Porting GDB server on iOS - ios

I need to cross-compile one of the latest GDB server versions (7.4 or 7.5) for iOS. By default configure script does not support such target (arm-apple-darwin). However, I have an idea to merge Apple's open source version of GDB server (based on pretty old version of GDB) with the latest GDB version. Did anyone try this approach? May be there is a better way?

Using mainline GDB is going to be tricky; Apple's version has been forked quite a while ago and porting it won't be trivial. Why do you need specifically 7.4?
If you just need a gdbserver for iOS, try Saurik's patches, although I'm not sure how recent they are.

Why Cygwin has old Clang (v8)?

Are there any special reasons why Cygwin Clang is so outdated (see here), version 8, while already version 13 exists?
For example Ubuntu (apt), MSYS2, MSVC all have version 12.
Also does anyone know (any links?) if there is any very simple way (like docker-based) to build recent Clang for Cygwin? Maybe Clang has no support for Cygwin anymore, that's why Cygwin has outdated version?
See:
https://cygwin.com/packages/summary/clang.html
The reason is very simple, there is no current maintainer.
The previous one has no more available time to dedicate to the project.

How to properly install Hack and HHVM on Windows 7

I am trying to install and configure Facebook programming language Hack and HHVM on Windows, probably Windows 7. I could not find any solution on it. I saw a Bitnami link which suggest HHVM Installers.
source
I have downloaded the installer files HHVM installer files
but it cannot run on Windows due .run extension filename. How can I achieve this using HACK and HHVM installations on Windows 7.
Hack and HHVM do not support Windows. There was some work in 2015, but it doesn't seem to have continued since then.
Recent versions of HHVM do not support PHP. The Bitnami link mentions running phpmyadmin, so it looks like it's targeting an old HHVM release.
Hack and HHVM do not support Windows but you can try Building and Installing HHVM on Cygwin or Installation: Building From Source although not recommended because they are monumental tasks.
You can also take a look at Building and Installing HHVM.
I personally gave up and installed the supported package in my Mac where I'm using Visual Studio Code with the HackLang plug-in for development.

Does Jenkins work with NativeScript?

Is it possible to use Jenkins to build NativeScript? I've had an extremely rough time with it. Right now, the problem I'm dealing with is that while tnsbuild works when I run it myself, it doesn't complete with Jenkins. The error is WARNING: The Java compiler version 10.0.2 is not compatible with the current Android runtime version 3.4.3. In order to use this Javac version, you need to update your Android runtime or downgrade your Java compiler version.
I looked at the NativeScript source code and couldn't track down this issue to determine where exactly NS is finding the version number, but both my terminal and Jenkins are looking in the same path to for the SDKs.

Can I use OpenCV on AIX?

I developed an image processing library with OpenCV and it works well in Windows, Android(Native) and iOS.
Now I want to build my library to run on AIX server. Unfortunately I couldn't find any guidance for building OpenCV for AIX.
Can you give me any guidance?
There is no official support for OpenCV on AIX. No community driven project either.
However there is another project maintained by IBM called IBM AIX Toolbox for Linux Applications.
This project is intended for developers and provides most Linux based, especially GNU based programming languages, tools & libraries to be run on AIX.
You'll have to go through setting up the environment / dependencies, though it must compile just fine. Linux tutorials for building OpenCV using GCC should work just fine.
You might ask the person at Perzl if he could build it. He must have a lot of knowledge, tools, and environment already. I also find it much better than the IBM AIX Toolbox so if you want to try to do it yourself, I would start with his versions instead of IBM's.
Group Bull use to have a similar set of built open source packages but I don't know where they disappeared to.

What is need to build native extension for Gems on Windows? (RubyGems)

More and more gems I run into requires building "native extensive", such as RedCloth. Are there tools that are open-source or free that is sufficient to do that? I heard MS Visual Studio also has a free version. Will that be enough to build native extensions?
If you installed Ruby with the RubyInstaller (as you should), then the DevKit has everything you need.
If you use the obsolete MSVC6 builds, then you need to install Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, because newer versions of MSVC are incompatible. Good luck finding that, though, MSVC6 isn't even from this millenium.
