Quite a tough one to tackle here.
Here is my tree structure:
Currently, if you are to visit the "Community Celebrations" page you will see all "Celebrations" listed on this page.
Here is what the page spits out:
To identify which node is a "Celebration" look at the icon that "Banswara" is using - this is a "Celebration".
Underneath you will see nodes named Stat, Community Video, Touching Story and Photo.
What I am trying to achieve ( and am unsure if it is possible ) is on the "Community Celebrations" page ( see image above ) where all celebrations are listed I want to be able to render the video that you see at the bottom. How a user inputs this video is through the umbraco RTE within the "Community Video" node. The user will insert YouTube "object" embedded code but there is a catch. To pull this through is no problem, if a user is to click on the play icon or in video space I need a pop up to trigger which will contain the video.
I am using fancybox for current jquery pop ups and to be able to do so within umbraco you need a dedicated template with the content you want to render within - my thinking is that this cannot be done as the video content is coming from another node with a dedicated template however, there maybe someone with an alternative option.
Big post I know but this is a tough one!
All suggestions welcome.

This appears to be pretty basic but I can't figure it out.
Using a jqm multipage template, I'm trying to allow users to jump from a link one page (id='page1') directly to an image in another page (id='page2').
FIDDLE
It appears I am constrained, by html hyperlinking rules and jqm, to this:
<a href='#page2'>go to image on p2</a>
... which of course jumps the user to the top of page2.
But that's not what I want. I want the user to jump directly to the IMAGE, which is close to the bottom of page2, tagged like so:
<img id='image-id'>
But tagging the link with the image's id (not the page's id), i.e. tagging it like this
<a href='#image-id'>go to image on p2</a>
doesn't work.
I get the feeling I'm missing something very obvious, but can't figure it out.
Any suggestions? Or is this not possible?
I've got a different problem but found this question in my travels... thought I would add an extract from the jquery mobile page:
http://demos.jquerymobile.com/1.4.5/navigation-linking-pages/
Note: You cannot link to a multipage document with Ajax navigation active because the framework will only load the first page it finds, not the full set of internal pages. In these cases, you must link without Ajax (see next section) for a full page refresh to prevent potential hash collisions. There is currently a subpage plugin that makes it possible to load in multi-page documents.
As the title suggests, I'm looking for a way to make my company's Jira Issue Collector popup draggable. Many users of a particular site we're developing have complained that this feature is overly-cumbersome to use, since one must close the popup to see the underlying page and hence the error that they want to report.
I thought I could simply wrap the generated source in a Kendo UI Window, but alas, there are many supplementary scripts and CSS files that must be loaded for the popup to render correctly. Trying to make the contents of these local to our site has proved to be basically impossible, due to the sheer amount of code they contain, and the fact that the popup is rendered in an iframe.
So how might we be able to go about this? MTIA :-)
Would also like to find an answer to that... I've been trying all the jQuery tricks I could find, to no avail. There are a few feature requests open at Atlassian for similar features, like making the collector window resizable, or making certain fields required. Guess we'll have to wait for a new Jira release ; )
I have a website with a default home page of index.html, let's call the website: www.brianbauer.com ( that is my name BTW).
www.brianbauer.com operates something like a "treasure hunt". by clicking on various hot-spots on each HTML page access via brianbauer.com, you get redirected to the next html page. this continues for some period of user-clicks. One of the ideas is that on each visit, it is not obvious how the user reached a specific webpage. all they know is that they kept clicking and ended up at some final HTML page. but every click that brings up a new HTML page, still shows "http://www.brianbauer.com" in the Address bar. This is a game, nothing "wrong" going on here.
1. All of the HTML pages are owned by me, and I authored them all.
2. No illegal or unscruptulous activty of any kind going on.
3. all HTML pages in scope are under the root domain of brianbauer.com
the idea is that as users look at pictures and read a narrative, they make choices. a typical webpage might have 4 choices. depending on your choice, the next HTML page you see is determined.
I have created site maps that are basically decision trees.
think of it like a digital corn-maze. It's important that the full URL path to the current HTML page that they are looking at is masked, and should only show "www.brianbauer.com". it is true that someone more sophisticated could look at sourcecode, record their screen, keep notes, etc. but the mask will accomplish 90% of my goal.
as for being able to bookmark a certain webpage that they have "discovered"? the whole point is that they should not be able to....
I am NOT trying to mask my domain, that is easy. I am trying to simply maske what appears in the Address bar as users hit HTML pages which are children of that domain.
Thank you for the help.
Brian
There is something called CNAME cloak it might be one option.
Another option could be using ajax and replace content of the page.
OK, so I've set up a website where the content is split into modals that are hidden. There are links on the page that when clicked on, the relevant modal appears. I want to be able to track the links being clicked on so I can see what content is being viewed by users. Ideally I want the data to appear as fake pageviews. I know this used to be possible but not sure how to do it nowadays.
I can't seem to find any decent up to date documentation online for how to do this. Can anyone shed some light?
Once you have the Analytics initialized for asynchrounous, just call
_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', 'FAKE_URL']);
This should work and will not slow down your page load. You might want to consider using "events" rather than fake page views; it's also quite simple
_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', "EVENT NAME", "PARAMETER"]);
See Google's Documentation for more info.
How can I go about allowing users to embed YouTube and Vimeo videos in my Rails app?
I'd provide a text field or text area where users can add the link of the video they wish to embed.
Click add and have my app show a spinner while the details are being gathered.
When the details are found, I'd want them displayed on the page before user can finally submit the post.
I'm guessing the HTML, link details will need to be stored in the database so the video can automatically be displayed every time the page is visited.
HTML5 has a file API that gives me the ability to display users local file data on the fly. Wondering if there is something similar for display remote data or would normal ajax be used?
Is there a standard way of doing this? Also are there any tutorials out there on how to do this in rails? Would like to go about doing this in the most safest and securest way.
I love tutorials and screencasts so I'd really be thankful for info on where I can find one to achieve what I'm trying to achieve.
Try to use open graph protocol to fetch site information before user sending the form.
I suggest the following gem:
https://github.com/intridea/opengraph
Open graph protocol:
http://ogp.me/
And I guess you should store all the fetched information in database.
The Video Thumb gem is probably what you are looking for.
It handles vimeo, youtube and potentially others.
Then you just do:
<%= VideoPlayer::player(library_item.url, 700, 420).html_safe %>
In your view to display an automatically generated embed code.
