionLeft|UIPopoverArrowDirectionRight)
animated:YES];
}
it works fine for me :)
