Is it possible to use custom component derived from default one to be visible only as part of the project? The advantage of this solution is that I need not to distribute source code of component separately from that of application. Also there is no need for other developers to always check if they have installed the latest version. I need not to manage various versions and copy them somewhere to share my changes with other developers in team (whether it be network disk or SVN server). They get new version with every SVN update from server.
If i used delphi there would be solution - interposer class but this is not applicable to me. MS Visual Studio has possibility to use component only as part of Solution (analogy to MS VS Solution is ProjectGroup in C++ Builder).
What you are asking for is only possible if the component is created dynamically at run-time only. If the component needs to be accessible at design-time, then it must be installed into the IDE before the project can then use it.

I have a MVC 2 project created in Visual Studio 2010 that use MvcSiteMapProvider.dll and works fine. But when loading the project in Visual Studio 2013, everything else work fine except it crashes at
Html.MvcSiteMap().SiteMapPath
The error message is

Note that there is a separate DLL for each .NET framework version, and I suspect you are targeting the wrong framework. This can happen if you install MvcSiteMapProvider into your project and then change it to a different .NET framework version.
NuGet does not automatically upgrade/downgrade packages to the currently set framework version. This step must be done manually. The best way is to completely uninstall and reinstall the package as per this document. Also be sure to read this before attempting it.
But do note that if you do this NuGet will not remove any files you have changed (like Mvc.sitemap) and then prompt you whether to overwrite them. You should normally say no to each prompt to ensure your custom configuration is not overwritten.
Also note that it is not sufficient to use Assembly Binding Redirection with MvcSiteMapProvider because with each .NET framework version we create a separate build (DLL) that takes advantage of features that are not present in prior versions.

How can I put my code from my BCB 6 project to use it with this system.
Of course I'd prefer to have IDE integration, but as long as I have some kind of GUI I'm fine with doing source code tasks outside of the BCB IDE.
Are there any BCB files that are binary and therefore might be an issue with comparing changes?

C++Builder does not have any native TFS support (not even in the latest version), let alone any VSOnline support. At least with TFS, there are third-party plugins to let C++Builder access TFS:

For TFS, you can also use the standard TFS client GUI. For Visual Studio Team Services, who knows.
Several files are binary, including RES and TDS, but you usually don't need to do diffs on those. You should, however, make sure to set your DFM files to Text mode, as they are set to Binary by default. DFMs are always binary in the final executable's resources, but the DFM source files can be either text or binary, and you will likely do diffs on DFMs from time to time.
you could use the visual studio shell (aka 'team explorer everywhere') to do checkins etc

I´m struggling with what is the best design for an ActiveX control in regards to its registration and reference.
One part of our software is based on ActiveX controls that are used on Internet Explorer and referenced by its GUID, and ActiveX control will make the connection to the server and will get the data (Live Images) from it.
The problem that I´m facing is that everytime that we update the server version we have to change the version of the ActiveX controls because there are usually new codes for client, so, the ActiveX of version 6.3 for example will not connect to a 6.4 server and must be updated
The thing is that, what is the best design to have different versions of the same ActiveX registered on the machine? Should I change the GUID of the ActiveX every new version???
I have searched a lot for this and couldn´t find anything satisfactory, and I can´t use the Registration-free COM because the ActiveX control is meant to be used inside Internet Explorer
I'm quite new to Delphi and I'm helping a team setting up a build server which are using Rad Studio 2005.
They have just bought DevExpress VCL and wants to use these. I would rather not have the component installed on the build server, but instead having them as a part of the source code and making sure that the project is using that version.
How is that done in Delphi?
We compiled all of our 3rd-party stuff into a BPL, then put that .bpl and corresponding .dcp and .dpr/.bdsproje into source control, so it gets delivered to the build server. Works well. In retrospect, it should have been a series of BPLs, divided by vendor, so that we could upgrade individual components/libraries without having to run regression tests on everything else.
In PHP, you can just log in to the FTP and see all of the files. I notice in VB ASP.NET MVC when I publish a site it doesn't include the controllers or models. Rather, it seems to compile them into DLLs. How can the files be modified with out access to the originals? Would a developer have to publish the files in a separate directory and then the other developer pull them down and open the project in visual studio?
Keep your SourceCode in a Version Control System like SVN /GIT /TFS etc.. Whenever you want to make an update , Get the specific version you want to update and make update to that.
Having a Version control gives you so many advantages
1) Collaborative working. Many members of a team can work on same code base without overwriting conflict
2) Restore to a Previous Version : Something wrong with the current production move ?. Just get the Previous version (Label) which is working fine (and was running in prod) and rollback to that till you fix the issue.
Keeping the Previous versions of code will save a lot of time in a Programmers / Team's life.

Version control is not only for Teams. Individual developers can keep their code in Version controls and sleep nicely
Btw, Your MVC project's Model classes and Controllers classes are compiled into the DLL files.

In a professional environment, there is a very clear distinction between editing source code, and deploying to production. You seem to make no distinction.
Usually developers make changes under careful control using a source control system like SVN.
Build & deployment is then done separately by a dedicated team member. Developers do not touch the production servers willy-nilly.

I don't understand. If you want developers to have full access to the production environment, why not give them full access to the source code as well? In your PHP example this is a given.
