How to align the title on backbuttonitem - ios

i'm new, so i cann't upload the image, but i have a problem when i customize the backButtonItem in iOS
the code i write:
UIButton *backBtn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
UIImage *backBtnImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"backBtn.png"];
backBtn.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, backBtnImage.size.width, backBtnImage.size.height);
[backBtn setBackgroundImage:backBtnImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
backBtn.titleLabel.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:14];
[backBtn addTarget:self action:#selector(popBack) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[backBtn setTitle:#"Back" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
UIBarButtonItem *backBtnItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:backBtn];
[backBtnItem setStyle:UIBarButtonItemStyleDone];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = backBtnItem;
but the title with "back" is not aligned on the backButton.
How could i align the title of a backbuttonitem which has been customized?

Try with this:
backBtn.contentHorizontalAlignment = UIControlContentHorizontalAlignmentCenter;

How to cancel UIBarbuttonItem setTitle shining effect

Like image shows, I used UIBarbuttonItem as rightBarButtonItem, what I want to do is just change rightBarButton's title when I select a picture or deselect a picture, so I used code like this:
[self.rightBarButton setTitle:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"完成(%#/%#)",#(_selectedAssets.count),#(self.maxPicturesNum)]];
but the barbutton will show shin when its text changed, I try to use UIButton instead of UIBarButtonItem, and shin effect disappear indeed, but UIButton will be close to right bounds far, can you help me?
You can create UIButton and assign it to your rightBarButton
UIButton *rightButton = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:someFrame];
[rightButton setBackgroundImage:someImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[rightButton addTarget:self action:#selector(back:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
rightButton.titleLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"完成(%#/%#)",#(_selectedAssets.count),#(self.maxPicturesNum)];
rightButton.titleLabel.font = someFont;
UIBarButtonItem *rightBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:rightButton];
self.rightBarButton = rightBarButtonItem;
And while updating label use rightButton.titleLabel.text
For Adjusting label use this:
- (void)setTitlePositionAdjustment:(UIOffset)adjustment
forBarMetrics:(UIBarMetrics)barMetrics
Finally,I do like this:
- (void)loadRightButtonItem{
UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
button.frame = CGRectMake(30, 0, 120, 40);
button.contentHorizontalAlignment = UIControlContentHorizontalAlignmentRight;
[button setTitle:#"完成(0/9)" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
button.tintColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
[button setTitleShadowColor:[UIColor whiteColor] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];
// [button setTitleColor:[self.buttonFolder titleColorForState:UIControlStateHighlighted] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];
[button addTarget:self action:#selector(onFinishClicked:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIView *view = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 135, 40)];
UIBarButtonItem *item = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:view];
[view addSubview:button];
self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = item;
_rightBarButton = button;
}
It cancel the shin effect.
thanks to #RoHaN,your idea did great inspired me.

Customize navigation bar button in iOS6

Update - One Possible Solution
Based on answer given by Alexander Merchi in this post (UIBarButtonItem Custom view in UINavigationBar), a solution is found. But still don't know how to change the position of the image properly.
UIButton *btn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[btn setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 28.0f, 28.0f)]; // 28 points is the width or height of the button image
[btn setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"button.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[btn addTarget:self action:#selector(onClickMenuButton) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
btnMenu = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:btn];
Original Post
In iOS 6, the goal is like this:
while current result is like this:
My code is
btnMenu = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"button.png"]
style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain
target:self
action:#selector(onClickMenuButton)];
button.png is this the white circle with white three bars inside and a tranparent background.
UIButton *rightButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
rightButton.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 30, 30);
[rightButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"Button-normal"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[rightButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"logout-hover"] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];
[rightButton addTarget:self action:#selector(logOut) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIBarButtonItem *rightBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:rightButton];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = rightBarButtonItem;
I am accomplishing it by
UIImageView *uView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"btn_back_ontouch_scr11.png"]];
UIButton *leftButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
leftButton.bounds = CGRectMake( 0, 0, uView.frame.size.width, uView.frame.size.height );
[leftButton setImage:uView.image forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];
[leftButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"btn_back_normal_scr11.png"]forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[leftButton addTarget:self.navigationController action:#selector(popViewControllerAnimated:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIBarButtonItem *aButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:leftButton];
self.scrollView.indicatorStyle=UIScrollViewIndicatorStyleWhite;
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = aButton;
self.navigationItem.hidesBackButton = YES;
This should work.

Adding custom back button on navigation bar

I am trying to add custom back button on navigation bar but it is not working below is my code
-(void)addLeftButton
{
UIImage *buttonImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"btn_back.png"];
UIButton *aButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[aButton setBackgroundImage:buttonImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
aButton.frame = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, buttonImage.size.width, buttonImage.size.height);
UIBarButtonItem *aBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:aButton];
[aButton addTarget:self action:nil forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
self.navigationItem.backBarButtonItem = aBarButtonItem;
}
Please tell what's wrong with this code
Try this.
-(void)addLeftButton
{
UIImage *buttonImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"btn_back.png"];
UIButton *aButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[aButton setBackgroundImage:buttonImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
aButton.frame = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, buttonImage.size.width, buttonImage.size.height);
UIBarButtonItem *aBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:aButton];
[aButton addTarget:self action:nil forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[self.navigationItem setLeftBarButtonItem:aBarButtonItem];
}
Here is the code that i have used to create custom backbutton
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
// Set the custom back button
//add the resizable image
UIImage *buttonImage = [[UIImage imageNamed:#"backbtn.png"]
resizableImageWithCapInsets:UIEdgeInsetsMake(0, 13, 0, 5)];
//create the button and assign the image
UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[button setBackgroundImage:buttonImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
MSLabel *lbl = [[MSLabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(12, 4, 65, 28)];
lbl.text = #"Settings";
lbl.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
//lbl.font = [UIFont fontWithName:#"Helvetica" size:12.0];
lbl.numberOfLines = 0;
lbl.lineHeight = 12;
lbl.verticalAlignment = MSLabelVerticalAlignmentMiddle;
lbl.font = [UIFont fontWithName:#"Helvetica" size:12];
[button addSubview:lbl];
//set the frame of the button to the size of the image (see note below)
button.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 70, buttonImage.size.height);
[button addTarget:self action:#selector(back) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
//create a UIBarButtonItem with the button as a custom view
UIBarButtonItem *customBarItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:button];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = customBarItem;
}
-(void)back {
// Tell the controller to go back
[self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES];
}
This code will resize your image so it can fit the text.
You can also put this button in any method.
You didn't add action to your button. So you need to add action to your button. For more info see in the below code..
-(void)addLeftButton
{
UIImage *buttonImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"btn_back.png"];
UIButton *aButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[aButton setBackgroundImage:buttonImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
aButton.frame = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, buttonImage.size.width, buttonImage.size.height);
UIBarButtonItem *aBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:aButton];
[aButton addTarget:self action:#selector(backBtnPressed) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; // -------- Edit here -----
self.navigationItem.backBarButtonItem = aBarButtonItem;
}
-(void)backBtnPressed
{
[self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES];
}

changing text of custom navigation bar item

I am creating a custom UINavigationBar BarButtonItem as follows:
// Set up bar button items
UIButton *backButton = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 35.0f, 35.0f)];
[backButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"myimg.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[backButton addTarget:self action:#selector(myselector) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:backButton];
This is working perfectly, but when I go to set the title of the UIButton or BarButtonItem, it won't show up. Any suggestions?
Tried...
[backButton setTitle:#"Edit" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[backButton setTitleColor:[UIColor whiteColor] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
And...
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem.title = #"Edit";
without luck.
The problem is that image and title use same viewspace for display.
So when we use image with title first it show image and than title (right side of image).
If size of UIButton is same as image than we can't see Title.
A simple solution is set image in background. So try this:
[backButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"myimg.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"myimg.png"];
UIButton *backButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[backButton setBackgroundImage:image forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[backButton setTitle:#"Edit" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[backButton setTitleColor:[UIColor whiteColor] forState:UIControlStateNormal]
backButton.frame=CGRectMake(0, 0, 35.0f, 35.0f);
UIBarButtonItem *barButton= [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:backButton] autorelease];
self.toolbar.items = [NSArray arrayWithObject:barButton];

Custom background for default system items

i want to use the default bar button items like
UIBarButtonItem *editFavoritesButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemEdit target:self action:#selector(startEndEditing:)];
The problem is that i want to change the background of these button but
[editFavoritesButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"barbuttonPlain.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal barMetrics:UIBarMetricsDefault];
does not to the trick in this case.
UPDATED:
The idea is not creating a custom button since you need to handle the translations for this case.On the other hand i want to user compose and other sort of default images.
Replace your code from...
[editFavoritesButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"barbuttonPlain.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal barMetrics:UIBarMetricsDefault];
as like this...
[editFavoritesButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"barbuttonPlain.png"]];
Use this code to create custom UIBarButtonItem:
UIButton *mybutton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[mybutton setFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 25.0f, 25.0f)];
[mybutton addTarget:self action:#selector(mybuttonFunction) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[mybutton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"myImage.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
UIBarButtonItem *random = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:mybutton];
Hope this will help you.
You can try like this If you have any question you can ask..
UIButton *backButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
backButton.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 83, 44);
backButton.adjustsImageWhenHighlighted=NO;
[backButton addTarget:self action:#selector(backMethod)
forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchDown];
[backButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"img.png"]
forState:UIControlStateNormal];
UIBarButtonItem *barLeftInfoButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:backButton];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = barLeftInfoButton;
Add a custom button first and then add it to the UIBarButtonItem.
UIImage *buttonImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"mainButton.png"];
//create the button and assign the image
self.yourButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[self.yourButton setFrame:CGRectMake(5,7,buttonImage.size.width,buttonImage.size.height)];
[self.yourButton setBackgroundImage:buttonImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
self.yourButton.titleLabel.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:12];
[self.yourButton setTitle:#"title" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[self.yourButton addTarget:self action:#selector(startEndEditing:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
// add image view
[self.navBar addSubview:self.yourButton];
//create a UIBarButtonItem with the button as a custom view
UIBarButtonItem *customBarItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:self.yourButton];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = customBarItem;
Please try to use this one ....
UIButton *editFavoritesButton = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 55.0f, 30.0f)];
[editFavoritesButton setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]];
[editFavoritesButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"barbuttonPlain.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[editFavoritesButton addTarget:self action:#selector(startEndEditing:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIBarButtonItem *leftBtn = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:editFavoritesButton];
[self.navigationItem setLeftBarButtonItem:leftBtn];
